The last time I remember visiting a Steak 'N Shake was on a family road trip in the late 90s. I recall not liking it then (at the ripe age of 13) but felt it deserved a fair shake. I can confirm... still not great. I know this fast food establishment is popular among many but it's just not for me. The burger is bland and way too smashed. Don't get me wrong, I love a big smashed burger but I like some crispy bits. This thing is very sad. Fries are also very mediocre. The are small, thin cut fries. So they are super crispy which I like but there is no potato inside. And these were not salted even a little bit. The drive thru staff was very friendly and quick. Bonus points for that. read more

Ahhh Steak 'n Shake...you hold such special childhood memories! I came to Steak 'n Shake weekly after tutoring as a child, with one waitress befriending me and making me a doll for Christmas. It also was an important fixture to me and my bestie in 8th grade as one of our regular hangouts. All to say - I wish it was still the same as it was in the early 2000's to 2010's! As the locations have dwindled, I regularly stop by Steak 'n Shake on my way to and from my hometown. This location is one of the few locations that are easy to get to and not too far out of the way for me. As the years have passed, the quality of food and operations have significantly declined. It's a bummer having a once fulfilling childhood favorite become a greasy, sometimes bland meal. The milkshakes aren't as good as they used to be. For a while, it was tough to get some seasoning (don't worry, I bought a container!). My thoughts do not reflect the current servers, who are hard workers that are effected by the choices made by corporate. I'd rather have them take my order versus ordering via a machine. I had a wonderful experience at this Steak n' Shake location, I'm not sure why there's such negative reviews. I consider Sn'S being like the OG smash burger--super thin juicy patties. I went through the drive-thru and ordered the single bacon cheeseburger meal with fries and a coke. I did have some modifications, which they made perfectly! The staff were friendly and quick. My burger and fries were hot--you can tell they made it fresh when I ordered. I love the new fry flavor, it's just a hint of beef. Who didn't love a shoestring fry? It is sad they are no longer the 24-hour hotspot for late night burgers, sloppy addictive grilled cheese, and famous shakes. Closing earlier and limited staff due to low wages it seems but my dip in here for the first time in ages went very well. The two working the grill and cow shaking station were friendly and quick to make sure my mobile order was started even though I had just placed it while walking in. And the mobile app! Possibly the smoothest and most intuitive one out there, ripe for easy gift card integration, customizing dishes, and sorting options. I only did two shakes this time but find myself quickly reminiscing about the good old days of the Royal Steak burger, Frisco Melt, and many long late nights with big groups of friends making a great time. Prolly not the best location for my first time. Grass fed tallow(animal fat) for fries thanks to maga! Beef is comparably sourced like wendys never frozen. Last 3 times I've gone through the drive thru, they have handed me a bottle of water that stinks like raw onions. Which most likely whoever is cutting up the onions is then touching the bottles or the bottles of water are being kept on the onions. Either way the bottles smell disgusting and then it gets on your hands. Last time I went through I asked for no onions on my burger and they still put onions on it. I asked for a new one and they acted super irritated. They remade it but then tossed the bag back at me through the window. I have to share this because they are actively promoting this burger as a delicious butter burger, and I'm not sure if it is the execution that is screwed up or if they are simply selling a disgusting burger. Our family order4 of the butter burger expecting a juciybutter slathered burger, what we got was a stick of butter on a bun with a hamburger pattie. It was disgusting, and before we went up to complain, we looked online and saw that evidently, that is what it is supposed to look like we thought it was mayonnaise. #58/2022 The steak and shake returns to dining here again The only difference covid was such a game changer many locations closed and never reopened a lot of them have reopened but the only difference is it's no longer the old fashioned sit down and put your order in with a waitress or waiter. They've retooled their concepts now and they have order kiosks they do take cash along with credit but there's also if you struggle with the board they will come out and assist you. The dining rooms are open they do give you trays so if you wish to eat in at a lot of places they are reopening the only big difference is just that you have to get your own drink refills etc. This steak and shake has been up and down through the years I've come through here one of the dining room wasn't open and I've had good food I've had bad food but this particular visit was very pleasant and enjoyable. I got one of my usuals the single steak burger with cheese combo french fries and a drink usually I get a double if I don't get a cup of chili but I had to get a cup of chili and been a while and I like their chili. Two packs of oyster crackers and we good. The burger was done just right the way I like it the chili was good everything was a nice visit. seems like they've got some better staff here a lot more friendlier employees. As I said though it's nice to have the dining room open so you don't have to take it back to your truck and eat it. Dohave Wi-Fi. First off I would give this place zero stars but I can't. Second they got our burgers wrong and they said they would remake it but the pretended and just flip the toppings and the buns were drenched in sauces we didn't want. Third we didn't get 3 things we had in the order like a hamburger with lettuce, and cheese fries. This isn't really a review, but I just wanted to say that with the new digital ordering menus a QR code is attached to your receipt, you can scan it a scanner near the drinks and the drink machine will work. You can also scan the QR code again at the scanner for the machine to work for refills. read more

