This place is amazing. I've been coming to this coffee shop for the past 10 years every time I'm in town. The coffee is fantastic, the area around the shop is nice to walk around a bit and the food is FANTASTIC. The avacado toast is one of my favorites in the states. If there was anything negative to say it would simply be that it can be a bit crowded and it can be tough to find a place for a group to sit inside. What a cute coffee cafe in downtown! I chose to get a chai latte with whole milk and ordered a classic breakfast burrito. They make their lattes pretty fast, I did have to wait a longer time for my burrito to come out but the burrito was fresh and delicious. My chai latte was a bit more on the milkier side.. I think the flavor for my chai latte was underwhelming because I waited to try it until I got my burrito. I met some friends here on Sunday around 10am for a coffee and quick bite. My friends had already ordered and settled at a picnic table by the time I got there, but I got in line right away because it was steadily growing. It's a cute spot with lots of tables and seating, and I think outlets, for getting some work done or just hanging out and reading etc. The line moved pretty fast so I didn't have to wait too long to order my hot drip with caramel sauce and baceon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. We sat outside where they had some live music going on (we had to move a little further away because the music was good but definitely a bit too loud). I enjoyed my coffee and sandwich. Perfect kickstart to my day. The sandwich was a little on the smaller side, so value wise, maybe not the greatest. came in from out of town. I am somewhere between a 3 and 4 star. coffee was ok. food was ok. so ordered the avocado toast and the breakfast sandwich. the were out of something - think it was the tomato and just simply just served. the amount of avocado on it was about a 1/4 of a small avocado. i did go back and they first explained, "oh, yeah, we ran out"... not cool... and they looked at the amount of avocado and said "oh, yeah that should probably be more". i think the bread was more of like daves killer bread - kinda multigrain toast. i would think for the 11 or 12 bucks, you would get like a nice thick piece of sourdough or something that toasts up nicely - this was a little floppy and limp. read more

I am only giving 3 stars because I was really looking forward to the breakfast burrito but it just did not hit for me today. I'm hoping this was just a fluke and I will try it again, but there was entirely too much hot sauce on mine. It overtook the whole burritos flavor. I just spied the winter drinks menu and I know where I'll be next time I'm back in Charlotte in December. Undercurrent is a cute little shop nestled in Charlotte. My friend and I visited on a Saturday morning, we easily found free parking in the lot about a block away but noticed it tends to get filled by 10am. There is parking along the street as well. This is a great place to get a yummy drink and walk around the neighborhood or visit a few shops. When we went it was extremely busy and since the shop is rather small we decided not to stay and sit down. The coffee was yummy not amazing and one latte will cost around $8. If you are going for the experience of getting to spend quality time with a loved one then I would recommend but I wouldn't come everyday. read more

The brown sugar vanilla flavor is very subtle, and I didn't notice it much, which was good for me because I am not into sweet drinks; however, if you are, you've been warned. And as for the food, while their Avocado Toast with poached egg is a solid choice, it's their seasonal goat milk yogurt bowl that stole my heart. The blend of neutral sour yogurt, orange zest, spiced turmeric coconut cream, crunchy buckwheat, and walnuts creates an impressive combination of flavors. Super cute spot in downtown Charlotte. Parking was a little tough to find around the area but once you find one there is some cute areas to walk around and check out besides this coffee shop. When you wait in line make sure you take a look too at their seasonal specials on their counter because some of them were more unique than what is written on the big board! The drinks were well decorated and ended up sitting outside with it and enjoyed the weekend weather! Definitely would go back for a drink just wish it was a little bit less expensive for the quality of the drink it was a little bit overpriced in my opinion. read more

Espresso shot pulled too fast, resulting in burnt flavor of latte which could be tasted through, which is impressively bad-- likely not a standard, but this should be something of importance for a coffee shop. Here is one more Charlotte area coffee shop crossed off my now long list of places to try. Cute coffee shop with nice inside and outside seating. A lot of people inside working peacefully while enjoying their coffee. I got a the seasonal Black Forest Latte Iced with Oatmilk. It was delicious it just needed a little more cherry flavor. It was still very delicious though. The prices are the same as the other coffee shops to me. I paid $8.00 for my latte. They have multiple locations in Charlotte. Exactly what I'm looking for when I'm visiting some place new and want that coffee culture vibe that you can't quite put a finger on but you all know what I'm talking about. That and a delicious coffee drink, of course. Well my friends, I found it here. Thanks to a quick search on Yelp, that is! I walked up to find a welcoming building buzzing with neighbors chatting and friends and family gathering. Outside it looks a little old and grungy but on the inside it is modern and bright. There's a small menu to your right of the counter and behind you'll see their staff bustling away at work. There's also tons of seating surrounding it and it goes rather far back. I loved that they had a bar and tables but also couches and lounge like areas. As for coffee/drinks/food, I ordered their seasonal maple matcha and the BF ordered a mocha and quiche. We both agreed that the matcha was the best of the two, it was amazing. I would come back for this drink. With family living down the street, I know I will and I'll look forward to it. We found this coffee shop while visiting Charlotte and I'm so glad that we did! Very chill vibes and a friendly staff. I got one of their seasonal lattes (Black Forest with spiced cherry syrup & mocha), a muffin, and probably the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had, which I neglected to take a picture of, but it was the made with locally-sourced ingredients, which I added bacon and avocado to. We stopped into Undercurrent Coffee in Optimist Hall on our way home from Charlotte on Sunday morning and it was the perfect start to the day. Optimist Hall is usually pretty crowded so I'm glad this spot opens super early so we could beat the masses. I love anything chocolate and brown sugar related so I was thrilled to see the sea salt mocha and brown sugar vanilla lattes on the menu. I got one of each and my husband and I split. DELICIOUS! I love a coffee that has flavor but isn't too sweet and this one delivered. The size was also perfect - not too much but just enough. We did notice while waiting on our coffees that they have a small breakfast menu that looks enticing - next time we are in the area we would love to try one of these to accompany our coffee. The staff was precise and swift in their receiving our order and delivery of the coffees - Like a well oiled machine! I usually take headphones when visiting coffee shops because the music selection can sometimes be distracting/unpleasant, but there was no need for them hear. The music was loud enough to enjoy the tunes, but not so loud that I couldn't concentrate. I enjoyed the playlist, even Shazamming some of the tunes that I heard. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by staff. I ordered a matcha latte with almond milk... Delicious! The only downside was parking. When I arrived, there weren't anymore spots on the street so I paid to park in the parking lot ($10 for 3 hours). However, with my experience, it was worth it. The café has lots of places to sit and work or get cozy and read a book, the coffee is interesting and delicious! It has a a very comfortable, cool neighborhood vibe. The building is also Wheelchair accessible with a comfortable ramp and an entryway that isn't too bumpy. I don't recall any grab bars in the bathroom but it was very spacious. read more

Common sense would've been to take the orders of the few customers waiting in line first, especially since they do have an espresso machine for other drinks.
