Stopped here driving from Nashville to Springfield. Wanted a quick bit to eat but not traditional fast food. Everyone got something different, I split the jalapeño burger and garlic burger with my wife. The kids each had a bacon burger. Everyone liked what they had especially the fries. Each kid got a shake too; chocolate and an Oreo. The staff was very nice and friendly. The place was clean for the type of establishment it is; old school diner. There are a ton of places to eat so not sure I would come back here again, but that's more about me wanting to try new things and less about this place not being 'worthy'..... hopefully that makes sense. First time I went here they got my order wrong twice and today I went here and it almost took them 30 minutes the food was OKbut the milkshake I had to order 3 times and the third time they forgot my order and I had to literly show them the receipt just to get my milkshake. read more

Had breakfast and our table was dirty. Asked the waitress to whip it down, went to the bathroom came back and our table was sitting in water. You couldn't even touch it without getting your sleeves wet. I ended up drying with paper towels. Ordered food got cold burger and hard buns the cheese wasn't even melted at all the girl at the window refused to fix it and the manager wasn't there she ended up coming there and kept arguing with my wife and I called the cops and they said there was nothing that could be done so I told them to just go and leave my wife alone and she pushed me as I was trying to get in my truck while I was on the phone with the officer and said I tried to hit her then when the cops got there she said I hit her what a lier and the cops knew she was lying of course she didn't want to press charges I wish she would have because I would sue the hell out of her and the owner if you don't want to deal with them don't even waste your money read more

Absolutely terrible service. Rude and snarky when ordered and would cut in. The worker left their mic on while we were looking at the menu and was yelling at coworkers. I have always loved Steak and Shake. It was my go to place until recently. They no longer have table service which is understandable because of Covid. But what was I forgivable was how dirty it was inside. It was gross. Broken blind with food on the blind, filthy floor, torn seat cushions. Made a pit stop here to grab a shake and a lil bite to eat and I must say that it was good and what I expected from this restaurant. Where I take the stars off are starting with customer service. The woman taking my order seemed to be quite annoyed which turned to highly annoyed when I had to amend my order. Lady, it's your job. I'm the customer and if I want to add a drink at the last minute, which I didn't do purposely, then You should happily do it. People tend to forget that if it weren't for the customers, you wouldn't have a job. Secondly, I was quite uncomfortable seeing how the managers treat their staff. A woman by the name of Mary really came off as a witch to me and I could tell by how she interacts with the other staff that she makes them uneasy. The customer should never have to see that. Stopped in for a quick lunch. Haha! We ordered our food after a 10 minute wait for our waitress. Took drink and food order at the same time. Finally got our drinks 3 minutes before our food arrives. Fries were not hot and one sandwich ordered on sour dough toast came on a bun. We sent it back. We asked for ranch with our order. Had to ask again and again. They tried to bring cold fries while waiting on the wrong order to be remade. Finally got the sandwich with still cold fries. Didn't come back and we needed more napkins. Finally came back after almost finished. We wanted shakes which now took another 15 minutes to make. Ordered them without whip cream. Guess what? Yes they had whip cream on them. Was driving through on 9/2/18 and decided to make a quick stop for food. Worst mistake ever. I waited almost five minutes to place my order at the drive-thru. Just to pull up behind two waiting cars while one of the workers stood outside smoking. Oh so sanitary, I sat in line for a good 30 minutes before cars started to pull around me. We stopped at this store traveling to St. Louis. Big mistake. Three people came in after us and got their items, ate, and left before we got all of ours. We had to ask three times about our stuff. When we got our milk shakes they didn't even know what was what and we had to have our milk shakes remade. Someone came in as we were finishing eating and asked if they could be seated. Once of my favourite places to eat. I eat at Steak N Shake on a regular basis and have rarely experienced any problems in the area of customer service. I am a vegetarian so I always have to customize my orders and the staff are very patient about this. The food is almost always great quality and when it wasn't they had no problems fixing it, giving me a completely fresh plate of hot food. I'm currently in a wheelchair and can also say that the restaurant is handicapped accessible. So that's a plus. read more

My friends and I decided to stop and eat here. The best part of our visit was the food which was average at best. The service and speed of the meal was pitiful. After waiting 40 minutes for the food and eating we ordered some shakes to go. We had to wait another 30 minutes and talk to the manager before we finally got them. Extremely busy place! But if you can get in the service is great and food is always good. I have no complaints!
