Ok, so it's super disappointing because the food here is crazy good. I could eat the Crabby Patty all day everyday. However, the service and attentiveness of the staff is abysmal. Not once have I come here and my order has just been correct. After a while of giving second and third and fourth chances, you just stop going. Our server today not only got several portions of our order incorrect but was nowhere to be found for most of our visit. We also at one point watched the manager pour some very delicious looking mimosas into styrofoam cups....for his employees. Maybe don't encourage your staff to drink on the job unless they're doing at least a halfway decent job? read more

This is usually our favorite "go-to" breakfast spot in Sarasota. We come down here every year and Station 400 is always top of the list. Our experience this time, however, was pretty disappointing. Our food came out cold, and our waitress was unfriendly. We had to ask for coffee, and she never asked how our food was. I'll be honest, I was kind of looking forward to leaving halfway through my meal. I'm not sure if there is a new manager, or something changed, but the vibe (and food) was not as good as it always has been. Stumbled on this place when we were downtown at the Wrigley Museum. Absolutely quaint setting -old railroad station rehabbed. The food was delicious and the service excellent! We had brunch I had a avocado on toast and my husband had eggs Benedict both were fresh and plentiful. None of the food tasted mass produced or some women in butter like at most breakfast places. I stopped into Station 400 for breakfast on a recent business trip. It was conveniently located not too far from where I was staying, and came highly recommended by a coworker. Station 400 did not disappoint. It was during prime breakfast hours when I stopped in, and the place was pretty much dead, which was a little disconcerting. But then I remembered that it was a Tuesday, so I didn't think too much more of it. For breakfast, Station 400 has quite a few options, ranging from the typical omelettes, french toast, and yogurt with fruit variety, but also offers some truly unique combinations for their pancakes. I opted for the strawberry and lavender pancakes, served with a heaping pat of strawberry butter and just a little bit of syrup on the side. These were some delicious pancakes!! Their other combinations include blueberry and almond with vanilla butter and some equally scrumptious-sounding options. Coffee's unlimited, the service is fast but not too friendly, and the prices are right (well under $10 for breakfast, including your beverage of choice). Next time I find myself in Sarasota in need of breakfast, I'll be Station 400, that's for sure. read more

This place, though they have changed management, and possibly ownership a few times, continues to be consistent about providing SUB-PAR service by their waitstaff. They have such a casual attitude about what and how to treat customers, it's a real turn-off for me to return here....which I do ONLY if someone else selects this place and they're paying. When Eric Bein was the owner and chef, this used to be a good restaurant. Eric focused on fresh, high quality ingredients. This was our first time back since the restaurant was sold. Not the same. Not even close. I had the open faced roast beef sandwich with Parmesan fries. Not the same. The roast beef was fatty; the amount of caramelized onions seemed about half and the Parmesan fries were no longer hand cut and tasted like the kind of fries you might get at a grocery store. My wife had the ricotta pancakes and they were also not the same. They were more like fried pancakes and did not have the same fluffyness as we had had in the past. And the coffee - how can a good restaurant serve weak coffee - coffee that tasted watered down. You can buy coffee much better than this at most gas stations. I am sure the new owner looked at the food costs and said - where can I reduce costs? The customers won't notice. Well 2 customers did. 2 customers who used to tell everyone who came to town - go to Station 400. Not anymore. Not the same. read more

I ordered the truffled eggs Benedict, which was very tasty. only downside was that it was not that warm...probably timing issue in the kitchen. Anyways, I also had an order of the buttermilk pancakes, which was definitely an excellent choice. The seating is very pleasant on a nice sunny day in FL. Love Station 400. I love even more that it is a block away from my home. We go nearly every Saturday morning. The best: Station 400 omelet (generous amounts of crab and lobster), Corned Beef Hash, Ruben, Eggs Benny. Also, three cheers for their cheesy grits. Service is prompt and casual. There is plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. The wait is rarely longer than 20 minutes, and worth it. In general, Station 400 is a super solid breakfast spot. read more

My husband and I stopped in for breakfast today, and I was very pleased. It's difficult thing to 'do' breakfast well, but Station 400 does. We both had a very difficult time deciding what to order; he being torn between the steel-cut oatmeal with stewed berries and granola and the whole-wheat pancakes, and I having to decide between the Truffled Eggs Benedict and the Breakfast Fry-Up (eggs, toast, sauteed tomatoes and mushrooms, breakfast, sausage, bacon, and cheesy grits). Being a fan of more "traditional" breakfasts, I chose the Fry-Up. My husband was pleasantly surprised to find that you can order a cup of the oatmeal instead of a whole bowl, so he was able to satisfy both his cravings. I thoroughly enjoyed the Fry-Up. The eggs were light and fluffy, the bacon was perfectly done, the grits were the perfect consistency, and the sausage, tomatoes, and mushrooms were flavorful. The toast came with a side of homemade peach jam (which was more of a chutney, to be honest) that was so good I had to stop my husband from licking the bowl it came in. The oatmeal was amazing; I could smell the cinnamon in the granola that was sprinkled on top as it was set onto our table. The short stack of pancakes (3) was generously sized, and the maple syrup was clearly top-shelf quality. But the real star of my husband's plate was the butter. It is made in house, and you can tell it's the real deal. I tasted a little bit of it separately from any medium, and it was creamy, sweet, and savory. So, so, so good. Our experience was great (good service and atmosphere), and there is so much on the menu that sounds delightful (Croque Madame, Blueberry-stuffed, almond crusted croissant French toast, Strawberry and lavender pancakes, Banana and brown sugar pancakes, and their seasonal Pumpkin pancakes) that I know we'll be back again. read more

