Food was good. Nice portions. Service was attentive and friendly. We both had the NY strip steaks. Honestly, we asked for medium, they were more medium rare. Seasoning could have been stronger for our tastes. Starter soups and small salads were great. Vegetable sides were mushy and overcooked for our tastes but not a deal breaker. Will we return? Yes. A bunch of friends ate here last week and we all enjoyed the wide variety of foods on the menu and the ambiance and service.

Station Taphouse is a huge bar with two dining areas as well as a large outdoor deck. Stationed (pun intended) just next to the Septa Train Station in Doylestown. It has a very "railroadesque" feel right down to the art on the walls and the high ceilings. I believe the building was originally part of the Reading Railroad, that, however, could be an urban legend but sitting in the spacious space, I would like to imagine it's true. We have come here a few times over the past year and really, REALLY,want to like the place (which is why we keep coming back) sadly it is one disappointment after the last. Slow service, cold food, orders wrong, etc. I appreciate that the staff always makes things right when there is an issue, but unfortunately, we've had a pattern of problems. While the effort to fix things is appreciated, it is becoming frustrating and uncomfortable to regularly have to send food back or point out the mistakes. When we go out to eat, we just hope to receive the correct order served hot and enjoy a smooth, relaxing experience. It's tough when the drinks sit empty for a long time especially when we try to get the servers attention and they seem to avoid eye contact I understand things can get busy, but we typically come during lunch hours during the week when the restaurant is quiet so it's disappointing that these issues happen consistently. When the food IS correct, and the proper temperature, it just doesn't meet the quality that we find elsewhere. It's almost as though they feel speed takes priority over precision. They just want it plated, and on the pass as quickly as possible. I've even had a waiter rushing to the table, literally dropping fries on the way. Again, this wasn't during happy hour or game or any busy time. Just a very quiet lunch. You know what they say about crazy... "doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different results" I think I will have to call it quits and accept defeat rather than continue the cycle of insanity. The place is huge. They only take reservations for groups. The pretzel is big and is served with two dips. The mustard is really spicy. There was way too much salt on the pretzel. The mashed potatoes were great. They have a big beer menu. The waitress was attentive. The person I was with had an avocado and mango habanero chicken sandwich. Great, local place in Doylestown to grab a beer and watch the game. They have some pretty decent happy hour specials, including appetizers. The selection of beers on top is endless! I ate here years ago and remember it being better. We found parking easily in their lot and the building itself is impressive. I believe the building was a former freight house for the Reading Railroad. I love the inside, spacious, well laid out, proximity right next to the train tracks and the historical train pictures on the walls. The bar layout is long and great for watching sports with the TV's up above. The seating area has a mix of tables and high tops. There is a backroom that I believe you can use for meetings or parties. I came a few times for meetings several years ago. Let's start with the good. The tap list was nice, they had a great mix of styles as well as International and US micro offerings. On our visit you could drink anything from a low ABV Belgian Wit to a Goose Island Bourbon County Stout at 14.5%. The tap lines appeared to be clean, both beers I had were in clean/proper glassware, tasted correct to the style and were good. The Kids burger my son ordered was good by his standards and the Smoked Brisket sandwich I ordered was sloppy, but ok. The sandwich didn't hold together well (maybe it was too shredded?), the BBQ sauce was good, meat was lightly smoked (I could have used much more smoke) and the brisket itself was tender. Now for the negatives, for just opening up on a Sunday, the men's bathroom was awful. The smell of urine was ridiculously strong. My oldest son didn't even want to use the facilities. The tile floor was sticky and needs a deep cleaning. Just a total mess. It's a nice looking bathroom, but someone has to see that and manage it. There were plenty of employees just hanging around. Hand them a mop and get them working. The fish and chips my wife ordered was underwhelming and the pasta we ordered for my youngest son was a big lump. When it arrived you could pick up the entire contents with the fork. The fries were not fresh. Overall, I think we would pass on coming again. The bar experiences I had here before were great. Nice sports bar and a great building, but food wise and facility wise this was definitely not a good visit. My advice, clean clean clean and check into the freshness of the food. The building, bar, outside seating area and railroad watching (although it's not a freight line, but I can't hold it against them!) make this place a home run. My friends and I were going to a local playhouse later on that evening, and were looking for somewhere to have Dinner beforehand, and decided to check out this restaurant. We liked the items on the menu and wanted to give it a try. This restaurant unfortunately does not take reservations, but I saw that they had a Yelp wait list, so I put myself on there and made the 40 minute drive over to the restaurant. When we arrived, thankfully there wasn't anyone really in the restaurant yet. I told the hostesses (around three of them behind the counter) that I