What I'd expect from a Steak 'n Shake. The speed of service here is soooooooo slow though. Probably the slowest drive thru in Lebanon. So don't be in a hurry and think ur gonna just be 10mins. Usually takes 20+ mins unfortunately. Last time I came they even messed up my order after waiting all that time for my "custom sandwich made to order". This time all I ordered was cheese and fries but still had to wait in that crazy line bc of others orders that took forever. Violet gave amazing service. Wonderful experience with her and that sweet disposition. However, the other people were rude and stared as if they hadn't seen black people before. It was offputting and blatantly disrespectful. The Male manager angrily stared at my brother and I as if we weren't welcomed. Came here after waiting a long time to be seated at Denny's. We got seated right away and our waitress came out and got out drink order. I ordered a shake and my girlfriend ordered food. The food came out real hot and she said everything tasted great. My shake was made to perfection. I love a good shake and this shake really hit the spot. Our service was also great here. The restaurant was kept clean and the bus boy was quick to clean up tables when people left. I've never had a problem at this location. read more

This location is horrible. Service is a disaster and the food is not good. I literally timed the service here and it took 10 minutes before someone came over to take my drink order. No apologies and no recognition that they were providing horrible service. It was as if I was a bother. Then, when I went to pay I had to wait another 15 minutes. Not that there was a huge line but apparently only one person knows how to use a cash register. I stopped here with my parents after a funeral visitation in Lebanon. Pretty typical Steak n' Shake. The service was lackadaisical as I've usually found at SNS, and this was at 4:30 in the afternoon with a small crowd. The floor looks dirty but actually, it's just marked up by the chairs. Otherwise, the dining area is clean. What I don't like about SNS is that in order to lower their menu prices to remain competitive, they have reduced the portions. The five way chili is half what it used to be. The only thing that remains the same are the milk shakes. There are so much better places to get a burger these days. read more

I stop in at this Steak 'n Shake every once in while if I'm on my way to Indy, and I've never had an issue here. The food is normally out pretty quick, and the staff is friendly enough. My most recent visit here, our waitress was an soon to be college student at Purdue, so we were able to talk to her about that. A had a group of 5, and 3 of us ordered shakes that were out within 10 minutes. The waitress brought my friend an extra serving of fries because she thought the original serving "looked stingy" which was super nice. I'll admit this location isn't the cleanest, and the bathrooms could definitely use some love, but if you want some cheap and delicious food, this is the place to be. read more

Its been awhile we haven't been to a steak 'n shake...there's just something so good about the steakburgers and shakes that make me keep going back here as opposed to other similar burger and shake joints! It took them less than 5 mins to have us seated for 5 persons. Jaymi our waitress was amazing who kept making sure we were satisfied! One surprising thing is that the items we usually got that were greasy were not greasy like the Frisco melt or garlic double steakburger! We enjoyed my Western BBQ n bacon steakburger, jalapeño steakburger! Seasoning the fries with garlic parmesan or converting it to chilli fries really makes the difference! The worst. Found paper of some kind on my hotdog. Took 15minutes just for two hotdogs. Never going to eat here again.

It took 10 minutes for them to take my order, and another 30 minutes to get it. I ordered a double cheeseburger and fries.

One of the best chocolate milkshakes I've had in years! Friendly service but the outside grounds need cleaned & picked up.

Manager was not helpful. Will drive past and visit the next steak n shake in the future. Will not be back.

I got the Taco Salad and it was very delicious I'm only here for a weekend trip from Maine and this was across the street from my hotel and I recommend this restaurant very low prices and very filling. Three good meals and three milkshakes for under $20 read more
