I love steak 'n Shake however this was the worst experience ever! Only the drive-through was open. The person taking our order sounded like he really didn't want to be to work at work today. Once we got to the window there was no greeting. Food was shoved in our face and then they walked away. We had to wait a couple seconds to ask for ketchup. Then we parked in the parking lot to eat our food. The burgers were cold and just nasty. The fries were so salty my blood pressure probably went up. Only come to this location if you want them to get your food wrong, then when you address it at the window before driving off, they tell you that you will have to get back in the drive thru line if you would like them to give you what you ordered. Never place an online order. My 2 burgers were supposed to be ready by 1:46pm. I showed up to the drive thru at that exact time and was told that I have to go inside to pick up my order, which I've never had to do before. I go inside and wait 10 minutes for someone to help me. I tell the person I have an online order and they say that they will begin to make it right away. I explain it should've already been made. They say nothing and walk away. This location gets he prize for worst service. After repeated visits over two years the poor service has declined even further. This place ranks high only for consistency - albeit for bad service. We waited over 10 minutes for a waiter to approach us. Of the five orders, four were wrong even though they were repeated. We had to request silver twice. And then had to again request a spoon for the chili. The portion for the Childs Mac was quite small. One in our party ordered cottage cheese. When the meals came he told us they don't carry it. I asked what we could substitute and he was surprised that we would want an alternative side. This isn't the first time we had the problem with cottage cheese at this location. They NEVER carry it at this location even though it stays on the menu. The meals took longer to arrive than at any other location in Georgia or Florida. When we told our server that we wanted to order shakes he walked away. Another server went to him to explain that we really wanted shakes. He came over to ask if we really wanted to order. I guess few people order shakes at Steak and Shake. We like the chain but this location is so poor that we are unlikely to return. read more

My favorite burgers in town...however, this place has THE WORST service and wait times of any food establishment in the history of western civilization. It is unfortunate, because the food is so tasty... There is almost a 100% chance that they will either make you wait 25-30 minutes for a take-out/drive-thru order when it's super slow (I've waited over an hour for one to-go burger on nights when they're busy, no joke), or that they will almost for sure mess up your order (charge extra for something not ordered, forget to give you something that you had paid for, incorrectly prepare your burger, with ingredients that you had asked to be left off)... Of the last 5 attempted visits, over the last few months...2 times, I was informed that they could not serve food, because not enough employees had shown up for their shift, and 2 other times, I was informed that it would be a 30-minute wait for a burger (with no other guests there) Worst ran business in America! read more

Very clean and friendly service. Waiter hooked it up with free drinks. Went during lunch hour 1:00 pm.

The service was very poor and my husband did not get what he ordered. When he told the waitress, she acted as she didn't care. After I had finished my meal, he still had not received the food that he ordered. I asked the waitress to send a manager to the table and a woman came to the table who was not a manager. She was very rude. Finally the manager came to the table and said that I had called the employee the "N" word and I was to never come in the restaurant again. I didn't know what she was talking about, I don't use that word nor do I talk ugly. I asked what employee said that because I wanted to speak to the employee. My husband's food came in a take out bag and was thrown on the table after we had finished our meal. I reported the incident to the corporate office and to the Better Business Bureau. Corporate needs to clean house at this restaurant and get a competent manager and employees who can do the job. The floor was filthy and the employees were lazy and the manager told a lie on me. We love Steak 'n Shake food but have traditionally experienced poor service, no matter where we were traveling. We we pleasantly surprised to be seated right away, all of the guests had been served and eating and we were greeted by Shikari Adkins shortly after we were seated. We got our food in a timely manner AND our orders were all correct... just as we ordered!!! Apparently the owner(s) are rectifying all of the problems we read about. Staff is soooo slow, not even busy, takes 20 minutes to get order taken, 2nd time here this week, MISTAKE, will not be back for a long time, they need new staff. Takes too long to eat here! Exceptional service for even the toughest of customers. We were greeted with a smile and told the waitress we were in a rush. She took our orders and immediately put our orders in. Our food was hot and out in 5 minutes. The milkshake came out and we told them we needed it to go. With took it and even put fresh whipped cream and a cherry on top. This place is a joke. We waited easily 20 minutes to PLACE an order at the front desk. The cook clearly hates working here, and with an attitude told us it would a while before we were helped. Finally another staff person came over and took our order. The cook decided to take a break after we placed order and disappeared to back for at least 5 minutes. The workers all seem like they hate customers and working together. Food is decent though, once you shave years off your life waiting for it. read more

