    Frisco Melt

So unfortunate to have experienced dinner here 10.13.2025. The Fisco sandwich was not cooked. Literally raw and the color bleeding through the bread is the sauce. The sandwich meat was not warm.

It is sad they are no longer the 24-hour hotspot for late night burgers, sloppy addictive grilled cheese, and famous shakes. Closing earlier and limited staff due to low wages it seems but my dip in here for the first time in ages went very well. The two working the grill and cow shaking station were friendly and quick to make sure my mobile order was started even though I had just placed it while walking in. And the mobile app! Possibly the smoothest and most intuitive one out there, ripe for easy gift card integration, customizing dishes, and sorting options. I only did two shakes this time but find myself quickly reminiscing about the good old days of the Royal Steak burger, Frisco Melt, and many long late nights with big groups of friends making a great time. I noticed the rewards add up quickly too which is nice to offset rising prices. Restaurant was very clean. This location remains an iconic Lafayette headquarters for predictable juicy steak burgers, family pleasing milkshakes, fun pop music filled red and white atmosphere, and good value.

I have to share this because they are actively promoting this burger as a delicious butter burger, and I'm not sure if it is the execution that is screwed up or if they are simply selling a disgusting burger. Our family order4 of the butter burger expecting a juciybutter slathered burger, what we got was a stick of butter on a bun with a hamburger pattie. It was disgusting, and before we went up to complain, we looked online and saw that evidently, that is what it is supposed to look like we thought it was mayonnaise. Beware the butter burger, although my daughter loved it, but she prefers eating a stick of butter over a buger.

Nice walk right next door from the old crappy McClure fuel stop

#58/2022 The steak and shake returns to dining here again The only difference covid was such a game changer many locations closed and never reopened a lot of them have reopened but the only difference is it's no longer the old fashioned sit down and put your order in with a waitress or waiter. They've retooled their concepts now and they have order kiosks they do take cash along with credit but there's also if you struggle with the board they will come out and assist you. The dining rooms are open they do give you trays so if you wish to eat in at a lot of places they are reopening the only big difference is just that you have to get your own drink refills etc. This steak and shake has been up and down through the years I've come through here one of the dining room wasn't open and I've had good food I've had bad food but this particular visit was very pleasant and enjoyable. I got one of my usuals the single steak burger with cheese combo french fries and a drink usually I get a double if I don't get a cup of chili but I had to get a cup of chili and been a while and I like their chili. Two packs of oyster crackers and we good. The burger was done just right the way I like it the chili was good everything was a nice visit. seems like they've got some better staff here a lot more friendlier employees. As I said though it's nice to have the dining room open so you don't have to take it back to your truck and eat it. Dohave Wi-Fi. They also have the happy hour from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday on drinks and shakes.

    Hair in food.

Employees not wearing hair nets as a result, I had gotten a sandwich with hair in it. Very disappointed. I can only wonder who else has had hair in their food and may not have realized

What one restaurant doesn't change over the decades? Steak and Shake! This doesn't mean that they haven't added technology. They have so you can order on line. This chain reminds me of all the good things of the old fashioned diner. If you crave all the good things of the old fashioned diner give them a try.

I ordered a Southwest chicken wrap and fries and my boyfriend ordered a burger and chicken tenders with cheese curds. We also added an order of their onion rings to try. The cheese curds were fantastic - better than several other popular chains. The wrap was good and the chicken was crisp. The fries and onion rings came out fresh and hot. As we sat there I noticed more people coming in to order so I think word of mouth will bring in more business. The menu is big which could be a little overwhelming but I'm thinking you can't go wrong with most choices. The restaurant was a little chilly for December but the dining area and restrooms were clean.

The dining rooms on is super clean with a trendy vibe. There was only one clerk during our visit and she was busy tending drive thru and walk in customers while prepping food. She still was friendly and even made menu recommendations. We had a short wait, which gave us time to study the menu. The pork tenderloin was on special, so my husband ordered one. The sandwich came with beverage and fries for $10. I ordered the Crispy Chicken sandwich. Food was ready in about 10 minutes. The meats were frozen processed patties. The buns were upscale and fresh and toppings were good. But the meats fell a little short for us. The fries were good. We may have ordered the wrong things as other reviews praise the burgers. But you just can't served processed frozen pork in Indiana and call it a tenderloin. The dining room is comfortable. There is plenty of parking and the restaurant is easy on and off of US65. Prices and service are great and food is hot. I'd give them another try and order something else.

The pulled pork with some of the best we have ever had. The brisket was good as well, flavored nicely. We received three large pieces, however, there was quite a bit of fat on the pieces. We received two sausage links. The sausage was slightly spicy, which we like. However, of the three meats it was our least favorite. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. She recommended the green beans. Her description of them was right on target and they were very good. Service was very fast and our bill was accurate. They are first come, first serve, and do not accept reservations. We would return again.
