My friend and I stopped here on our way to Bourbon county and it was an okay experience. Ordering was fast and simple at the kiosks. The food isn't priced to high at all. The employees all work fast and are nice. It didn't take long to get our food. But our burgers just tasted funny; not sure if that's the beef tallow or how they cook them. We weren't fans. Not sure if that's the norm or if we were there on a bad day. Besides that, everything was good - speed, service, cleanliness, which is why I gave three stars. The service is okay since you order from a kiosk. They bring you the food. Asking for a tip for this simple chore is just wrong. To me, it seems employees just don't want to be here. Love when you order from a kiosk and are asked to tip before you get your food. No thanks! My butter burger was sitting in a puddle of butter and missing all the toppings I ordered. Soda machine not working and no condiments in the container. If they are going to have everything self help...you should not have to ask for stuff and your food should be right. This is about the Wentzville store. First off, 5 stars is not enough. The food was excellent as expected. I was having trouble with the kiosk and Alan quickly came to my rescue. He puts his heart and soul into this store and is a genuinely nice guy. We sat down to wait for my name to be called and to our surprise a nice young lady brought our order out to us, double checked and made sure we had all we needed. Just went to Steak n Shake and was so disappointed that they are completely selfserv now. I went in expecting to be waited on and that was not the case. You have to order from a kiosk and when it's ready you have to pick it up. To add insult to injury, when you pay they ask for a tip. Since their remodel this place is AWESOME! It's all kiosk ordering, but they were happy to help some of the folks in our party unfamiliar with that. The food was fast, hot, delicious and spot on accurate. And yes, the prices are a little higher than Pre-pandemic, but it's that way everywhere. Even at that, it's still a good value for what you pay. The restaurant was bright and clean and all the workers were friendly and helpful. I've moved here in Feb 2021 from ny we don't have I used to run the kfc down the road I've talked to the owner he's very nice friendly and as far as I know he only has this location but staff are so nice great manners always ask what else they can get for you today instead of any thing else food is always hot and there new sauce line up the frisco I just can't get enough of that sauce man so good long wait at drive thru see people drive off but worth the wait for me never have had a prob I'll be running the fire house subs come soon so I'll be stopping by more YOU GUYS ARE DOING AMAZING !!! read more

Very disappointing. Don't bother with a tip, there is no service. You place your order on kiosks, can't customize your order (my husband wanted to add ketchup & mustard to a garlic burger - not an option. The cook said she'd add it, but didn't), had problems with payment but staff had earbuds in and either didn't hear or ignored me when I asked for help. They call your number when food is done, but the shakes didn't come out until we were done with our food. The garlic burgers came out good, but my grilled cheese & fries weren't hot. I had no complaint about the food. It was okay. It was not greasy and it was hot. With the new kiosk ordering system there really is no service. Yet the kiosk still ask if you want to leave a tip. The ambiance was traditional Steak and Shake. There were three employees working that I could see. The first guy was quite dapper dressed traditionally with a bow tie. One lady was in jeans and Street clothes. The third guy was in slacks and a filthy shirt. I was surprised to see his clothes. Will I return, yes. I've had good experiences and not so good experiences at Steak 'n Shake in Wentzville. There's been multiple times where I've had to wait 25 minutes in the drive-thru and dealt with not so friendly workers. I get the food industry, especially fast food. I understand because I worked in the industry for almost 4 years. I know how frustrating and stressful if can be, however no matter what I was always nice and friendly to my customers. There's been times where I've waited inside, one in particular reason, where my boyfriend and I will be waiting 10 minutes to be seated. I understand it's incredibly busy and they're very short staffed, but please at least acknowledge us sooner. This recent time wasn't as bad. The host did make us aware was that they were short staffed and only one server on the floor (it was dinner time and busy.) We did have to wait awhile to have our order taken, but it happens, especially when a place is short staffed. The only thing that saves this review is the food. I've never had a bad experience with the food here, my food is always fresh and full of flavor. I normally like to order the Fresco Melt, but this time I ordered a 4$ meal that was a burger, fries, another side (I picked chili) and a cookie. What a deal!! And definitely tastes good for 4$. I still give this place a chance as it's the only closest Steak n Shake location to me. read more

Me and my buddies come to this steaksnshake multiple times each week to hang out and get food together. I've noticed that the receipts have a survey for a free shake. Every time I go me and my buddies each fill out the coupon and get free shakes. However this time we went and we ordered our shakes to go and the young lady working came out to us and we were the only one is the restaurant and told us that she wasn't going to make our shakes because we didn't "pay for them". Of course we didn't pay for them we used the reward from the survey. She threatened to kick us out unless we went to pay for the shakes that were supposed to be free from the survey. I would understand not making them if the place was packed but we were the only ones there so she had nothing better to do. I was very disappointed and I don't plan on going back unless I get compensation for the shakes I don't get or something changes in the management there.