I love that they are open when I get off my late night shift but over the last 4 visits I've asked for a milkshake no cherry due to allergies. And Everytime I get a cherry I know it's late at night and working in the restaurant industry myself it can get stressful but a food allergy is serious stuff read more

Here to join the long list of other people who had a poor experience here. This is probably the worst steak and shake I've ever been to. The quality of service is awful. A lady who worked there standing outside of the diner said we couldn't come in to eat even though we arrive 30 mins before "closing" -- it's a 24/7 diner. She complained how she didn't want to take us in and work overtime even though we were there well before closing. She wasted our time and gas coming here. I didn't think it was possible but this location is actually gotten worse. I know they closed it for a long time cuz they had all sorts of problems but now nothing's really fixed only they've complicated things by adding kiosks yet they seem to have maintained the same unpleasant and unhelpful employees that they had previously. Case in point, my Frisco melt came up and I asked for a side of Frisco sauce. I was told it would be $0.40 and I said okay I only have a card though, so she handed it to me and said I don't have time for this effing c h i t and then stormed off. Okay that's fine hope you have time to bus the table that I left for you to clean. A better attitude would go an awful long way. I pity the franchisee that owns this place. Oh and another way that they've destroyed their customer service focus is that they don't wait on you anymore and they just have kiosks that you walk up to and order from. I've been to this location twice, and I will never be back. The first time I went me and the person I was with were seated and sat there for 15 minutes without being greeted. The second time we went, we stood at the front of the restaurant waiting to be seated for 20 minutes without being greeted or seated. Both times the place was near-empty, despite it being a reasonable hour both times. (reasonable for their 24-hour shtick anyway.) I like their food. It's good and it's cheap and it's nice to be able to get sit-down food at all hours of the night. Fast food gets old. This is not the first time I've been to the Steak N Shake I have been here with my family several times over the years needless to say service is never great but last night was the boiling point. We got to Steak N Shake around 7 o'clock pm and waited 30 minutes to be seated then waited another 15 minutes before anyone came and took our drink orders then waited 17 minutes before we got our milkshakes and another 22 before we got our food now you would think the restaurant was slam packed but it was not there were about four other tables than ours and about 15 people working. I do not know what the problem is other than the time the drive thru and it seems all of their concern for customer service goes to that because it's being reported back to their corporate office. By the time we got out it was after 9 p.m. and everyone was less than happy there was a line to speak to the manager as everyone in the restaurant was very upset with the quality of service. The food wasn't bad but with all of the frustration of service it's hard to enjoy so if you're looking for good food fast go somewhere else. read more

Don't waste your time. I had to wait for my food, which I don't mind. But on top of that When I got it , it wasn't well cooked. Also my fries were greasy, and I barely got any. I asked the girl who brought my food if she could wait until I checked my order, she said no. We were looking for something to eat on Christmas Day. Very hungry we stopped in here. Had the triple burger with heavy pickles and granddaughter had spicy chicken sandwich (too spicy to her) then got something to go for wife the 3 way chili to go. My god it was like a less than kids portion. It was for my wife. The food while there and the waitress was great. The service great. I looked up a former review about the bathroom as well. The guy who wrote about the bathroom was not far from wrong. It needs to be cleaned badly taken care of hourly. We waited 20 minutes just to be seated at a table and then another 20 just to be asked what drinks we would like and if we were ready to order. Our waitress was clearly high and blind to all the trash piled up on the tables. Food wasn't awful, just a little cold, but that was to be expected considering it sat on the waiting table for 10 minutes while our waitress hid in the back and did nothing. Although the service was a little slow and awkward I had a good lunch. Kudos to the manager for jumping in to help his team when necessary. Our server Haley definitely made it clear we were her last priority. After waiting about 20 minutes to even come to the table, she took our drink order and and didn't come back for 15 minutes at least. It was not even busy, maybe 4 other tables and 2 other servers. We were looking at her just standing there talking and not getting our drinks. She even Refilled a different tables drinks, then went back to talking to other workers before getting our drinks. Avoid this location. Service is very slow. An hour after eating at this location, my entire family was nauseated. The staff just tried to tell us it takes 24 hours to get sick which is a load of crap. The other locations around Charlotte are FAR better than this one. Avoid!!! read more

The drive thru was so terrible that after 30 minutes of waiting for our food, we went in and were told that our order was never put in, even though there were many people working and the inside of the restaurant was nearly empty.
