Whenever I'm in the area during breakfast hours I'm always going to Original Pancake House. They are consistent and have the best breakfast in Charlotte. Please try the creamy grits. You'll thank me later. They are delicious and just the right texture. A novice did not make these grits and they are definitely not instant or quick grits but made with care. Whoever is in that kitchen is experienced and highly skilled. The consistency keeps me coming back for the deliciousness. The service is top tier, friendly and accommodating. The OPH team is laser focused on providing quality food, service and a wonderful dining experience. I always bring my out of town guests to OPH. The atmosphere is casual like a diner.

Parking is rough but great food for a breakfast with friends. I had the bacon pancakes and they came out fluffy with the bacon cooked well. My group of friends enjoyed their meals to the point they were sleepy. You do have to wait a while almost an hour. I wish they were in a bigger location with more space & parking but outside of that the portions you get, you will leave full & ready for a nap. The waitress Brianna was attentive, friendly & accommodating. Thanks again :)

We stopped in on a Saturday morning and it was packed !! Our waitress was attentive and quick to take our orders and get food out to us! It was a little loud in there with all the families eating and when the food came it looked/smelled so good I forgot to take pictures We ordered bacon pancakes that had tons of bits of bacon baked in. Also had strawberry pancakes that had fresh strawberries on top and came with strawberry syrup!

The Dutch baby. It's a good size.

For our last stop in Charlotte, we chose The Original Pancake House. Apparently this establishment is very busy and has an awkward parking lot shared with several other businesses and apartments. There is street parking as well. We were seated quickly upon entering. After delivering our waters and coffees we needed a few minutes to look over the large menu with a lot of choices. We ordered the Dutch baby, hashbrowns with sausage links, avocado toast, two eggs, and strawberry blintzes. Haven't had blintzes in years. The wait for our food was a little long, but to be expected for how busy this place is. The food arrived and it was definitely enough food for the three of us. The Dutch baby was good from what my family said. The strawberry blintzes were much larger than I anticipated. The eggs were cooked exactly to my preference. The shredded hash browns and sausage were good. The avocado toast was a little underwhelming honestly. It was a slice of toast with butter (I think), sliced tomatoes, then probably half of an avocado sliced over the tomatoes. Never had it this way before. It was somewhat bland. The restaurant itself had a nice interior with a large seating capacity. Even with all of the customers and employees moving throughout and having conversations, it wasn't loud and made for an enjoyable breakfast before our drive home. We would more than likely eat here again. Recommend giving it a try.

We enjoyed almost everything except the eggs. My cousin prefers eggs scrambled hard. Service was quick and ok. Great place for a late breakfast. Arrive between 1-2 to avoid the crowds.

Pretty solid buckwheat pancakes, they are smaller than IHOP which I don't mind, They are thinner and less complex flavor experience compared to other pancake houses I've been, but they are still tasty. For the price of $8ish for 6 small medium pancakes it's good! The milk is on the expensive side coming close to $4 for a glass. Inside it looks like a diner, nothing crazy, and relatively clean. Staff was kind.

Had an amazing experience at The Original Pancake House! The food was absolutely top-tier. The Dutch Baby German pancake was a standout--light, perfectly baked, and topped with fresh strawberries. What really impressed me was that you can add additional fruit at no extra charge, which made it even better. The apple pancake was just as incredible. It had this rich, crusted cinnamon glaze that sank into the pancake and caramelized in a way that reminded me of a crème brûlée--seriously next level. Service was great, my server Anthony created a welcoming atmosphere, and everything came out fresh and hot. Easily one of the best breakfast spots in Charlotte. I'll definitely be back!

The portions are large and definitely enough for two people if not three . We tried the dutch baby with berries, and omelette. Definitely dutch baby was much better and delicious than pancake. Customer service have a lot to improve. The host started arguing with one of the customers and everyone one was watching which was not a nice thing to see in the morning.

I've been in Charlotte many years but for some reason never made it over here but since I had an early morning appointment in the area I needed to grab breakfast before heading to work, I placed an order online. I had the corn beef hash with eggs, grits and toast which was pretty good but the grits were not edible without mixing some of the hash in them.....no butter on the toast or in the bag. Just an ok experience.

Great Service, very courteous prompt service. Food was phenomenal. The restaurant was busy at 9:30am on a Saturday morning, we had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. Once seated server immediately took our drink orders. Food was served promptly. Well worth the wait!

I love pancakes so much and wanted to love this place, but my food was not good. I ordered the Apple Pancake which was a pancake that was oven baked and filled and covered with Granny Smith apples. The server warned me ahead of time that it takes an additional 15-20 minutes for this menu item, which was fine with me. Once it arrived, I tried the pancake and it tasted way too eggy like it was not fully cooked. I could not take more than a few bites before I gave up on the taste. I even asked the server if it was supposed to taste like this and she confirmed yes. On the other hand, my husband's pancakes were light and fluffy! He ordered the banana nut pancakes. There is a small parking lot outside the restaurant. Service was good with quick turn over. I'd give this place another chance and stick to just the normal pancakes section of the menu.

Went on a Saturday morning and service was fantastic! We've been a couple times before and the food is quality - this is my favorite regular breakfast spot. I always order the Classic Eggs Benedict and it comes with yummy potato pancakes and sour cream - unexpected pairing and yum! I normally get sweet tea (its good!) but got fresh squeezed OJ this time and it was really good! My mom ordered it too and agreed. My son got the 'dollar pancakes' with scrambled eggs and bacon links and ate it all! He's only four - ha! Mom got something similar. One cool thing is that there's a small portion menu instead of a kids menu so my son and senior mom were able to order off of it. The environment is similar to a diner with booths. Consistently good food (I've been 3-4 times), good service, no wait, a parking lot right there and reasonable prices - check it out!

I know I made it look very pretty in my photos, but don't be fooled. Here is the complete review. We found the green tomatoes bland and appeared to have been frozen before being prepared. The "Gravy Train" with the mini biscuit was inedible. The gravy itself was OK. Nothing special, not one of the three were "great." But the mini biscuits were terrible, hard, dense chunks of dough. I ate one of them and discarded the rest. The "Chicken Ditch the Waffle" was equally terrible. Whatever they did to turn the biscuit into "fake" French toast is a 100% fail. They were as dense and unappealing as the mini biscuits. The chicken itself was fine. If I was only rating the chicken I'd probably give it a 3.5. The best dish was actually the "GOAT." It was served with a Standard biscuit which we thought was still too dense and dry. I recommend finding an independent restaurant that serves real, "from scratch" food. I should point out that the service crew in the dining room who delivered the food as well as provided cleanup and assistance, were exceptional. They were friendly, courteous, and focused on customer service. I'm sure they deserve more than they are being paid. It was obvious many of them were spanish-speaking immigrants. My husband's favorite is their White Chocolate Bread Pudding Pancakes, with bacon ($2 extra). Don't let the name deter you--these pancakes aren't too thick. Unfortunately, it was a bit underwhelming. It was smaller than I expected and didn't really resemble an omelet. It was a little messy and slightly runny for my taste. On the side, I added a single pancake and a bowl of grits, both of which were delicious though. I had a good experience and will definitely be back. I just wish the omelet had been prepared a little better.
