What a hidden gem in an unassuming strip mall! We'd been wanting to visit here for a while, and finally made the trip after a long Saturday out and about. It was empty when it arrived, but filled up on our way out, telling me it's a popular place for the younger crowd. Either way, you know you're in for a good meal when you see the huge doner rotisserie spinning. The owner (at least I'm pretty sure he was the owner) helpfully walked us through their sauce selection and even offered my MIL some sauce samples. She ended up getting the hot dog with veggies, while my wife and I got sandwich combos (17 for the sandwich + 3.50 for fries and a drink). I was going to share my combo with my preschooler since they don't have a kids meal, but the owner thoughtfully offered some fries with chicken for him. We definitely had to tip well for such nice service. So this is no ordinary sandwich, and the pictures don't do it justice. In pics it looks kind of like a pita pocket, but this thing has some HEFT. Filled with veggies, meat, and sauce, it got a little messy but was really tasty. The veggies were fresh, and it's hard to top meat sliced right off the log. My MIL said her unique hot dog was good as well. To me it looked like a Chicago dog from another dimension, but I also want to give it a try next time. Protip: Ask for your sauces on the side. They're almost too generous with it on the sandwich so it's nice to have a little more control with it. This will definitely enter the rotation and will be letting our friends know as well. I just know that Berliner will always deliver and always meet your expectations. Twas a semi-late night drive home, and I couldn't tell if I was hearing the growl of my 3.6l V6 or my kegger of a tummy. It could have been both. We passed by many little holes in the walls on Barrington Rd, but we just didn't trust them because they were empty. Berliner Kebap was full and lively. I know this isn't what most people think about, but it is a good feeling to know that the food is moving. It means you're being given fresh food that hasn't been sitting around. I love the simplicity of the menu. Platters, wraps, and sandwiches are genenerous and comfort foody, in the best way possible. Of course it is all about the sauces. I want to scubadive in that garlic sauce. I could put it on everything! The herb sauce and spicy sauce are also pretty awesome. Make your food a meal. You'll get fresh hot fries and a drink. Platters will have a nice salad. It is important to mention that everyone behind the counter is so helpful and as nice as can be. I need more people to know about this place so it can stay open forever. Berliner kebap is one of the spots I frequent. Its one of the only foods my husband will eat. He only likes about 3 restaurants and this is one of them. I grew up in Germany and the doner is more Berlin style than where im from but it still hits certain levels of nostalgia, everything from the bread to the meat are fresh and homemade tasting. They give you so much meat and fill the doner to the brim. The owners are so lovely and personable and kind. Such a wonderful couple of people. read more

My friend found this restaurant on TikTok and we decided to try it. I cannot stress how happy I am that we did. I had the Kebap sandwich with a mix of chicken and beef. We had asked the staff what they recommended for someone who had never been here. The bread was insanely delicious and homemade. The meat was tender and flavorful. Veggies crisp and fresh. Even the fries were perfectly done. The staff was so friendly I'm so glad we stopped in. I will be back for sure. (I wish I would have thought to take a pic before I devoured it.) read more

Unique food. I had the french hotdogs, each with different mayo based sauces. I love the concept of a baguette filled with sauce then a hotdog stuffed inside. I wish the hotdog was better quality since it didn't have much flavor. I also tried the sandwich filled with meat, both chicken and beef. The concept is like a gyro but tastes nothing like one. The veggies were super fresh and crispy. The people behind the counter were friendly and the place was clean. It's small inside so if it's busy you might not find a table. I mean no offense, but I was expecting less I was wrong! I've had a couple of plates at this point. They include a salad , meat (chicken and/or beef ) and fries . All in generous portions. They also have three different flavors of garlic sauces (plain garlic, herb, and spicy). They are all delicious. As others have commented, the volume of meat stuffed into the kebap was a lot more than I expected. I ordered the half chicken and half beef with garlic and spicy sauce. Just like in Germany and truly out of this world. Monster size and big enough for two people. Quality ingredients, flavor explosion and the sauces are fantastic. The customer service is great, very friendly and we had a great conversation on kebabs. They love their restaurant and very proud of it. It was worth the one hour drive for a hard to find Doner Kebab. The best in the Chicago land area. I'll be back! read more

