I chose to dine in because I was killing time before a flight back to Houston. You place your order at a kiosk which eliminates the need for a cashier. That is cool but impersonal. Probably one of the worst locations out of the St. Louis metro area. They are slow as slow could ever be. You will spend at least 15 to 30 minutes just in the drive thru. I called the Steak 'n Shake hotline about this place and I received a phone call from the manager just saying sorry hey have a staffing problem. And that was it. If you want Steak 'n Shake go to a different location this one has got to be the worst. I will not go back here any more. Very TERRIBLE customer service. I would offer ZERO stars if it was allowed. My family traveled to Missouri for my father-in- laws funeral and my husband took us to this restaurant based on past memories. Unfortunately, our experience sucked in comparison to his past experiences. The food came out and none of the meals were marked so we had to pick through each sandwich to figure out which burger was which. We found that my husband's special order butter burger was not special at all. And frankly it wasn't even the original sandwich. To add insult to injury, when my husband tried to take it back the young man with uneven dreads ignored him for 17 minutes and when he called out and shared his burger was wrong the same young man gave him stinky attitude. When the new burger was served that same boy deliberately dropped the new burger onto the floor. Then quickly left the area and denied his wrongdoing while he faded to the back. A third burger was prepared for my husband, but disliking the previous shenanigans he refused the burger and requested a refund...especially since the entire family finished as much of our meal as we could tolerate after such a rude display. My husband requested the manager and shared his deplorable experience. The manger attempted to correct the subordinate's challenges and comped my husband's meal. A few months ago, my group (of about 20 people) came into this place while it was empty. We sat down and were having a fine time chatting it up and looking over the menu. Meanwhile, another party comes in a few minutes after us (also about 20 people) come in, and now the place is full. We tell our waitress that the other group was NOT with us, and she proceeded to go around our tables to take our order (we were in 4 tables). She took everyone's order, except my table. And then went directly to the other group and took their orders. AFTER we literally just told her that they were not a part of our group. My table of six were upset watching her take the orders of the other group and were even more furious when she brought out, not just our other tables orders, but orders from the other group first. When we finally flagged her down, she gave us her notepad and asked us to write down what we wanted on it so she could help the other table, leaving us to do her work. And it took us even longer because we were looking over the notepad trying to find all the different check boxes for food/drinks/shakes and all variations of those options, etc. We had to scarf down our food as fast as we could since the rest of our group was already finished and we had to leave, therefore causing us to not be able to just relax and enjoy our food. Sept 30, 2017 Our server Dominque R was the first friendly face we saw in Missouri. Prices are super cheap. We ordered the $3.99 double steak and fries and what a deal! The first time I ate at a Steak &Shake 3 months ago in Illinois I didn't think I'd ever come back. But I'm glad I did because the presentation and quality was much better at this location! I need to try the shakes, which are Zagat rated #1.. the sign says. I just can't eat a burger fries AND a shake. So maybe next time I'll try the cup of chili and shake Bathrooms were immaculate as was the rest of the establishment. Just a quick jaunt from STL Airport. They also have a drive thru and a walk-up take out counter. This is far better than your traditional fast food places at equal or less the cost. Would definitely revisit THIS Steak&Shake. read more

TONIGHT I went to two different steak 'n Shake locations both of which stated their hours online were open until midnight. However both were closed before 11:30 PM. So I found a third location online which stated their hours were until 2 AM so to save myself time since I had already wasted so much by going to two other locations I called the third location to make sure the hours listed online were accurate. When they answered I asked how late they were open and this is how the conversation went.. Me: Hi how late are you open? S&S: Well did you get this number online? Me: Yes I did. During these trying times and uncertainty many places you fear going to. I have to say after my visit I found the staff courteous polite and extremely professional. They were masked up and took the situation of covid seriously. Our food came out hot and fresh. While there was a bit of a wait in the drive thru line it went pretty fast. Went here tonight through the drive thru. We had 2 burgers and chili and 2 choc shakes. The burgers were wrong and the shakes were reeses peanut butter cups gross The only thing that was right was the chili. I guess it's hard to mess that up one ingredient. We should have just pulled up and said "we would like dinner whatever you feel like giving us we will pay". And as thin as the burgers are they were pink inside and gray outside yuck. The woman taking orders when I went there around 11:30 pm is deaf or not paying attention. Had me screaming my order 4 times. Wanted a simple M&M shake and that was apparently too much for her to compromise. Then proceeded to just stop talking and ignore me before asking for the 5th time "you wanted a who?" I have no speech issues and was speaking loudly and clearly. I heard them do the same thing to the person in front and behind me. Went here for lunch at noon on a Wednesday. Pretty busy and we expected it. We were seated quickly, but then forgotten about for nearly 10 minutes until we purposefully made ourselves seen. That said, server was very apologetic and friendly. Service was otherwise very nice and the food was great for fast food. Horrible Experience! I'll make it simple for you, CHOOSE A DIFFERENT LOCATION! I just wanted some fast easy comfort food and I didn't get any of that. I did a late night meal here since there aren't that many restaurants open late. I walked in and had a seat and was told someone would be right with me. I waited about 10-12 minutes just for the lady to ask me what I was drinking and I went ahead and ordered a Frisco Melt since I didn't want to have to wait longer than needed. Meanwhile the table that sat down behind me (after me) has already ordered the food and are on their second round of drinks. After waiting about 25-30 minutes for the drink a different waitress walked by and asked if I had my drink yet and I said NOPE and she immediately went and got that for me. I got the Coke the same time i got the meal! That was the last I ever saw of my waitress. Another different server noticed I was empty on Coke and he gave me a refill in less then a 10 seconds. I can't speak for all the servers there but the ones who actually helped me THANK YOU. And as for Jerisha, you need to find another job.
