I love this place, it brings me back to what a stationery store should be. Meaning a little bit of everything and more. I find thing that make my desk and work place a little more fun. It's also a kick to hear the kids in the store having there creative side brought out , also the games and toys bring out the kid in me. I have found stuff in the store I thought were long gone never to be seen again. So if you need a pen a pencil and a pad of paper you will definitely find it here and more Bring a BIG BAG because you will definitely leave with more then you wanted. NO RETURNS NO EXCHANGES! I took my daughter in here to pick out a toy as a reward. She chose a small stuffed animal. We got home and she pointed out that the animal is coming apart at the seems and has a big hole. I went back to the store to exchange and was informed of the policy. I kinda get why mom & pop stores have these policies. However, if you want to keep customers and you sell a damaged product, exchange it and take the loss. You just made Amazon look like a much better option. UPDATE: Spoke with the store owner. There seems have been a misunderstanding as damaged products can be exchanged (they then return them to the manufacturer) . Should be remedied tomorrow. Will update to more stars once its all rectified. read more

This place is great. It's a stationary and toy store. Small, independent and family-run, it recalls a time of care and magic like the world evoked by "Silver Bells." My first visits were for stationary, but now I go for their quality jigsaw puzzles. This Christmas we were also given hand sanitizer with our purchases and that's sweet. read more

This is a charming small stationery store with a surprisingly generous selection of interesting toys, cards, gift wrap, and art and craft supplies. I had to get some drawing supplies and was able reserve everything with a call in advance. The staff are helpful and informed. So much more pleasant than a Michael's type of store. read more

The stationary store is a solid location to get stationary and children's toys. The staff has a great sense of the store, and always know where one can find the item he/she is looking for. The one big problem I have with the stationary store is their inconsistent and sometimes ridiculous pricing. For example, the other day, I was buying a travel Scrabble set for my children to play with on the plane. The price tag listed that the set was $23, but when I arrived at the register, the woman said that it costed $64! In a separate experience, I had purchased a pack of five post- its for around $7, but when I came back the next week, the same item costed $19. In conclusion, the stationary store is a well-stocked store with kind employees, but the price inconsistency makes me want to come here very rarely, because I don't know how much cash I should bring! read more

I will not return to this store, which I used to go to frequently, until the pandemic is over because the last two times I was there, the clerk at the cash register was not wearing his mask properly, and didn't even have it on when I first walked in. Since COVID is spread through the air, it is not safe in this store knowing that they aren't paying attention to my, or anyone else's safety. read more

This is one the greatest stores in the city. Lucky to have it on the Upper West Side. The owner and staff take pride in their knowledge and kindness. I've been shopping at this store for years. But not after tonight. It's definitely not worth buying local, and paying their mark-ups, when the owner doesn't take responsibility for selling a broken toy and accuses her customer's child of "having to have" broken it. Buy amazon or at a different neighborhood store. Save money and deal with decent customer service. For more of the story, I had purchased three fidget spinners. These are cheap toys ($10 each). So I wouldn't care if my children broke the toy--I'd just go buy another one. However, upon opening one of the spinners, it was already cracked. I simply and kindly went to ask for an exchange. The owner claimed that she checks each toy and no way it was broken. Well, it was broken and she missed seeing the cracks in this one, but the bigger mistake she made was putting blame on one of my kids who was not even present, and essentially calling me a liar. I don't care about a $10 toy, but I do care about proper treatment. I will not support this store anymore. read more

I sell many DVDs and CDs on eBay, and subsequently have a need for different stationery supplies for shipping/packaging. This is one of the few places in NYC that I can find cushioned envelopes for a decent price (plus, they give discounts if you buy in bulk). I generally choose this shop over say Duane Reade or other mega-chains because of the personal effect -- everyone here is SUPER nice and always helpful. I seem to be in here also to buy just regular paper supplies and envelopes as well. I have to admit I would be so lost if these folks ever went away. I think the same could be said for parents, who bring their children in for a HUGE toy selection! I also like that they are one of the few places that actually sells cute bottle bags for birthdays/special occasions (these things are next to IMPOSSIBLE to find in the city for some reason). Stores like this simply do not exist anymore, except perhaps in small towns or beloved memories. An independent neighborhood store that knows its customers and serves them well. Stationery, toys and art supplies says it all. OK, maybe its not Sam Flax, but what do you expect when they have so much other stuff (TOYS!) in a small space. Example: I am going on vacation tomorrow and we like to play "Smashball" a/k/a "Kadima" (beach paddle ball). I called all over. Paragon and another store had "the set": two paddles and one ball. I've got paddles coming out of my ears. It's the balls that get lost, Stupid! Sure, I can find them on line, but I am leaving tomorrow!!! I've been shopping here for years. This is a small store packed from floor to ceiling (literally) with toys and stationery-related stuff. I always come here to get things for my niece and nephew and little cousins---they give me good suggestions and guidance in different price ranges, plus they always have the newest things the kids are into--whether it is Hexbugs, Rainbow Loom, Silly Bandz, Pokemon cards, or whatever is the latest fad right now that I don't know about! And then when I need something random like printer paper, they always seem to have it. Plus the people are friendly and I love supporting my family-business neighborhood stores. read more

They pretty much have every toy crammed into a small space and the staff know where everything is. Toys are at a premium though and marked up 30% to 50% more than at the big box stores (and non-city small stores). Great resource for hot, hard to find toys that are sold out elsewhere. read more

Great little stationary and toy store! Pens, paper, toys of all kinds, stickers, tape and more. It is great to see smaller local stores doing well and not being gobbled up by chain stores! I visited again recently on a weekend and found it to be less then a 5 star place.i actually down graded from 5 to 3. The 1st employee that I asked for help looked very young and he said he would help me but went on to something else and never did help. 2nd employee wasn't very helpful either. On a weekday the employees were helpful and I found what I needed. On the weekend its a different story, crowded aisles and not much for infants in the toy dept. This store is very at your service - there are always staff on hand to help find something for you or pull it down from a high shelf. I like this place because it has a great selection of playmobil and my son is really into those sets at the moment. They have a huge playmobil figure outside my son loves too haha. Stuff is pricey and "customer is not always right". Item priced at $2.19. Went to register, Donna, daughter's owner, was at the register and I was told the item was mispriced and actually price was $6.99. Did not honor the $2.19 price. Did not make an effort to compromise. Instead grabbed all the mispriced items and yelled at employee to pay attention to what they are doing. I understand it's a small store, support the neighborhood etc but I did not like my experience there. read more