Went for the 1st time and ordered the mixed kebab sandwhich ... Now the size is huge !! 2 people can eat with one sandwhich ... The taste was average at best ... not bad but not good either ... if you are in a hurry this might work since it takes 2/3 minutes to get your order. Beware ... they have the credit card machine set up for the 18%, 20%, 22% tip ... Fries was soggy and not worth it ... 5 out 10 ... not sure if I would return again ‍‍ read more

Nice family owned kebab quick service restaurant in a strip mall in Streamwood. They serve Berlin (German) style doner kebabs, thin sliced beef or chicken cooked on a spit like gyro or shwarma. You can get them as a sandwich, wrap or platter. We got the platter which comes with your choice of chicken or beef (or both), salad, fries, sauce and a drink. The sauces are very creamy and come in 3 flavors: spicy, herb or garlic. Food was hot and fresh, large portion and the meat, fries, salad and all the sauces were delicious. I'm sure the sandwich or wrap would be great, we'll try that next time. The dining area and bathrooms were well kept and very clean. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area! read more

I just don't like the food, sorry. I went the first time and ordered one of everything and no one in my house liked it... it smells so good! It looks so good! But it just doesn't taste good for me. Tried a second time and I really disliked it even more that the first time. I think it was the texture of the glue like tortilla, I don't know but I had chicken and spicy sauce and it just was t good for the money. read more

Wow. Clean place. Very unassuming from the outside. You place your order at the counter and pick up at the side counter. Very efficient. The menu is limited, but those are the ones you will find are the best. I had the mixed platter. You definitely get your money worth. The food was hot and delicious. The salad cold and crisp. We went to Wing Stop and this place was 2 doors down. The pictures of the food in the window were so enticing that even though I wasn't particularly hungry, I ran in to grab a menu. When I showed my wife, we had to get a sample. We ordered the kebap sandwich, with chicken and beef, and the garlic sauce. It comes on this kind of seeded bread pocket that resembles a pita and included tomato, cucumber, red onion, some kind of pickled slaw. We also ordered a plain french hot dog. The baguette around the hot dog was fantastic and the hot dog was good. Not an Oscar Mayer for sure and it was tasty. But that sandwich shot up to one of my all time favorites with the first bite. The fresh veggies, the touch of spice, the tender meat, the crunch of the almost panini bread. Su-freakin-perb! And it is so big it would feed 2 with normal appetites. I can't wait to go back and try other options. Luckily it is just a few minutes drive for lunch this week! read more

Been here several times and the food has grown on me. Sure, it's a bit on the pricier side (~14$ beef roll) against its competition (beef shawarma rolls / gyros pita), but it's executed very well. I am full full after a whole roll unlike other places, so there's that. Meat was quality and tasty. I enjoyed the spicy and garlic sauce. Herb sauce was meh for me. The sandwich style bread was amazing on the first bite, but probably a little too much/sweet overall for the whole thing. The roll is just right for me in the "combination" of it all. The good meat/sauce surrounded by fresh veggie crunch (cabbage). I don't have an alternative for this specific "package" so it looks like I'll be continually returning when the craving hits. read more