put myself on the waitlist, but that I guess it isn't really necessary since there's no one here. The hostesses just stared at me blankly for a few seconds, and then one of them said "....We don't have a waitlist..." And I said "Oh, okay... I saw it on Yelp, so I wasn't sure." They didn't say anything in return. I shrugged my shoulders and then asked for a table for four. Our two friends were running about 20 minutes behind, so I told them they will be joining us later (which was fine). I appreciate that this restaurant has either standard tables, the bar, or high top tables (no booths). We got seated at a standard table a little secluded from the other tables (near the big screen projection/tv) which I liked. When we got seated, I saw that there were a lot of employees standing around, but no one came up to us to help/assist us. Again, there was only one other group of people sitting two tables away from us, other than that, there were no customers. We were sitting at the table for around 15 minutes before someone finally came up and asked if we had been helped yet. We said no, and the girl warned us by saying "Just wanted to let you know, this isn't my usual table, and a lot of servers have called out today. In addition, it's the Kentucky Derby, so if I end up being too busy, just let me know and myself or my manager will come around to help." I appreciated the heads up, but was nervous since we had a tight schedule with our show later on that evening. In terms of location/ambience: The restaurant is right next to the Septa train station which is really cool. The outside is cute, and also has an outdoor area to sit. In addition, the inside is really big and has huge ceilings which is nice! We ordered a lot of items: Guinness, two Mango Madness, two Mint Juleps, Blueberry Mule, Mozzarella Sticks, Falafel, a cup of Dirt dessert, Buffalo Mac and Cheese, Philly Cheesesteak, Crispy Asian Chicken Wrap, and the STH Burger. I loved that for a small upcharge, you can upgrade your fries to either onion rings, tater tots, sweet potato fries or a side salad. My one friend and I opted for the tater tots (which were delicious). Our server even asked us if we wanted dipping sauces for them! All of the food was delicious and we enjoyed our meals! Our waitress tried to check in on us for the most part, but there were times she forgot our dipping sauces, or forgot that we had ordered a drink and she had to go back to get it. (It probably is because we weren't her usual table, so I get it). The bathroom is located all the way at the back of the restaurant (you have to walk through the private room in the back - most likely used for small parties) in order to get there. If I was hosting a party, I wouldn't want random strangers walking through the party constantly (unless maybe there's another bathroom I am unaware of). The stalls were nice with large doors. The chicken breast that I added to the $24.00 salad was really good but that was it. This was the second time I got unripened rubbery avocados. People who eat them know what a ripe one is like. Nobody wants chopped tomatoes in their salad. Only cherry and grape tomatoes are sweet. The turkey was wet and tasted like it came out of a can. Food was very good, and quick, though we were there at 10:30a on an April Saturday. I had the Biscuits And Gravy and can honestly say they were the best I've ever had away from home. Echoing what another review stated, we attended the Easter brunch yesterday, and were extremely disappointed. We were seated promptly at our reservation time, but at a high top table. When we asked to move to a low top to accommodate my elderly father, the restaurant manager got into a confrontation with my husband, stating she couldn't do that because we didn't request a low table upon reservation. No one had asked us when we called to make a reservation. When we asked if we could wait for a low table, she stated she could not estimate how long it would be for a table, because she didn't know how many people requested a low table upon making a reservation. When my husband asked if she could go ask the hostess, she just stared at him. She was extremely rude. Quite an embarrassment that she represents that restaurant. Once seated we had to ask a waitress to come over. She took our drink orders but then told us they ran out of glasses, so it would be awhile for our drinks. Once we went to the buffet, we arrived back at the table, and saw we had no silverware. I asked three different individuals for silverware, and I was told they "ran out" and had to wait for the dishwasher to be done. 10 minutes later we were given silverware, and by that time all of our food was ice cold. We watched as every table around us had their food but no silverware as well. The food was horrible. Rock hard waffles. Raw potato's. The green beans were not even cooked. Dry eggs. And all of the food was either cold or lukewarm. Absolutely no dessert. None. They "ran out" by the time of our reservation at 12:45. No coffee either! My husband waited 45 min for them to brew one pot of coffee, and by that time we were finished eating. For the price we paid, we expected to have a lovely brunch with our family. But with the combination of embarrassing service and less than mediocre food, we will never be returning. read more

