Had plenty of cooking to do on Thanksgiving so we decided to find lunch for places you were open on Thanksgiving luckily Wayback burgers was open. It wasn't busy at all just a few people. We ordered through uber eats and picked up in store which our food was ready when we got there. We decided to sit down and enjoy our food which was fresh. The chicken tenders were good also the burgers were good but needed more seasoning they tasted a little bland. Overall was happy to get a meal in before cooking for the family. read more

It's a fast casual burger franchise that sits at the very end of the Publix shopping plaza on FishHawk Crossing Blvd. It looks nice from the outside, and has outdoor seating. My first impression walking into the restaurant was that it seemed dark, and a little dank as well. The window shades were down because the sun always shines heavily from that side of the building. Something was off with the ventilation. It just reminded me of a greasy spoon diner. Nothing too terrible, but just not what I expected. The atmosphere could be better if it was brighter. Let's just say that nothing really sparkles. The service was very good. I was greeted right away. I selected the Classic Wayback Burger lunch special, and made the burger a double. It was actually a very good deal which includes fries and a drink. They bring out the order to your table once it is ready. The packaging and presentation was very good. The fries were crispy, and the burger was fresh and made to order. I thought the burger was juicy, and the cheese was nice and melty. What I didn't love was the potato bun. I just don't like them. I know others like them because it soaks up the drippings from the burger. I do like a good greasy burger, but the bun just didn't do it for me. Also, the bun tasted a little fermented, and not in a sourdough kind of way. I guess it's the type of bun that threw me off. I've thought about going back to try the Cheeeesy Burger. It's the one that has 4 slices of melted cheese, and it's served on a buttered and grilled bun that is inverted. It looks really good in pictures, but I just can't get past that bun. They also have seasonal shakes that look amazing. I may go back to try the pistachio shake. It's worth a try if you just happen to be in the area. read more

I stopped by here sort of unexpectedly the other day, but happy to have tried Wayback Burgers. The inside was empty, which is always a little nerve-wracking because if you've never been before you wonder why this the case is. Anyway, I made my way to the counter and was immediately greeted and was asked about my order. I took a quick glance at the menu, and it was pretty standard overall. I ordered the number 1 with fries and a drink, which was close to $15- kind of a lot, so I hoped the payout was worth it. It didn't take long before my order was ready- the great thing out the gate is that the meals are made to order- even the fries. Fresh fries? I'm in. The burger was really good. I will say it 100% reminded me of a Wendy's burger. Now to me, that's a good thing. I loved it. If I could critique it, I'd say it could have been a little more filling, but I like to eat. It was two thin patties with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and condiments. The fries were perfect. No complaints at all. Even in the middle of my meal the girl working there stopped by to check on me, which was a great touch. I had a craving for a really good burger, and after considering various possibilities, we decided to go close to home and visit Wayback Burgers in Fishhawk. We each had the Classic Burger with fries and a fountain drink. The burger was grilled in sight, right when we ordered it, out of fresh beef, not a pre-made patty. The fries were made just for us, and all was served fresh and very hot! We had our burgers the Wayback way with everything on it. We loved our meal, ate every crumb and I would definitely recommend Wayback! Service was great, food served right when it was ready (no sitting around getting cold!) and we were asked several times if it all met our expectations. Very friendly people! Let me start by saying that Wayback Burgers was decent and I did enjoy it. I would give this review really 3.5 stars if I could. Wayback offers a fast casual dining experience serving griddle burgers, hot dogs other sandwiches that hit high on the greasy factor. They also have salads and milkshakes. We ventured to Wayback Burgers in Fishhawk with some friends Thursday evening. We arrived around 815pm. The place wasn't too busy but there were people here. They close at 9pm. I ordered their cheesy burger, extra pickles with a side of onion rings. My wife ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with a side of fries. We waited about 10 minutes for the food. I am a burger lover. One of my favorite foods and I can be picky. This burger was tasty, cheesy and made just how I would like it. It was just a bit too greasy and heavy for me. The bun was good, a signature on this item is the bun placed upside down with the flat part out. It was toasted and buttered offering a slight crunch. The cheese was ample, 4 slices of American and tasted cheesy. A salty, savory element. The double burger patties were griddle cooked, juicy but greasy. Well seasoned. The burger wasn't too big. I cut it in half to better manage it. The extra pickles were good. The side of onion rings were about normal for onion rings. Deep fried, crunchy and went well with their Wayback Gold sauce which is a mix of barbeque sauce and mustard. That was tasty. My wife enjoy her food as well. She felt the same as I did though, heavy and greasy. Her buffalo chicken sandwich was crunchy and had decent spice to it. She said the fries were about average and reminded her of Steak and Shake. It was hot in the dining area and we left smelling like deep fried foods. Even the floor of this place felt slick because of the grease. Wayback Burgers seems to be along the lines of the fast causal burger joints like BurgerFi or Shake Shack just not quite as good. I give Wayback Burgers 3.5 stars. It's worth a try and they have a decent amount of options. Everything is customizable. I just don't see myself driving all the way here for a burger on a random evening. This was a great last minute decision on our part. We were all really craving a burger and this popped up on my Google maps when I searched for burgers. I got the Double Rodeo Burger which has two burgers, two slices of cheddar cheese, two onion rings and barbecue sauce. Let me tell you, I destroyed that burger. Truly delicious! The fries were bomb af too- dip them in some of their honey mustard and you won't be disappointed! My boyfriend got a classic double with fries and 4 chicken tenders. Overall he liked it a lot, he did wish the burger parties were thicker but I think that's the burger style at wayback. I loved this meal and definitely will return! read more