Tried this place - wasn't impressed sadly. I tried the French hot dog - the website's hot dog seems great but the reality as pictured above not impressive. The hot dog was very thin, and the bread was kind of sad. Got the plate for the hubby - mix of chicken/meat, meat was ok. Fries were kind of soggy. Plate was around $14 or so. Hot dog $4.99. We came here excited thinking it was a %100 halal meat. They have a big sign on their window says they use only halal meat. We ordered hotdog and lady at the register said the hotdogs were pork. Wanted to try a new place for dinner and this did not disappoint!!! Walked in and the place was super clean and cute! This fast food newcomer is in a small strip center on Barrington road. If you are not familiar, doner kabab was said to originate in Turkey meaning "spinning meat" and are somewhat similar to gyros. They are a popular late-night snack after drinking especially in Germany and Poland. The owners here are from Poland and greeted us with a cheerful "Dzein Dobry". We tried both chicken and beef offered by ordering the kabap plate which also comes with french fries and a fresh crisp salad. The chicken kind of crumbled into small pieces so I ate it on the salad. The beef stayed in nice slices and was especially tasty with the garlicky sauce. We ordered all three of the sauces on the side, garlic, herb and Arabian. I enjoyed the first two sauces the best while the last one is too spicy for me it did taste good. My husband had to try the hot dog which is made of pork and wrapped in a French roll again with a choice of five sauces plus mustard or ketchup. They didn't say but those are inside the bread not on the side. Nice change of pace after Thanksgiving food. We will be back read more

The food we had was really good I had the Shish Kabob Sandwich, it came with two 10" kabobs that were made out of Halal ground beef, it was nice and spicy and full of flavor. A quarter of my plate was lettuce with raw onion (which I really love to eat on my sandwiches). There were Also two pieces of naan that were both about the same size as the plate. My husband had the Butter Chicken and he says it was good and unlike any other Butter Chicken he has tried in the past (other places make it with more of a tomato flavor). It also came with rice (he could choose rice or naan) The Shish Kabob meal includes rice or naan on the menu... but she told us that there is a separate charge for this. She said prices for Halal meat have gone up. She did not charge us this time but will next time and instead of $8.99 for the Shish Kabob meal, we were charged $9.99 which is not a big deal. They also automatically add a 15% gratuity charge to the bill. I have seen a charge like this at other restaurants for large groups but never just for me and my husband. If they don't include the naan or the rice I don't think it would be very filling, I would rather see them have an updated menu with the correct (increased) pricing which includes naan or rice. If this is not an option, at least tell us when we are ordering. If you plan on dining here I suggest asking for pricing if your paying with cash to make sure you have enough money with you. Other then that, we will be back!

I always expect hot spices with any dish ordered from an Indian/similiar restaurant, but this was unnecessarily spicy. The chicken quality was no good and the dish reminded me of leftovers that had been in the fridge for days. Ate a few spoonfuls, had my husband try it to make sure it wasn't just me ( it sure wasn't) and threw the entire thing in the trash. Gross

That's mostly because I've been burned by a couple of places where I gave them the five stars for a nice meal, only to be slightly more disappointed on future visits. But Pita House earns the five stars for me, because I've been there very often, and besides the wonderful food, I find them to be consistent, polite, and professional, with reasonable pricing just as a bonus. On this visit I opted for the beef shawarma sandwich, falafel, and the fatoush salad. I ate inside as I usually do here, because it's easy, spacious and clean. Although I'm not a huge falafel lover, I always enjoy them here. The salad was a new choice for me and I really liked it. The beef shawarma is my standard go-to here. Usually I order the plate, but lately I've gone with the sandwich. They stuff it nicely. Although I haven't had their lentil soup lately, it is always excellent. Five stars here for me!

I greatly appreciate the consideration and clarification. I asked if the tahini sauce had any dairy and the cashier said that it was dairy free and listed off the ingredients. I am very grateful for her being clear and considerate about my food ingredient questions. Falafel was great, chicken moist. Overall I was very satisfied with my experience there.

On this visit, I went with the Wednesday special which is the Polish plate. Besides the traditional cutting board with pate, bread, and pickles, the special includes soup and a soda. The red borscht soup was excellent. I especially enjoyed the stuffed cabbage, potato pancakes, and pierogi as well.
