Fantastic burgers and decent prices. But, be prepared to wait. The wait to even get seated can take forever and rarely does anybody even acknowledge you for several minutes, regardless of how busy they are. I am always left standing there wondering if I should wave someone down. After eating, expect the same when trying to pay. There is no cashier, so you have to wait around for somebody to help you. My family and I went through the drive though and I got a taco salad. Took one bite and wanted to throw up. Never have I ever tasted anything so vile. It smelled like chemicals. I went back to get a new one and MIKA who was running the register seem to want to defend the salad and said they are all made the same way. This place is awesome I love the milk shakes I recommend Oreo milk shake but as well as it is the stake is fantastic

For some reason this place is always closed for "cleaning " but trash is everywhere in parking lot with employees standing around smoking! They need a corporate manager at this place bad! If this was my business I'd be highly upset with bad employees costing my business so much money! read more

After senior homecoming last night, my friends and I decided we reqlly wanted Steak n' Shake. We have all usually had great experiences there, at the restaurant in front of Marcus Cinema. We arrived around 12:15pm and waited half an hour to be seated even though more than half of the restaurant was empty. Nobody told us they'd be with us shortly or even acknowledged us. There was a couple also waiting that came in after us, and they had the same issue. When we got seated, the waitress just sat the menus on the table and walked away without saying anything or taking our drink orders. About ten minutes later we got to order our drinks. When the shakes got to us they were half melted. Mine was in a to-go cup (I had not ordered it to go, and the rest of the shakes were in glasses.), which means less shake, and that was disappointing. We also found that mine had a bunch of sprinkles and other sundae toppings stuck to the bottom of the cup, which oozed all over the table. One of my friends found that his shake had a substantial amount of fudge all over the side of the glass. We finally we got to order food, and all of it was undeniably cold and undercooked when it got to us a little over half an hour later. Another member of our five-person group ordered pancakes, which took about fifteen minutes longer than the rest of our food. They never brought silverware or napkins and we had to ask another waitress for them because ours was nowhere to be found, but even the other waitress took a very long time to bring out our request. At that point we just wanted to leave. Our waitress and everyone else we talked to was very rude and we heard other guests discussing the same complaint. We had to get our receipt changed three times to get it right. We left a very small tip and were grateful to finally walk out of the restaurant after paying too much money for an awful end to our night. All of us have decided we like the Steak n' Shake on East Main a lot better, and we will eat there from now on, maybe.. after considering other dining options. read more

Restaurant was only half full at 4:45pm and burgers came to table cold not even warm. Soup also cold. Wife's shooters did not fill buns and also cold. Has to be worst eating experience in years. Not even worth the one star you have to give. read more

I used to come in quite often, but got sick of having to fight to get the one thing I liked to order, the 7x7. Last night I came in and asked for a 7x7. The server was new and didn't know what it was, so I explained that it's 7 patties and 7 pieces of cheese on a bun. I told her it used to be an after midnight thing for $7.77, but then they made it to where you could order it whenever and raised the price to $10. She went to ring it up and couldn't figure out how to do it. She asked some co workers and one told her they didn't couldn't do 7x7s anymore. Another told her that they just have to yell it back to the cooks. Then the cook told her they couldn't do it. Another worker came out and told them they could. This went on for about 10 minutes. Finally I told the server not to worry about it. Another sever who recognized me because I used to come in all the time came over and told me that they weren't supposed to sell the 7x7 anymore, but what they could do is just ring up two triples and add a patty. I told her that I was just done with steak and shake. I told her I stopped coming in because of all the b.s. I constantly had to deal with, like waiting for several minutes to get seated, never getting checked on after the order came out, not getting refills, and constantly having to argue over a damn burger! No wonder steak and shake is a revolving door for workers and consistently has low ratings (on average 2 stars). They keep changing so much shit that no one wants to deal with it! read more

Sorry, Steak & Shake, I've been a fan for years but today I was disappointed. My steak burger bun did not have the wonderful crispy, toasted bun I was looking forward to and the entire sandwich was stone cold. Please keep a watch on your quality - it's important to us! read more

I love steak and shake but I will never go to this one again. I expect to wait in line because the service is slower than most at this location, but tonight was ridiculous. I waited at the drive thru speaker for 10 minutes and they wouldn't even acknowledge me. There was a line behind me and they were behind I'm sure, but they could have said hello and to please wait a second. I've never had such bad service at a fast food place. Generally ok experience there 7 out of ten, but today 1/10 would be the rating. I was not feeling well but my daughter was begging for a milk-shake so I agreed. I truly felt lousy and knew I looked like I felt so I told her that I would park and let her go in rather than go through the drive-through. We arrived at 4:10 and she walked out at 4:55!!!!! AND they were not crowded! Turns out my daughter waited 15 minutes in line to place her order while "Tina" took care of a "problem" customer. You would think someone else could take an order?! Then apparently the drive through customers get priority since at least three came and went while I waited outside. My daughter did not have her phone and I began feeling like I was going to be sick si I called the restaurant and Amber said my daughter was waiting on the milkshakes. I asked why it was taking so long (she had been in there half an hour at that point) and was told "don't know). I waited feeling like I was going to be sick and when she finally came out 45 minutes after going in, she got in the car and began screaming that they took care of three people that came in after her! She didn't say anything inside but was really upset. I called back and asked for the manager and Tina said she did not know what went wrong but that she was short staffed and the drive through get handled separately, blah blah. She did not sound concerned and her "sorry" rang very hollow. Done with them! read more