Had dinner here and I truly wasn't impressed. We've ordered from here on Uber eats once before this and I feel like it was better last year than it was in person tonight. Kind of busy - guy at the register wasn't focused at all when we were ordering and it was greasy in there. Floors, counters, etc. It was $45 for 2 burgers, fries, and drinks and then 1 hot dog fries and a drink. Really overpriced for what you get tbh. Wasn't impressed with the chili that was on the hotdog - very tomato based. The sauce on the burger was good but the patty itself was very bland and not a very good texture. No "crisp" for being a smash burger. Overall, I really wouldn't recommend this place. And will be looking for the better burger around town. read more

New to the area and hankering for a burger, we decided to give Wayback a try. They're a step up from McD's and BK, more like a Fudruckers or Five Guys. The check-in from Yelp was snafu, they don't even have house made chips, but the manager comped us fries. Good dude! I got a Big Easy burger, it was good but I couldn't taste the remoulade sauce. Next time I'll get pickles and onions on it for more zip. My wife got the garden burger, she really liked it. Fries were excellent, hand cut and not over salted. The shakes looked great, they had a Key Lime Pie one, but we were feeling a little over caloried already. We had a less than 10 minute wait for our food, everything is cooked to order - about the same as 5 Guys. They had plenty of help. We'll go back, certainly better than the Sonic and McDs in the same area, and worth it if it's a few $ more. read more

Out on a drive on a Friday night my son wants to try somewhere new so I suggest Wayback Burgers as it's the direction I was headed. He agrees because we all love Burgers. Entering I was pleased at the clean and bright nature of the restaurant. The staff was friendly and helpful. I did find the Menu to be a little difficult to read. Since everything was A LA Carte it was kind of pricey. The food took a little longer to make because they make all burgers Made To Order so I can understand that. Other than a difficult menu and pricey food here is the major reason they get only 3 out of 5 stars. The Burgers were SUPER Greasy. The meat would not bind of stay together in the Bun because of the high concentration of grease. I don't know if this a special kind of Beef that does this or a cheaper meat with high fat content. Either way a burger that can't be held in the Bun isn't what I want. Others may love their greasy Burgers but my personal opinion is that it's not for me. read more

The food is really great but the customer service needs work. Tonight we ordered to go from the register. When order was given to us my husband checked the bag and saw the order of kids fries for our son was missing so my husband mentioned it to the person at the counter. When the fries were done a runner or kitchen staff (not the person we ordered from) brought the fries to my husband and in a very rude and sarcastic tone said "fries and stuff are all in the bottom of the bag so you basically got free fries". As we were all hungry and rest of the food was getting cold, we left with the food. There absolutely was not fries for our son in the bottoms of the bag we pulled out each item one at a time and to have a staff member then come out to a customer and basically call them a liar to their face is ridiculous and shameful. The employee could have worded it nicer and differently but even then still not okay. Why would we let our food get cold and try to scam the place for fries??? Make it make sense? We go inside to order as the app does not have the WayBack burger and it's one of my favorites. Great burgers. Fries are okay. Onion rings are amazing. Good portions. The inside is too humid and hot year round from what I believe is that the kitchen space is open up to dining area and the hood vents can't get all the steam or whatever as it is not contained in a small space. There is outside seating which is great to bring your dog to. When you sit outside they will even bring your order to you once completed. We have raved to people about this place and sadly will think twice about that after today's encounter. read more

If you use a service animal DO NOT try and eat at Wayback Burgers after ordering and sitting we were then asked to either take food to go or eat outside. Liz claimed their was statutes that our dog could not be in the restaurant. Mind you every federal statute we have seen our service dog goes where my disabled husband goes. Of course she could give me no proof of her supposed statutes. My food got cold and I couldn't even finish because duh it's fricken chilly out. This will not be the last they hear from us. Let me start by saying that I'm "Old School". I want what I pay for, nothing less. We entered and I was pleased that the place was spotless and inviting. The young man that took our order was cheerful and polite. The menu seemed a bit pricey, $10 for just the burger, $6 for the fries (we split a full size order of bacon fries) the drink was extra too. We spent $32... so I was expecting something BIG. The food came out & it was this regular size double cheeseburger and a small plate of bacon fries. Needless to say I was not happy. My Love and I were both expecting much more. By the time we finished we were both full and satisfied. The helpings were just enough to reach satisfaction without feeling bloated. The ingredients were all fresh, the food was hot, it was Delicious! I spoke to the manager and explained to him that when I saw my food come out, I was prepared to leave a bad review based on the helping sizes vs the pricing. I admitted that I had underestimated this place 100%. He suggested I try the Chicken sandwich. YES, we will be going back to try the Chicken sandwich. Double bacon burger was falling apart while eating it. It just kept breaking g into small pieces and dry. I called it to their attention that they were cooking it to long. she asked manager Wayne? He said yeah they do that when they smash them down. That does not make them dry. And he through up his hands like it wasn't a big deal.