I came here with some friends after they recommended it. Upon first walking in, we were greeted and seated promptly. Our waitress was also quick to cater to all of our needs the entire evening. In my experience here, the service and the looks of the place are the only thing it has going for it. I ordered an old fashioned along with another person in our group and we both agreed that they were not good and tasted really watered down. Not something you want when it costs $15. The food was also pretty bad. We had ordered the cheesesteak egg rolls and the Bavarian pretzel to start. The egg rolls were flavorless and mushy rather than the crispness you would expect. The pretzel was definitely frozen as it just had that taste. I also found it to be very dry and lacking in flavor. For our main course I had the Asian chicken wrap and the others at the table collectively had the STH burger, bacon blue cheese burger, a plain flatbread, a cup of chili, and a cup on French onion soup. My wrap was decent, but I would say it's definitely not worth the price considering how small it was. The burgers were both asked medium and they came out rare. The flatbread was undercooked and had no sauce on it. The chili tasted like it was days old then reheated and the meat was dry in it. I will say the French onion soup was better than most places. We celebrate every large family occasion here and they have always accompanied us and everything we needed. Food is really good and overall consistent! The outside is really cute! I've never had anything near mediocre and my new favorite dishes now are the mac and cheeses! They are so filling and tasty! However my close relative who is vegetarian has very limited options, I wish they had more in the way of that. Service has always been nice except for the last time we were here. I came here with a bachelorette party last night for drinks and apps. The place is huge and decorated nicely. It was early so the bar wasn't crowded which I was ok with. Our party split several apps and they were all decent. My favorite were the smothered tots. I think the waitress seemed a bit overwhelmed with the amount of food and drinks we ordered, we did have a rather large party (about 16 girls), but she did her best to accomodate us. I've seen this restaurant every time I take the train to Philly since it's right by the Doylestown station and finally got to check it out the other day. The inside is actually much bigger than I expected it to be and has a sports bar vibe. My sister and I split the fish and chips and the crispy asian chicken wrap. The portions of the meals are pretty large and good for sharing. We enjoyed both dishes but thought that the wrap could have used more sauce. Our friends we were with are both vegetarian and some of the veg options available on the menu were not available when we went so veg options are definitely limited. We ordered the flatbreads, which were $2 off, but were still charged full price of them in our bill. We asked why we had been charged for the full price and we received attitude. When we finally received the correct bill, she stood and waited for us to pay directly beside our table, only leaving after we had asked for a moment. They have a huge beer selection. The inside of the restaurant looks sharp but we chose to sit outside since it was such a beautiful night. Two decks with a bar, plenty of room and nice atmosphere. Surprised it wasn't more crowded. Only minor issue was that many of the string lights were burned out and we couldn't read the menus and had to use our phones. The SEPTA train idling nearby was slightly annoying but that's not really the fault of the restaurant so can't ding them for that. There are plenty of outside locations with noisy surroundings which don't bother me, I think this was more noticeable mainly because it was just one sound, not a hustle/bustle of various things like people and traffic going by. Not a big deal but thought I'd mentioned it so people know what to expect. We didn't go to the lower "deck" maybe it's quieter there since it's a smidge further away. read more

Lots of gooey yummy melted cheese, rich tasty beef stock made a delicious start. I'm getting married in Doylestown in September, so after a marathon wedding planning session with our venue/caterer coordinator, we stopped into Station Tap House for a beer and quick dinner. It was the perfect choice! Spacious outdoor seating looks out over the train station (not great if you mind the noise) and it was a nice night. Service was super quick, our server was really nice, and they had a truly great beer selection! I chose a delicious sour and loved it. The food options all looked great! I chose the cajun chicken and shrimp pasta, and what a great choice. My fiance had the burger and it was cooked perfectly. We'll probably be back after more wedding planning events! read more

The wait staff were rude to ALL 20 of us, mostly because we wanted to open tabs at the bar separately from our group tab. Is that really a big deal? FU! Eventually, you asked us to leave which was ridiculous. We laughed at your pathetic employees and establishment when we left. Joe W the owner, you have zero handle on your employees and management. I know hiring is tight but you're better off closing your doors with the employees you have. For a Sat night, the bar was empty so now you know why. You also double charged our credit card. Had such high hopes going in, but left super disappointed. After a 45 minute wait for food, our order was dropped and they let us know an accident had happened and that they were putting a rush in. About 10 minutes after that, the food came out. The pizza looked like a subpar frozen pizza with so much congealed cheese that I honestly think Dominos would have been a better option, and the chicken tenders were both burnt and completely dry. We were starving by this point and ate what we could, but it was honestly the worst chicken tenders I've ever had - and chicken tenders are nearly impossible to screw up. Plus the restaurant- despite only being half full - was insanely loud. They had the Ohio State game blaring the entire time we were there. No real apologies or any concessions - we didn't even see anyone who looked like management walking around, so didn't bother with any feedback - just paid and left. $22 for just the burnt chicken fingers and some okay sweet potato fries... won't be back.
