Probably the worst service I have ever encountered in my entire life. Absolutely horrible. Workers are lazy and rude.

Sadly we ordered 2 number 1 combos large with Coke, and a Steak burger....our fries were still FROZEN when we finally got them, this was after several minutes of trying to place the order because the delivery semitrailer truck was stuck in low grinding gears and honking the whole time. Early morning appointment so we stopped at Steak and Shake for pancakes, and they have a full menu of eggs and biscuits and gravy, etc. The only problem is the restrooms were unacceptable by any standards. Did not even want to wash my hands afterward??? This should have been cleaned up the night before, don't they clean up before closing? etc? well I would have given them 5 stars if not for that issue. read more

I hadn't been to a Steak'n Shake in years. I was out of town and it was the only place open that late. I was kind of bummed out that I had to eat there, but it ended up being good food. I got the portobello and Swiss burger with a salted pretzel & caramel jr. sized shake. The service and the food were both good. There was a huge group of high school kids there, the waitress looked frazzled. I left a $10 tip (that was more than my bill, but I was afraid the kids wouldn't tip her well, so I hope my tip helped her a bit.) I will definitely go there again. read more

I have been here a few times and despite a few quirks I want to rate this 5 stars because the customer service makes up for the few quirks I have encountered. I have been lucky enough to have a girl named Kaylynn (the spelling could be off) and a guy named Malik that I must give props to. Food service is a hard industry to work in but you guys both do it with a smile. Keep up the good work, you guys make coming to steak and shake worth it. Shakes are great that's mostly all I ever come for, the employees are a little to friendly with each other always chatting about with one another while 1 or 2 employees are busting there behinds. The place is always dirty and sticky. The kitchen is never swept ever the trash cans are over flowing. It's officially a lost cause. I remember when it first opened and we were all SO excited to have one in our area. Unfortunately it's always been bad no matter how many chances I give this poorly managed, immaturely staffed establishment. What bothers me more than the lack of urgency with this place is the complete lack of pride in their job. Fries are ALWAYS either cold or so over cooked that they've become potatoe chips. Preparation is beyond sloppy. We waited 51 minutes from start to finish for a drive thru order and none of us got shakes. Don't be surprised when they go out of business because the writing is on the wall. Especially with the Penn Station and Chipotle going in across the street. Five Guys might be twice the price but it's a stones throw away and always fresh, fast and they employ people who give a damn. read more

Okay. I'm really done with this place. The service is terrible. I ordered my usual chili 5 way and when I got it, it was the smallest portion I'd ever seen. I've been getting that on a frequent basis for the past 10 years and it has been double the size. I mentioned it to the waitress, and she said that the size it's supposed to be. Also, We ordered our food right away, when the waitress asked for our drinks, hoping to get it quicker. It took even longer than I've ever expected. Worst experience I have ever had there just now. I actually walked out with SOME of our food on the table. I have not paid at least something for a meal in a long time. To start the shake machine was down for cleaning. Seriously, your name is steak 'n SHAKE. Why would you clean the machine at 1:00 on a Sunday afternoon? They didn't even tell us until 10 minutes after we ordered. To boot, we were sat by the door and they were not letting people know until after they were sat and tried to order shakes. Second, they sat us without crayons for my son. Even after asking, still no crayons. When the waitress showed up with part of our order we had to ask for our silverware and an order of fries. She gave us the just a second like she didn't have enough hands to carry everything, but guess what... no fries up. That tells me she forgot to put them in, and still no silverware. She started cleaning off another table. Bottom line, we went to Olga's. Left our food sitting on the table, still waiting to be accompanied by silverware and fries. read more

Our family has been to this restaurant many times over the years since it opened. We visited this restaurant on April 26th. We waited about 20 minutes to get a server. After taking our order it took another 25 minutes to get our food order. A few minutes after getting our order, we noticed an Explorer parked by the window playing loud music. Then another car, black KIA parked by them and 8 young adults piled out from both cars and they started dancing, very poorly and drinking alcohol from an open bottle. We asked the manager to ask them to leave. We were told that the manager couldn't call the police or take any action. Friends of the manager??? We called the police who arrived within 3-4 minutes and the cars must have been alerted because they left. The reason this business closed was not the Franchise or the food. It is obviously from poor management. Signs on the front doors say a new Franchise owner is being sought. To be successful they will need better management. read more

Absolutely the worst service I've ever had. It took the waitress ten minutes to seat us and another twenty to even take our drink order. One of the waitresses was hiding in the back eating a cookie and not helping at all, and when we finally got our food, our waitress brought our check with it and did not check on us even once. I used to love this location, but the past few times I've went the food has been terrible. Stale/burnt buns, not making my burger correctly (I get the garlic double every time), horrible service, and it's usually kinda dirty in there honestly.. I was in the drive through last night & the young girl taking my order interrupted me 3 times as I was trying to order, and once I got my food my fries were waayyyy undercooked (actually still cold) and my Dr Pepper was flat.. Just went through the drive-thru tonight. Seemed like no one was working. Waited about 5 minutes at the microphone waiting to be greeted. Finally gave up, decided to drive around to see if there was anyone actually working (parking lot was practically empty) when we went around again to the window, we were finally 'greeted' by a monotone, almost impatient sounding voice, we ordered, pulled around, waiting another 5 minutes we were given a total at the window, then our food. Oh, and by the way, the order wasn't even correct. Totally messed up my girlfriends burgers. Usually the food is good here, but the service is terrible (especially the super fake waitress we always seem to get) and the shakes come to our table right when we're about to be done eating.. which kind of defeats the purpose. I think what bothers me the most about the terrible experience we had tonight is that the gentleman that took our order EVEN asked us to repeat my girlfriend's order.. and they still messed it up! I totally would understand if he had misheard me and fixed it at the window, but he heard me correctly and still screwed it up. It almost looked like he tried scraping the cheese off her burger instead of making a whole new one (which he should have, had she been allergic to dairy or what have you.) Totally unimpressed. The food is pretty good and the prices are great, however, everytime I visit this location the service is terrible. I visited yesterday for lunch with my husband, our 15 month old daughter, and my parents. Once we were seated it took our waitress 15 minutes before she even came to offer us drinks. The entire time we were there that was how it went. The waitress was friendly and kept apologizing but the service was still extremely slow.
