Original double steak burger with cheese and fries

Stopped by tonight for dinner and they never disappoint. Food at this Steak 'n Shake is always so good and fresh. I had the 4-4-4 Original double steak burger with cheese and fries tonight. Was very good! Bread was nice and fluffy, patty was juicy, crispy fries and food was piping hot. I also ordered a chili and it was my least favorite. Usually the chili's are delicious but tonight it was very salty. Super salty! Maybe it was the last batch, i'm not sure but was not edible. Customer service there was great! will definitely be coming back.

I'm usually not a fan of national chains or fast food, but Im always down for Steak n Shake. It's inexpensive but doesn't skimp in quality. If you eat inside, you can also see the grill so you know how they're cooking your food. Highly recommend getting cheese on the side if you get fries! Their steak burgers are always cooked well and there's a variety of specialty options to choose from, so you can always mix it up. They also have REALLY good chicken tenders, honestly one of my favorite of fast food chains. Their shakes are unbeatable - reasonably priced and also a variety of flavors and specialty options! I had a true 5 star experience today when the worker gave me a free cup of whipped cream for my dog who was in the car. As if I needed another reason to return, I'll definitely come back to this specific location because that made my day - and my dog's!!

    Mint Oreo shake

Came in here at 2am for a crisco melt, fries, and a mint chocolate shake to share with my BFF. We sat at the bar ordered, and our food/drink was served within 10 minutes. I was hesitant to eat it given how greasy and calorie dense this meal was, but it was tasty enough to be worth eating. The bill after 20% tip was roughly $13, which is appropriate for the amount of food we got. Sure it's more expensive than McD, but way tastier than McD. It's a shame they don't have a spot in Chicago, because I'd hit that joint up more often!

I came here on a Friday evening just to pick up some milkshakes...and apparently it is the to-go place for high school kids... Drinks/Food: Strawberry milkshake (~$3-4) - very VERY VERY sweet, kinda like blended ice cream so that you don't need to chew your ice cream.. instead.. you can slurp it.. :) **it's been awhile since i've eaten here.. the food is just a-ok, but cheap... Milkshakes in general are all really really sweet.. so don't come here unless you have a sweet tooth! (I think they have discounted milkshake prices starting at 2AM or something...if you would rather be drinking a milkshake then sleeping.. or you can drink your milkshake while you sleep (for those always hungry ppl) Costs: Classic milkshakes are cheaper than the special milkshakes (ex: s'more milkshake or something)..ranges from $4+ for a decent portion..more than enough sugar/calories than you may need in one day...and the food food costs are reasonable... Atmosphere: you will see HS kids.. and some families...

The service left much to be desired. We waited at the counter for 10 minutes before someone asked if we needed help

The deal is half off apps, but if you enjoy an adult beverage, the house-brewed drafts are also half off. M-Th 3-6pm, dine-in only. At least that's what it is right now. I feel like it changes, so maybe call beforehand to confirm. I only got pics of the nachos this time, which really doesn't do it full justice because they're bigger than they look in the photo. Food is always good and consistent, there's nothing really to complain about regarding service or prices, and parking has always been really easy, though that could be because we typically go on Tuesdays. I imagine weekends could be a little bit busier, but the place is pretty big, so even if you have to wait, I don't think that you'd be waiting that long. The vibe is also casual and low-key.

I had been here with my daughter about 12 years ago and remembered enjoying it then. We all had burgers and craft beer. My friends went with the Mad Max (burger of the month) and I went with a peppercorn and blue cheese burger. It was thumbs up for all of us on the burgers as well as the beer, which was unique and delicious. I took no pictures that day and just enjoyed the outing with friends, but I was especially impressed with the taste of my burger. I abstained from adding any of my usual condiments, and decided to try it as is, with just their sauce. Best decision ever! The sauce was amazing and the burger was cooked a perfect medium. Like many restaurants, Luck Monk offers their regular menu, plus flyers on their specials, including beers and cocktails. Four days later, I went right back there again on my own, to formally review it with photos. I had to go with that same peppercorn burger, because it was just so good, and to make sure the first time was a fluke. It wasn't. I tried out their chili as well, which was also good. This chef knows what he is doing. This stand alone restaurant is easy to get to, and has ample parking. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and looks high end, though I found the pricing to be reasonable. It would be a great spot to take clients for a business lunch. It's elegant looking , but unpretentious. The hostess and servers are wonderful. I highly recommend the Lucky Monk!

I decided to come back a second time to see if that was the vibe for each of the waiters and it wasn't. They were very pleasant very knowledgeable and didn't say inappropriate things to us. The ambience was awesome if I could design my house to look like that, I would love it. It kind of reminds me of a cigar room. the food for brunch, and the food for dinner was exceptional. If I were to recommend one dish specifically, it would be the octopus I ordered that all three times and I dream about it because it was some of the best I've ever had. This is probably one of the better restaurants in the suburbs outside of the city so if you're willing to travel a little bit to the west suburbs, I highly recommend checking it out plus it is around a lot of things stores shops entertainment, so it wouldn't just be a one and done you can go to a movie and then have dinner just to make it worthwhile.

We ended up getting bread and two apps to start off to share. Couldn't have asked for a better way to start off our meals. Everything was great and a ton of good to share between us. We got the chicken and a pasta for our meals and we couldn't finish both because we were so full. We were very happy the next day to finish the food at home. Overall this is a great place for a date night or a place to celebrate a loved one. We will be coming back and have already told our family members they need to check this place out. I suggest getting a reservation as the place is packed!

Honestly..these could make an argument for being "World Famous." Although their BBQ sauce is slightly on the sweeter side, it is still quite tasty and the meat falls right off the bone. Others at my table that I shared them with seemed to have a very positive reaction to them as well. Our server was super friendly and he did a good job stopping by on us to make sure our dining experience was overall going well. It's your classic sports bar type of restaurant where they keep the tv volume down pretty low. This leaves room for a more casual dining experience (at least this was the case when I went). Thanks VTG for an overall solid dining experience and I will definitely be back for those ribs!
