As someone who needs storage to operate my business, I highly recommend against using this company and location. No offense to some of the friendly staff I have met here. This is on Price Self Storage as a company and their upper management, not the people who show up to watch the property. Bad hours and insanely expensive in comparison to competitors with no increase in value. I have been stuck here because of proximity to my business HQ and various living arrangements, but now would happily drive an hour away for any other storage facility as well as pay thousands up front to simply get out. I would save money and time in the end. If you are going to be closed on any holiday at any time, you need to make sure all of your listings and hours are up to date on the internet. You also need to send out an email to your customers informing them. Not just posted in an analog format at the gate for when customers show up needing the space they pay out the nose for. I had really disappointing experiences with two other storage places in the area (misrepresenting the size of their units, not being open when you go to check in- the last thing I needed on moving day). I showed up to Price storage really stressed and they instantly made me feel taken care of. Not only were they the most affordable option but also the cleanest, easiest to access and had the friendliest staff. Seriously, these ladies are so lovely. They took me around to view multiple units on a golf cart, spent a lot of time trying to find me the right size at the best price. The place is immaculate. They have carts and wide open doors and plenty of space to pull up alongside your unit. They are in a super safe location with gated entry. They always had at least two staff members on site so there was someone to talk to when I forgot my code or needed a cart. Choose this place, you won't regret it! read more

I had the WORST EXPERIENCE with Michelle at the location in Solana Beach today! I was talking with Chris who gave me 2 quotes at move in and emailed me the breakdown the day of move in and when I arrived there Michelle added on a 3 month deposit even though I was only needing a small 5by 5 for 2 months max and even after my friend who took time out of his day with the truck drive all the way with my things thru del Mar traffic to help me and they knew I was coming and treated me like I was scum. it was worse then a bait and switch at a car lot. Michelle treated me like I was a worthless looser not good enough for her storage unit and let me tell u i am glad cuz in less then 4 min I found a much bigger better and much more professional storage unit that puts her to shame. I give them a negative 5 stars but inhsve tongive 1 star to post this review that needs to be taken seriousky. They don't even deserve even one star. Price Self Storage? More like HIDDEN PRICE SELF STORAGE!! The service rep at the call center quoted me a price over the phone. I asked specifically, "flat rate?" She assured me "yes! Flat rate. No additional fees."... SIKE! Just before signing the lease and paying their ridiculously overpriced admin fees, Price Storage demands to charge additional insurance, EVEN WITH proof of home or renters insurance - yup, that's how they get you! When I chose not to sign the lease still reflecting the additional charges even after sending my policy to them - which I have the email to prove it - the leasing agent still didn't change the contract. I asked to have a manager call me to go over the details before making the commitment. The leasing rep said "Sure, no problem." I figured, we can handle this like adults right? When the manager called, I was baffled by the grotesque tone, attitude, and unprofessionalism of Tonya. Tonya called to inform me that she was refusing to lease to me because - verbatim "if our customers do not trust us at Price Self Storage, then we will not lease to them." Um, oooook? Lol Thanks! I'll just go across the street to Solana Beach Storage and do business with them. Which I did. They are fantastic! THEY actually have 5 star reviews!!! Obviously, I can't say the same about Price Self Storage. Their sad little three stars speak for themselves. Hey, they earned them somehow I guess. I give 1. Absolutely terrible do not let the looks fool you it looks clean and nice well you can see from the pictures my belongings have been destroyed from mildew and mold for Sept 15 to Oct 1 I called and went to the unit telling them something was wrong it smells musty then come back with full blown mildew and mold all over and they said too bad do not rent here they still have not responded the district manager has not bothered to call me with over 100k in belongings being ruined from their negligence and laziness they did not attend to the issue before hand to prevent the problem at their facility read more

I've been a customer here for over three years. I'm in the process of moving out and I call the office to find out when I'm paid through. I'm told that I'm paid through March 2. So then I moved out and do my final check out on February 27, 3 days early. I'M CHARGED $118 FOR NOT GIVING THEM 15 DAYS NOTICE????? That's 25% of my monthly rent for having vacated three days early!???? On the gate it's posted that you must check out with your office when you vacate the unit but nowhere (except on the lease according to the manager which was signed over three years ago) does it state that you need to give them 15 days notice. These people are crooks. I was putting some boxes back in my unit when I realized I left unit keys at home, about two minutes away on valley avenue. I left my box right outside my unit and ran to my car to get my unit keys. Well in the 2 minutes it took me to return, the office staff sent the maintenance guy to my unit and he trash my box with my Christmas ornaments in them. He refused to help me get my ornaments and the people inside made me buy a new box. Also they will harass you with phone calls with aggressive telemarketers and multiple warning emails monthly to both warn and remind you have an invoice. They will get very aggressive with law suit claims if your delayed and have no money, I was between jobs for 30 days and they started law suit submissions with the county of San Diego. The physical plant is clean and the staff is helpful, but once you are moved in the monthly rent increases come fast and furious. I received a 6% rent increase in month 3, a 9% rent increase in month 5, and a 6% rent hike in month 9. All told that is an outrageous 21% rent increase over 9 months. I bailed. I have been a tenant for over FIVE years and I finally have had enough - this place advertises that they will beat any prices and are the lowest in town - that's how they bait you and them up up up goes your rates and every six month or LESS - when addressing this with them they said that all other rates were higher? It was non- negotiable your rent was going up - they didn't do anything - when we started at 300 and are now at 700 - that's some serious inflation especially when I am now in a smaller space - I was planning to leave anyway - they don't value a long term customer it's more like - well sucker we got you - but today took the cake - I had just paid my rent and went to go take out my vehicle - we were locked out - they wanted us to sign a New contract which since I was leaving refused to sign - they proceeded to tell me that until I did my vehicle would be locked in! Are you kidding me? Strong arm tactics to get you to sign a NEW contract with what terms? They said it's the same - then I ask why do I need to sign it? Buyer beware - the business practices here are questionable and don't expect to be a valued customer as you wont be - money money money is all they care about - I've never been greeted kindly in the 5 years I've been there- when I told them I'd be writing a review on YELP they made no attempt to try to do anything - rather the one lady said - "and we will write a response" as if they were armed and ready to dispute whatever I said !
