Found Stats by accident and just wow!! Veg burger was very unique and delicious. Sweet potato fries are magical--fluffy and crisp at the same time and no greasiness. Server was amazingly efficient and very nice. Oh and the Down East cider on tap is fantastic. Clean and nice atmosphere too. Music at a reasonable level and TVs not overwhelming. Don't get me wrong, I don't do the Sunday Funday lines that last for 2-3 hours and are 50 people deep. But this bar can be a great spot if you catch it on a night where the crowd isn't too big. They have good beer deals for the area, miller lites and bud bottles are $5. It doesn't usually take too long to get a drink at the bar, and the overall bar is a U shaped bar and has quite a few seats. I've had the chicken caesar salad wrap and it was good. They also have a turkey burger with a sun-dried tomato pesto which is delicious. The bar is bi-level and can hold quite a few people. There's also plenty of TV's to come in and watch a game. It's hit or miss if you're going to catch a big crowd, but it's a good bar. read more

Dirty shady business. Went with a friend for drinks one Sunday night. The dark haired petit bartender gave us attitude and poor service from the get-go, including throwing menus at us. She obviously didn't want to be there making whatever they pay her for wearing a low-cut top. I never stiff the waitstaff, but I did this time; I felt it was justified. As we were leaving, she looked at her tip and gave me a look of death. Later on, I find out a TIP WAS ADDED anyway to my bill. Thankfully my credit card company caught it. I called Stats and asked for an explanation. The manager said he would call me back; he never did. I reported it to my credit card and thankfully they refunded my money. THIS IS FRAUD. I was talking to a guy soon after and he responded he too was hit with a seemingly "erroneous charge". My credit company has reported that more patrons have been ripped off this way. This is very serious and should not be taken lightly. IF YOU GO TO STATS, CHECK YOUR STATEMENTS. Preferably you not go there at all unless you feel like paying a "tax" to the entitled princess of a bartender and the management that covers for her. read more

I love walking to this bar any day of the week to just go and grab a pumpkin beer with cinnamon rim. It reminds me of college again which is probably why I love it. The bar is filled with the Southie yuppie guys (love you guys, no disrespect) and the girls are dressed in plaid shirts, tight jeans an high boots like they didn't try but you know they spent quite some time getting ready (I'm one of them). It's always pretty crowded. A great place to grab a drink with your friends but make sure you snipe a table early so you don't look like "those girls" just standing there waiting for someone to talk to you. Great to watch all Boston sports games. I have eaten there a few times and I was pleasantly surprised. The salads and pizza are amazing as well as their appetizers such as the coconut shrimp and the spinach and artichoke dip. Make reservations if you just want to eat there. Their brunch isn't bad either. I had a horribly spicy bloody mary and I like them spicy but this was just gross. I guess I had a bad batch because my friend said she had a great bloody mary there. Brunch is wicked (yes, I'm from Boston) cheap and you get one drink with it. Great for a Sunday Funday. As a sport's bar, it does not disappoint. Has everything you want in a "yeah dude" bar, and a couple things you weren't expecting. Let's check the list: - Flat-screens? yup, lots of 'em. Stats is your typical sports bar. Food is ok, beer list is fantastic and it's ALWAYS BUSY. Not that is typically a bad thing but it does make it difficult to talk about your trivia answer or catch up with a friend. I think they do bank of being a hub of activity because the decor is non exist for the most part. Very typical pine tables and chairs, large bar but really nothing at the walls. You come to watch the game and drink the $5 monthly beer special. What brings me back is Trivia. I do appreciate that it's not a trivia persuit or geeks who drink that is so challenging you have to pay 100% to play the game versus the people who you are with. I think Stats is just ok. I had brunch here over the weekend and it was so good! I had the breakfast burrito (scrambled eggs, black beans, corn salsa, avacado and cheese...yum). The thing that bothered me was, that after the fact I realized the waitress never mentioned anything about the bloody mary or mimosa that was supposed to be included with brunch. My friends and I forgot about it until after...so I thought that was weird. I have been here a few times at night and the place gets packed. Drinks seem a little bit more expensive than most Southie bars. I don't know, I just don't love the place. Maybe its a personal preferance as many of my friends do. I would say check it out...the dinner menu looks good and brucnh was pretty tasty...just make sure to ask for your breakfast beverage. read more

