If you're in Santa Fe and not ordering the tamale plate at Tres Colores, you're doing it wrong…read more This dish is the definition of New Mexico done right--two perfectly steamed tamales, one smothered in rich red chile and the other in savory green chile. The red has that deep, earthy flavor with just the right kick, while the green brings a brighter, roasted heat that balances everything out. Together? That classic "Christmas style" combo that hits on every level. The masa was soft and flavorful (not dry like you get at some places), and the filling was generous and well-seasoned. The sides sealed the deal--fluffy Spanish rice, hearty beans, and a fresh, crisp salad that cut through the richness perfectly. Portion size was solid, presentation was clean, and everything tasted like it was made with care--not rushed, not watered down for tourists. Service was quick, friendly, and exactly what you want when you're trying to keep a night moving. Authentic, satisfying, and exactly what you hope for when you come to Santa Fe. I'd order this again without hesitation!!!

We thought we might have got the closing time mixed up so once we found a parking spot, I went over to ask. They said they were moving all of the tables so that they could clean the concrete pathway. We asked if it was OK we sat outside still with our dog and they said that was fine. They moved us to the other side of the pillar which we originally didn't mind but then quickly realized there's no lighting there. So we were eating dinner in a very dim lit area. After reading the reviews, we were excited to try the fish tacos, tamales, and fresh chips and salsa. Unfortunately, none of these really were superstar standouts for us. The blackened fish didn't have a ton of flavor. I found myself searching for a salsa that had a little bit of salt and flavor to spruce up the fish taco. I ate one of the three and my husband ate the remaining. The tamales tasted fresh and the ratio of protein to masa was great. We ate the tamale mostly without the mole sauce, which we didn't really care for. The salsa and chips that came out as an appetizer were fine. The salsas were different and flavorful. I wish that when they dropped off the different salsas (which they do on a rotation) they would have explained what each one was.

Turns out this place showed up on one of the food tv shows and the chef won a James beard award. That's intriguing. The place is nice inside, fairly big, and also has a shop selling spices, cookbooks, and items from Africa. The only weird thing is that the cushions on the booth we were in sunk kind of low which left us at a weird height to the table. There were plenty of vegetarian options, many of which were vegan. And an assortment of more traditional meats that you'd find in the Caribbean style of cooking. We got a tofu curry which was pretty nice. Just a hint of spice but tons of flavor. We had the jerk tofu sandwich (a little spicy) and the hummus sandwich which were served with a mix of lemon and cumin fries. We had one member of the dining group that got jerk chicken, which she loved (but I didn't try). I was glad we stopped in.

You should never in life need a knife for oxtails, but the knife was warranted because we indeed did. What meat there was, was tough and entirely lacking in flavor, to include the gravy they swam in - which had the barest HINT of spice. Another reviewer got it right when they said it's generous to claim the dish is accompanied by a side of collards. There was a sprinkling of chopped, nearly raw collards and a chunk of mofongo. Perhaps the food is better when the chef is actually in the kitchen, but he definitely wasn't back there on this day. My husband's Coke was flat and the Jamaican hibiscus tea was mouth puckering. The ambiance was nice - loved the bazaar - and the staff friendly, but unfortunately that's the best that can be said.

Another pretty great find…read more.. An unforgettable dining experience at Sazón in Santa Fe with the legendary Chef Fernando Olea, a James Beard Award winner. Meeting the chef made the evening even more special! We enjoyed the incredible Pulpo, the famous Sopa de Amor, crispy Pork Belly, the unforgettable Enmolado de Pato (Muscovy duck with sweet potatoes and Chef Olea's signature mole), and ended with the iconic Dulce Sinfonía dessert. Every dish was a masterpiece of flavor, artistry, and passion. If you're visiting Santa Fe, Sazón belongs at the top of your list. Wonderful Ambiance! Must be dressed at least business casual. #SazonSantaFe #ChefFernandoOlea #SantaFe #JamesBeard #FineDining #Foodie #PrettyGreatFinds

The decor gives off Mexico and New Mexico vibes…read more The moles are definitely the star of the show, It would be nice if they could be bottled up to be taken home, which apparently they did at one point in time. The service was good after we got settled in, our waiter was attentive and the chef stopped by several time to check-in on us. My husband loved the pork dishes he tried, including the pork belly and the pork with your choice of mole. I agree that they did a nice job with the pork. The Azteca (yellow fin tuna crudite) was tasty, but a bit saucy and a little too salty. The Soup de Amor is a must get! And if you are a fan of tequila, they do flights with sangrita. I read a review that this place would benefit from having a set tasting menu, and I am in agreement. But for now the option is to share multiple dishes if there is a larger group.