Server finally approaches and asks only what we wanted to drink. I let her know we were ready to order since we had waited so long and she sighed loudly. Food was on point, but service remained well below par. Seemed isolated to our server as the others were hustling and promptly waiting their tables. I know it is a challenge to get good help since the government is paying people to sit on their couches, but it reflects negatively on the management and the restaurant and diminishes repeat business to tolerate poor service from your staff. read more

Was heading to the ringling museum and decided to stop by station400 for Saturday Brunch. Located in the downtown of Sarasota, station 400 is a quaint little restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. Upon arrival, the restaurant was bustling with customers. They had both the brunch as well as the lunch menu available, and i decided to get the chicken and fruit salad from the lunch menu, while my friends got the salmon sandwich, truffle egg bennie and salmon salad. I also caved into the peach & ginger mimosa, which was deliciously strong. Now for the food, it was surprisingly good. My friends all raved about how excellent their salmon was (which I can contest to) and how fresh the food is. My chicken with fruit salad came with a pile of fruits with plenty of chicken salad. Perhaps I have a weak spot for chicken salads but i thought the quality of the chicken, complimented by the toasted crackers and fresh fruits, was perfectly light and refreshing. Took my coworker for a farewell lunch here recently. We both are foodies and love exploring new places. Heard great reviews about this place, so found it appropriate to check it out ourselves. Definitely was not a disappointment. The variety in menu items, as well as decent prices for the amount of food received was unexpectedly pleasing. I had the Spanish Omelet with a side of fruit and parmesan fries (it was almost lunchtime). My coworker had the Crabby Patty, which seemed like an eggs benedict with a crab cake. Next time, we want to try the salted carmel and bacon pancakes with orange butter, just because of the mix in flavors. The parking lot was a little small, but that was expected for the area. This was on my last day in Sarasota. We enjoyed our breakfast. The Benedict's were perfectly cooked and the truffle was not over powering at all. My chorizo omelette was good to. My daughter ordered the Nutella waffle super yummy. The lattes and the mimosas were perfect. We usually order the belinis but they didn't have peach juice so the bartender recommended one from the menu with mango. It had flavored mango pearls in the bottom of the glass. Wonderful for brunch - a nice variety of delicious omelettes, sandwiches, crepes and much more. Wide choice of coffees, teas, mimosas, beer but no Bloody Mary (one of the few and minor disappointments). We've never ordered a dish we haven't liked. I'm partial to the sandwiches, such as roast beef with arugula and caramelized onions or the salmon with beets on pumpernickel. The black bean burger is one of the best around town. The service at Station 400 is always very good. They'll accommodate groups by pushing tables together on the patio, which is where we always want to sit anyway. It's partially shaded and has plenty of flowers and other fauna. We've been enjoying Station 400 for years and keep coming back for more. My only disappointment is that they don't take reservations. We never seem to have a long wait, but I'm always hesitant to bring a group for that reason. read more

The staff was very courteous despite being quite busy on a Sunday morning. I ordered the truffle eggs benedict with cheesy grits on the side. The eggs were fine, the grits were just ok. Unfortunately the food was not hot, which was a big disappointment. Same for the coffee, which was good quality but the refills were lukewarm. One last thing, the men's room sink needs a good cleaning. I'm going to give it another try for lunch soon. Three stars for now. read more

Came here on a super wet and rainy holiday Monday with my parents. We came about an hour before brunch was ending, and the staff were super gracious and welcoming. My dad walks with a walker, and the wait staff were proactively helpful about not only getting him a seat near the door but also helping him with the chair (difficult to move over the carpeted floor) and moving his fold-up walker out of the way. The food was good and well-priced. I asked for my Cobb Salad without bacon (I don't eat bacon) and they still included it, but it was sectioned off to one side and easy to avoid. My parents' pancakes and eggs looked great, too, and they both loved their food. Even though we got there pretty close to the end of service, we never once felt rushed. The waiter was attentive but never hovered, he was polite, and when we were ready to go he helped my father up and held the door for us. Would definitely come back again! read more

Okay, well my first visit here was not good to say the least. Our drinks took 10 minutes to get to the table, and then we noticed 2 of the glasses were dirty. If you are on your lunch break, be careful because the service is a bit slow. Another thing was that their prices were different in the restaurant than they were on their website. We did bring this to their attention. Having said that, the waiter was very nice and a manager brought our table a complimentary fruit plate after hearing about the dirty glasses and the pricing snafu. Stopped here after checking Yelp for breakfast places. The real working model train fascinated our kids. The hostess was bubbly and seated us promptly. The food was amazing! My husband had the Croque Madame with cheesy grits, salad and sausage, though he didn't like the sauce on the egg. I had the Italian omelette with hash browns and toast. The omelette was fluffy and stuffed full of artichokes, red peppers and topped with a generous drizzle of pesto. Even the hash browns and toast were perfect...hash browns were crisp on the outside and perfectly tender inside. Our kids had the chocolate and peanut butter pancakes with maple butter and real vanilla bean whipped cream! The only negative was our server, Josh, forgot to add my side of bacon to our order, then never checked on us once our food came out. I had to ask another server for the bacon! I've eaten here twice, having ridden about 85 miles to get there. It was worth it! We came once for breakfast and once for lunch. For breakfast I had the Croque Madame, which was possibly the best breakfast I've ever had. It was wonderful!! For lunch, to be honest, I don't remember what I had but I wasn't as impressed as what I had had for breakfast, but it was still good. The service was very good, the place is clean and interesting. This is a really great lunch spot if your in the downtown area. Their food is really fresh and everything made to order. A simple soup, sandwich and salad menu. My favorite is the Cobb salad.
