One of the things you need to take into consideration when going to Steak 'n Shake is that they cook your food to order, so you shouldn't consider this place a true fast food establishment. I've never eaten inside before, so I can't attest to the wait staff, but every time I've gone through the drive-thru the folks working there have always been friendly and polite. I have noticed that even when I've visited other Steak 'n Shakes, and because this is considered more of a restaurant with a drive-thru, the people working there always seemed to be older (instead of predominantly high school students like at the fast food chains), which I like because they tend to be more detail oriented which equates to getting what you ordered correctly. All in all, you can't go wrong here. The food is always pretty good, but just remember that you will have to wait a little longer to get it. I went through the drive thru and there was MANY things that made me never want to come back. When I got to the speaker, the lady said "Go ahead and order." So I'm ordering and she cuts me off saying "Wait a minute" and she was gone for a while then came back and asked me to basically repeat my entire order.
