This location has come a long way. The inconsistency in cooking still persists but during a busy period we were served our food in a reasonable amount of time. I had the 7x7 minus cheese. Burgers were well done. The manager was on his way out but still took time to interact with my children who loved their meal. This location could be great. OK guys, stay with me on this one for a minute. Does Steak-n-Shake have the best burgers, no, they don't. Do they have great service? Come-on, really? What they do have is real meat and not some derivative of the meat family like most fast-food restaurants. I can get a freshly made to order, triple-cheeseburger (no fries, no drink) for under $5 and that's with taxes included. When I'm on the move and don't have time to lollygag, I can still get a good dose of protein for under $5; are you kidding me - that's awesome! I've rated 5-Guys (very good) or Burger-Fi (outstanding!) but when I need cheeseburger NOW and time is not on my side, I stop at the Steak-n-Shake drive thru. I have been to this Steak N Shake twice now and will never go back. The first time the food was average Steak N Shake food (in my opinion good when the mood strikes but not worth going out of my way for), the service was on the low end of average, and my shake tasted like soap. On my second and last attempt to eat here I was completely ignored. Walked in and stood by the "Please wait to be seated" sign for almost ten minutes. There were two waitresses sitting at the counter talking on their cell phones and a manager at the cash register checking receipts. There was only one table that had customers seated. After about ten minutes I approached the manager and asked if I could just take a seat at any table, only to have him look up from the receipts and make an annoyed sound. He then went back to his receipts and ignored me. I was unable to catch his name, however, he was a skinny older guy with glasses. Never had a problem at the Barrett PKWY location but live a lot closer to this location. Sad, but looks like Steak N Shake lost a customer. Since then, it seems no one cares about their job or quality of food/beverage. From what the server told us, management is lazy, and doesn't care if they have enough employees because corporate cares more about the money being saved from sending employees home early. We've been going to this location for a few years. The food is consistent and well priced. Burgers for us and chicken strips for our daughter. The shakes are good as well. That being said, this has to be the most poorly managed restaurant in the area. The past 3 to 4 times we've been in there the wait staff (a variety of young women) have been truly horrible at their jobs. We have waited for extended periods of time to get a seat as well as to pay our bill at the register. I can almost look past those flaws if it wasn't for the fact that every waitress we've had recently has acted as if they would rather be anywhere else but there. Our last waitress (the one with long red hair) complained to us as well as the tables around us about how she didn't want to be there and that she was overworked. I hope the management takes these reviews to heart. This does not seem to be a temporary issue at this location. It's going to take a lot to get me back in there. My wife and I used to be regulars at the Kennesaw location because it worked for us to meet for lunch. It was good down there and we had a FANTASTIC lady named Tammy Ponto who was our regular server. We'd just nod and she'd go put our food order in. She made sure we were taken care of every time. Those were the days... Fast forward about 10 years and we've now got this location in Acworth that is closer to our house. Except......it's AWFUL. I don't see how they have let it get this bad unless the regional manager knows about it and just doesn't care. SURELY the management team has to be reading their own reviews - right? They've gotta know that change has been sorely needed. We gave this location a bunch of chances as we actually like S&S food. My Dr. doesn't...but we do. However, every single chance we gave them was a disaster. From inept servers who just didn't have a clue to really badly cooked food to tables that never got bussed or cleaned to non-existent cashiers who would let 10-12 people pile up trying to settle up and get out of there. We've had HORRIBLE service there multiple times. The last time was a few months ago now and I remember this couple standing in the entry waiting to be seated for around 10 minutes while we were waiting right next to them trying to pay. I finally leaned over and told the guy - "I think I'd rethink the choice to eat her if I were you". He looked around at the chaos that was going and and they nodded and left. First off i would like to say that i downloaded the app just so i could write this review. We arrived at this location and it was not a particularly busy day. We were seated within 5 minutes of arriving and ordered our food and shakes shortly after sitting. A half hour went by without seeing our waitress again. After about 35 minutes our shakes finally came out. Shortly after receiving our shakes, another patron went up to ask about his food as they had been waiting for 45 minutes now.
