Gold Leaf Stationers on Amsterdam between 89/90 has FANTASTIC kids' board games, toys, stickers, activity books, craft kits, crafting supplies, art supplies, etc etc...l've always been a fan and bought journals and art stuff there for years, but when went in last week, they'd upped their kids stuff game a shocking amount (and it had always been good). Really good brands and things you don't see often around here. I miss West Side Kids dearly but this selection (while not entirely the same stuff) came very close. It would be such a good place to go for gifting or assembling little favor bags or a rainy day activity etc. They also have adult planners, greeting cards, serious real art and crafting supplies for adults, adult board and card games, and lots of little cute gifts for adults. Of course massive bonus points for being truly local with the same people/owner working there for years and years! We need to keep the local gems in business now more than ever! They have a delightful selection, and the store is a pleasure to browse in. I've bought games, gifts, greeting cards and planners there (they stock the Manhattan Diary, for any devotees out there). Wonderful, local stationary, crafts, and frame store. We had a custom made kettubah that we wanted custom framed, and the owner was so knowledgeable about the art work, frame suggestions, quality, and all. They have a surprisingly large selection of art supplies and gifts, like puzzles and kits, along with the expected office supplies. They also have a framer there on site but I have not used them yet. They have been in the neighborhood for years and have saved me many times when I have run out of ink or paper. I buy all I can from them over the local Staples as I try to support small businesses and they have some unusual and cool items for gifting- including a nice selection of stickers. This is the most fabulous UWS stationery store. You cannot find a small store with caring owners. Gold Leaf epitomizes this I broke my elbow and had to work from home. I'd argue the price categorization on Yelp is deeply flawed. While the average price of items in this store may be higher than your average CVS card aisle, it's selling much higher-quality items at really appealing prices. Yes, you can get it all on line but for those of us who like to browse, compare and find just the right appointment book, notepads, etc, it's a joy to go to. I live in between Gold Leaf Stationaries and Michael's Arts and Crafts store. Twice now, I have gone to Michaels for something, realized the line was wrapped around the store with only 2 cashiers open, then darted immediately for gold leaf. The had the items I needed, were comparably priced, and there is never a wait to check out. Now I just go to gold leaf first. They are always friendly and helpful and have a great selection of art supplies, office, stationary, and school supplies. read more
