Lousy service, every time we asked for anything the waitress acted as though she was so busy she wasn't sure if she would have time to get to it. Definitely stick to the breakfast items, the ribeye was on special although my hopes were not high they were definitely lowered once I cut into it, very tough, asked for medium it was overcooked. A loaded baked potato cost an extra $5 , huge disappointment when your meal comes with 2 sides to pay extra for cheese and bacon on top . Also ordered the what I thought was a breaded chicken breast added cheese and bacon, again another $5, when it came it was grilled. I asked about it then waitress said hey don't have breaded, I grabbed a menu, pointed it out, she then took my chicken and put in the fryer and handed it back to me. Well, It is official... Two Sunday nights ago the owners wife kicked us out, and told my wife & I never to come back. Yes, it has been over two weeks and I am still very upset!!! As an FYI... We entered this restaurant around 6:00pm. My wife, and I were the only customers in this establishment. On their menu board it clearly states Fish & Chips with a side for $11.99 My wife's dinner ($13.99) came with a salad, entree, and one side. She told the waitress that she would like cottage cheese instead of a salad. I ordered the Fish & Chips ($11.99), and asked the waitress if I could get a salad to replace the side item. She said yes, so I ordered a salad with my Fish & Chips. When we got our bill, my wife noticed that we had been charged $6.50 extra for a salad. Asking our waitress about the additional charge, she informed us that the owners wife told her to charge us A La Carte ($6.50) for my salad. I told our waitress that the Menu Board stated Fish & Chips with a side. She agreed, and went to talk to the owners wife. The owners wife came to our table, and you could tell she was clearly upset. She proceeded to tell us that we had to pay the $6.50 for the salad. My wife suggested that they put the salad on her ticket, and the cottage cheese on my ticket. This would equal things out, and problem solved. The owners wife told us that she could not do that because I had still ordered an additional side item. I told her that on the Menu Board its says Fish & Chip with a side. She proceeded to tell me that the Chips counted as the side item. I again said on the Menu Board it states Fish & Chip with a side. She then told me that Fish & Chips "was just a name", and the Chips counted as the side item. I then told her "then you need to change the Menu Board to say just Fish & Chips, and eliminate/erase the with side. She then became extremely angry, and told us we had to pay the $6.50 for the salad. My wife started laughing because of the absurdity that was happening. This really set the owners wife into a tail spin. She proceeded to tell me that I was a trouble maker, we needed to leave, and was not allowed to return to her restaurant. I went to the counter to check out. While I was at the counter waiting on the owners wife to check me out. The waitress (about in tears) told my wife she was extremely sorry, and this type of thing happens all the time. She begged my wife three times to please come back another time. We ended up tipping our waitress 35% for the grief she went through. At the check out counter I asked the owners wife for the standard 10% seniors discount (as advertised), and she told me I was not getting a seniors discount. She went on to tell me that "you are a trouble maker" and "we were not to return, and never come back" As We were walking towards the door she repeated the same thing over again. Expect a large menu, a server that will answer your questions but may not want to engage is lengthy pleasantries (although not rude), large portions and reasonable prices. Decor is "functional". I got one of the specials-yes, don't forget to look at the card of specials in addition to the big menu-their version of a skillet from a chain breakfast place. I was disappointed the sausage was cut links and not ground but atleast they were cut into little pieces and delicious. The potatoes were thinly sliced with some crispy edges, which I really liked. Raisin toast as a bread option satisfied my need for something sweet. You can get french toast for $1. Looking at my friend's portion, it's the most worthwhile upcharged side I've seen. Called in an order. Order was ready when I got there. Service was great. Food I would give about 8/10. Had beef manhattan and the Reuben with fries and coleslaw. The manhattan was delicious. This was my first visit to Paragon. The food was very good with prices about average for this area. BUT, the service was the worst I have had in a very long time. When I went in a young lady took me to a booth. I told her this was my first time there. She wanted to take my drink order but I said I would wait to see what I wanted to eat. They serve breakfast all day so I hadn't decided on breakfast or dinner. She gave me a sour look when I didn't order a drink right away. She came back and took my order. She said she would put it in and I thanked her. No response. Next something I have never experienced. She brought the printed check and put it down and said "there ya go." No drink or food but I have my bill? After about 5 minutes she put my drink on the table. I thanked her. No response. About 15 minutes later she came amd put a plate of food in front of me. I had no silverware but she saw that and came back with a set up. I thanked her. You guessed it....no response. I ate the food which was just room temperature but did taste good. I drank most of my diet pepsi waiting for her to return to ask me how everything was. She never came back. There were just 5 other tables but I did not see her. Finally, I asked another server who past by to ask my server to bring me a refill. About 10 minutes later when I was almost done eating, she came with another diet drink. She sat it down. I thanked her. No response except for a very irritated look like I had broken some rule. i went to the cash stand to pay and there she was standing over a booth at the front of the restaurant shooting the breeze with 2 young ladies. I realized she had no time for a customer when her friends were there to visit. The lady who took my card did not ask me if everything was alright, etc. She processed my Card without a word and I left I would return for the cook who provided a good meal. But there are too many restaurants where the vibe is friendly and appreciative. This is not how I was treated as a first time diner. I might have thought she just had a bad day but other Yelp reviews express the same bad customer experience. I cannot recommend. I read more

Been to Paragon on and off over the years. Stopped in with a group. I noticed they now separate the area for large groups with a curtain. From what I heard and have noticed, ownership of the restaurant changed in the last few years. While the food is still good, the changes are noticable. The lady at the register is not very personable and can come across as rude. I got the vegetable scramble without eggs or cheese and it was good. However, the highlight was the biscuits. They are soft and fluffy. Overall, the portions are still large and quite a few people in our group had to get to go boxes. But the food is still great and you can get breakfast all day. I am a huge fan of their sausage links. They are big plump tasty masterpieces that should come with every breakfast. If your breakfast comes with bread, you have a million choices, including French toast which will give you two nice thick yummy slices of goodness. You get syrup and either powdered sugar or cinnamom with that also. Mind you a shaker of powdered sugar... oh yeah... I love powdered sugar and immediately made a mess with that. There aren't a lot of diners in Indianapolis, but I managed to find one. While it doesn't have "diner" in the name, it's still a diner. It looks, feels, and tastes like a diner. Atmosphere: The Paragon Restaurant is located on the corner in a small strip mall. There is plenty of parking. The inside has two full rooms with plenty of booths and tables. It lacks a regular bar to sit. They don't have advertising placemats, but instead, the entire table top is filled with advertisements. It's a pretty cool way to save paper. Coffee: The coffee was brewed hot and fresh, and I have no complaints. The waitress refilled it often. There was nothing particularly good or bad about it. Food: The Paragon Family Resturant has several options like any diner. They serve all day breakfast, plus lunch, and dinner. It wouldn't be my first choice if you are trying to eat healthy as it's typical of a small town, diner. I decided to order the Mexican Skillet. It came with green peppers, onions, jalapeno peppers, chorizo, eggs, sausage, topped with cheese. It also came with either two pancakes or 2 biscuits, and I chose the biscuits. The food itself was good but filling. I haven't had a Mexican skillet in a long time, but it was filling.  I like spicy foods and appreciated how spicy it was without being overpowering. The biscuits were good too, and they were some of my favorite diner biscuits. Service: The waitress was friendly and kind, and the food came out fast. It was a great experience.