This place just opened and it was packed on Friday night. The space was nice and well laid out, and all hardwood floors. The bar was right in the middle. The music was insanely loud but they had good beats going. The bartenders were very attentive and quick and will run a credit card for just one beer (no min). If I were just rating the food, I would only give this place three stars. The staff that I have interacted with every time that I have been there bump it up to four stars. They are always friendly and really nice. During the sports seasons, get there early if you want to stake out a spot for you and your friends since this place gets packed on game days. They have a lot of televisions all around the bar, so you won't really have a problem seeing the games you want to see. Many other establishments should learn from this place when it comes to game days. They actually label the televisions the night before so that when you arrive to watch the games, you know exactly which games are going to be shown on each television so you know how to position yourselves when you arrive. Common sense, and you do not have to worry about the table next to you nagging the bartender to change the channel from the game that you are watching. read more

Came across Stats Bar after spending the evening at Castle Island. The place looked really packed for just a Wednesday night so I called and was told there was availability inside & outside. When I got there, the host told me it would be at least 30 minutes (it wasn't her who picked up the phone) but she was very sweet & kind, she told me she'd get me in as fast as she could. Waited about half of that and got a cool table in the bar area. My server was very chill and knowledgeable on the menu. BBQ bacon burger tasted so good and the fries at this place are EVERYTHING! My friend had the grilled cheese with tomato soup/caesar salad and it was delicious as well. I hear this place is good for game days, as they have a lot of TVs! I am basing my opinion on giving it a second chance and i am only judging the food/service portion. The bar is perfectly fine to have a couple drinks or watch a game. Food on the other hand is terrible. First time i came me and my 4 buddies all got the steaj and eggs for brunch. Each of our scrambled eggs were way over cooked and steak wasnt even close to being medium rare. Sorry but those are the 2 easiest things to cook besides toast which tasted cold and stale. Home fries were cooked ok but had absolutley no flavor. We all left disapointed since its not even a block from my house. 2nd time around i went for brunch with my girlfriend and her friends. Service was TERRIBLE. i think we got 3 different servers and brunch took about and hour and a half and it wasnt even packed. Again omellete was well overcooked. my poached egg was hard boiled. how is that even possible? no one was satisfied except for the free drinks which is a goos idea to mask the disapointing food. how do you brink food out before you bring the silverware and napkins or bring a coffee without cream and sugar. i cant say i wont be back for drinks but i cant eat here ever again. I really like this place. It is super clean, the people are nice and the food is really, really good. At my table, we had a salad (fresh greens, no iceberg, stacked high), a burger, steak tips, and lobster mac and cheese. All were really good. We started with some chicken tenders, which are the signature dish...and they were awesome. I called stats at 5pm asking them what time it starts filling up for trivia, and they recommended I get there around 7:15-7:30. Called again at 6:45 to see if there was a wait. They said no. Showed up at 7:00 only to be told that every table was reserved for trivia and there was no way we would be seated. It was literally empty. They wouldn't put us on a waitlist. Stats does not even allow reservations so I'm really not sure how we are supposed to get a table for trivia and why every person I spoke to on the phone said we would be able to walk in for a table. I came here with my parents and fiance expecting bar fare and was pleasantly surprised. I'd only ever been to Stats as the last bar of random bar crawls, and usually got water. I didn't even know they had a cocktail menu until we sat down and I ordered my usual St Germain drink, which was perfect. We got fried artichokes, which were light and flakey and warm and came with a dipping sauce. For my main dish I got a roasted vegetable panini, which was very, very good. The veggies were in some sort of balsamic reduction and there was enough variety to assure me that this wasn't some half-@$$ sandwich thrown together for the token vegetarian. The fries were epic. My dad ordered fish tacos that had a side of a bean salad. Dad is quite the gourmand, and only had good things to say about this dish. Maybe I just wasn't expecting much, maybe I was starved after moving into a 3rd floor walkup with a narrow staircase that day, but I am definitely re-visiting Stats the next chance I get. read more

I was visiting Boston a few weeks ago for my buddies engagement party. He took me here one night, he used to be a bouncer there. We ordered steak salads, and they were pretty good, like an 8/10, surprising for a bar type of setting. The beers were cold the servers were decent, the bartenders were cool 6/10 for the service staff. 8/10 for the prices. The vibe is cool and fun. The decor is really nice; a lot of HD televisions, exposed brick, and nice area to stand and drink around the bar. But thats where it ends. The food is absolutely horrible I have been twice and both times they messed up the order or it took like 25 mins to get it. My friend ordered a chicken sandwich which was a sliver of chicken ( you can get a bigger sandwich at McDonald's). On a side not i talked to the bartender and she said the chef already quit because they couldn't handle it, so hopefully they will hire someone with a little more expertise. read more

