My family has been coming here for breakfast for over 30 years! The portions are huge! The scrambled eggs are always very fresh tasting. You get choices of toast. I splurge and get the white toast and it comes buttered for you. The sausage can be either pork or turkey. I had the turkey links and they were very tasty and very little fat. Coffee is good and the servers give all the refills you want! AND if you like Belgian waffles, this is the place. The waffle is as big as the plate, and can come with all sorts of toppings. I went here for a quick lunch today! Very yummy and accommodating. I just asked for a turkey sandwich with turkey lettuce tomato and sourdough toast with a side of fruit. The fruit wasn't super fresh but it wasn't awful. The sandwich was basic of course but yummy! The turkey was actually very very good! Crazy Popular For breakfast I had their homemade Corned Beef Hash and Eggs. The hash was almost totally meat, pieces of potatoes, onions, and peppers few. Tasted very good, perhaps a little dry but that probably made it healthier. I liked that the potatoes were large pieces on the side instead of being a filler for the hash. There was no shortage of food. Service was great and the coffee kept flowing, pots coming around for topping off at frequent intervals. They know how to do breakfast. I arrived this morning less than 10 minutes after the restaurant opened and it was already half full. I was seated right away. Ten minutes later the place looked completely full. Crazy. But don't be discouraged from coming, I could see the entrance from where I sat, and no one waited for more than a couple of minutes to be seated. Blue Dolphin Cafe is the only sit down breakfast spot on the north end of Lonboat Key. The food and service were both great, but nothing super special. This is a classic diner. They do have alcohol, so you can always have a beer or mimosa with your brunch! The service was quick and our food had great flavor. Portions are huge, many of them could be split. Food is not bad but the attention to preparation is not what it used to be. My FAVORITE brunch spot in LBK (or maybe anywhere, ever!). We've been coming to Longboat twice a year for over 3 years now and I make sure I get Blue Dolphin at least twice each trip down. The food is so good (and usually very fast), the staff is friendly and nice. You can tell they work really hard to make it a nice experience! Portions are big, the breakfast potatoes are super delicious. My favorite things to get are the western omelet or the bacon egg and cheddar egg sandwich. I just love it! First, YELP you should remove their buy one get 50% offer from their page. When I asked the waitress about it, she claimed she'd never heard of it and they had no such thing. I wanted to show it to her on my phone, but since I couldn't get internet service, I was unable to pull it up. When I asked if I could get on their WiFi, I was told no. I was In Longboat Key with 3 friends for a week and we ate practically 3 meals a day in restaurants. There are a lot of options other than here. The food was just ok. Nothing special. And we had some pretty incredible meals elsewhere. Save your money, go elsewhere. read more

Muffins are great, staff friendly, but the omelettes (I'm just warning you) are tremendous, and not that great(egg is way too thick for true tasty omelettes), but if you must go there, SHARE THE OMELETTE! it is too big for one person! It is a must visit place every year when we vacation in nearby Anna Maria Island. My wife must have a Blue Dolphin burger when we visit. I enjoy their breakfast wrap. This is a great little cafe, only open for breakfast and lunch. My boyfriend and I visited on a Saturday morning and were seated right away! The service was quick and the food was delicious, breakfast was your typical omelette, pancakes, waffles, etc. I ordered the fruit topped waffle with a side of turkey sausage. The waffle was decently sized with nice pile of fresh strawberries, banana slices, and some blueberries, it also came with whipped cream and I think next time I would get it without, it was a bit too much for my taste. My boyfriend got an omelet and it was HUGE! He said it was great as well. There's also a Blue Dolphin in St. Armand's Circle, but there were people outside waiting where as with this one there were plenty of empty tables. The gravy was like colored water, very little taste, and the biscuits were crusty. I make biscuits and gravy at home using Libby's gravy, and it is delicious.