You will never be blown away by Stats' food, but let's keep in mind what Stats is: A sports bar in South Boston. This alone should lower your standards on the food here. I've been for lunch as well as Sunday brunch, and neither is anything special, but it's definitely not bad either. They throw in a free drink with brunch which, take it from me, can be a slippery slope towards a full-blown Sunday Funday. I recommend waiting until you've had a few drinks to eat here, as the buzz will definitely elevate the quality of the food, if only in your mind. The service at Stats is excellent, and the huge windows that open up when the weather is nice is also a huge addition to the place's overall ambience. Pretty good service and good at handling a large party with split bill. Tried the nachos, and spinach and artichoke dip which were both great! Had the clam chowder as well which has bacon in it (LOVE) and split a Caesar salad that was pretty average. Also tried a pistachio shot here delicious like candy. Ok, so as someone who frequents this spot fairly frequently, I think its about time I write a review. As another reviewer mentioned, the ambience in here is nice - I think they were going for a cleaner/sleeker take on a sports bar - which they pull off quite successfully in my mind. As a bar, you can't beat this place, which provides a nice alternative to the J for us living on the west side. Any night of the week, you can walk by and expect to see it fairly busy between 7-10. On the weekends, the place is usually packed! Some key features for me: - Prompt service (never had to wait very long to order a drink or food) - Lively environment, chock full of tv's showing every game you could ever want to see (don't see your game, the staff will happily change a channel for you) - Monthly drink specials!! (Finally! They had Shipyard Pumpkin in October for $3 a pint and this month they are featuring Long Trail Hibernator) In terms of food, I have never been disappointed. Have tried a number of dishes which were all pretty good. The buffalo calamari and house (prosciutto cheese and grape tomatos) pizza are some stand-outs in my opinion. I have been to STATS twice in the past two weeks. I am looking for a new spot in Southie and figured I should go since it has been open for months. I gave it three stars only because some of it is good- and some not so good. Good: *After reading reviews on yelp, we went with Buffalo Calamari, it was AWESOME!!! So delicious. *Steak and Cheese sub also amazing! *Additionally, both meals I got, I subbed out the fries and got a side salad. They do a really good job with the side salad and you feel like you are a getting a decent dose of vegetables, not just lettuce on a plate. *The other good thing this place does is beer specials! Apparently once a month they have a pint on special for $3. That is hard to find, and makes it worth it. Bad: *The music in this place is a nightmare. I don't mind pop music, and actually enjoy it mixed in. But it is a sports bar- you can't play only pop. Our first time there, we heard Brit Spears, Lady Gaga, Katie Perry, and Kesha, in order...basically on repeat. It was brutal. We must have forgotten about that, because we went back on Wed and were surprised when the music was so awful. *My boyfriend got the meatloaf and wasn't crazy about it. *The turkey italiano sandwich was decent. *Also really crowded and hard to get a seat at the bar both times. read more

Went there for the first time last weekend after work. I had only of heard of Stats but never seen or visited. I worked till about 10:30 that night and headed over there after. By the time I got there the place was packed. I had to wait for someone to leave to get in. But it was only a few minutes. I'm sure lines do form once it gets later. It's a decent size neighborhood bar. It fills up mostly with young adults and locals. Seemed to be a good mix of groups and then singles. Pretty ideal for the sharks and people looking for a one night stand. I couldn't find my party it was so packed. Not a bad thing. Very lively and they had a good amount of tv's in the bar. Once I found my party I wasted no time catching up drinking. they have a decent selection of drafts on tap, but they make a great cocktail. I had a few Stoli Razz and Soda's, quiet a few actually. My party knew people who worked there and the owner and they raved about how great the place was, and they were right. It's a nice bar to go out and have a great time. I hope to try the food next time, what surrounding tables had all look and smelled great. All my Stoli cocktails were nice and strong. About $7 for each drink which is better than a downtown price at that time of night. Once it's packed it''s kind of hard to make your way through the bar to the opposite end, but if your small you shouldn't worry. But aside from that, no complaints. The door staff and servers/bartenders were all very nice and attentive. I gotta say I love Stats. If I was a Brit, this would be my "local" as I'm here at least once most weeks. For a sports bar in Southie, Stats has a really solid menu with a wide variety of choices. Though most of the unhealthy fried stuff is the best. Personal favorite would be the Cajun style chicken tenders - but be sure to get extra sauce (that's what makes them good). The service can be hit-or-miss but the waitresses are usually up for a bit of good-natured banter. The drink menu is nothing special but they do have a beer of the month which is only $3 bucks per pint. If there is a major or local sporting event happening day or night expect this place to be packed (line out the door for the Pats) so show up early. Definite recommend for some solid food and dancey / top 40 and occasional 90s early 2000s rap (Yes!). Also - if it's EVER a toss-up between Stats and somewhere like Playwright or BBG - please do not go to one of those places they are trash (especially BBG). Go to Stats. read more

They told us around 9:45 am the next morning that our table was ready, but at that point I was already back home (in Trenton, NJ).
