Craft Donuts now have few locations. The one that I stopped at was in a large parking lot with other food trucks. The other donut site is in a brick and mortar location. Will have to check it out later. This one is a donut truck serving strong black coffee to lattes. The donuts are all roughly same size ranging from chocolate with custard cream to ones with rainbow sprinkles and basic cake donuts. These are the best baked (fried?) goods that I've had in New Mexico! The donuts are made fresh so they're warm and have this amazing delicate crunch to the outside when you bite into them. They're cake donuts so they're also fluffy on the inside with a nice crumb, rather than airy. So good! I liked the vanilla glaze and cinnamon sugar--the glaze does make it a little less crispy more quickly but there's an ample amount poured on (get napkins! The glaze makes a messy donut in the most delicious way). I think the cake itself is probably tasty enough that a plain donut would be good as well, even without any added sugar. They're reasonably priced at $1.90-$2.40 each, depending on whether you get a classic donut or one of their specialty ones. These are so good that I've run several miles to them as a midday treat for myself! I only wish their hours ran longer and they were closer to me--one of these donuts makes a perfect dessert. They're not huge, like a yeasted donut, but the size is perfect for a snack :) read more

Craft Donuts offers handmade donuts, made to order, and if you're not sure what I mean by 'made to order' I mean they actually fry up your donuts after you order them. What does that mean? It means that you get a donut experience that will blow away almost every other donut you've ever had (think: Krispy Kreme when the light is on). The husband and wife team started this concept six years ago with a donut truck (which they still operate), and they have had a brick and mortar shop for the last two years. This is donut artistry at its best. Please keep in mind tho, it's only cake donuts that they make, no crullers or maple bars here, but with their variety of toppings and the pure delight of melt in your mouth fresh cake donuts, these guys are hard to beat. They sell cake style donuts, which is usually not my preference, but I'm so glad I tried one. I ordered a strawberry donut, and it was delicious! The outside of the dough was nicely crisped from the fryer, and the inside was warm and doughy. The iced americano I ordered with it was a perfect pairing on a hot summer day. as good as cake donuts get, honestly. i'm not even a huge, huge fan of cake donuts; i usually go for yeasted. but these absolutely blew me away, and were piping hot and fresh. my favorite donut is boston creme/bavarian cream, so i knew i had to get that one. it was delicious and adorable. the chocolate was a little too sweet for me, but loved it all the same with the americano i ordered. a good coffee donut, for sure. their coffee wasn't bad given that a lot of the brew i had in santa fe was way too dark for me. this was standard and held up well, but not too over roasted. the other donut i tried was a may seasonal (glad i got there the last day of the month to try this one). it tasted like spring alrighty -- orange almond with dried raspberry sprinkled on top. so so good. would definitely recommend this spot, and i was lucky enough to be staying just a half a block down the street. the service was also extra friendly, thanks y'all! keep it up! read more

I liked being able to order online and they were ready when I arrived. Their donuts are made to order and served warm. Some were a little bit more greasy than others, but I still thought they were all delicious. My son is a donut connoisseur so when we travel, we like to check out the local donut shop. We set out from our hotel and walked to Craft, thinking it would be a storefront. It is not! They have a permanent set-up with a truck in sort of a food truck garden which was neat. We ordered an assortment of donuts: glazed, cookies and cream, strawberry and others. It seems all the donuts start out as plain, and they they coat them in the fresh glaze and toppings. It made for a sticky, yet delicious, eat. The donuts themselves were fluffy and crisp, fried without being heavy. My son thought they were a little too messy, but I can handle some frosting on my fingers. Best donut I ever had, period. I've never been anywhere that made a donut to order. Normally when you order a donut it's merely a luck of a draw as to how recently it's been out of the fryer. If you are lucky some small places will answer honestly which one is the freshest and give you that one, but I always thought that was as good as it gets. This place will make a donut fresh to order. Plus they have 15 flavors to choose from. I highly recommend the fall seasonal flavors. So far I've tried apple cider, spiced nutella, and brown butter pecan. Stopped by last Monday morning on my way to an appointment and desperate for a cup of coffee. I was curious about the doughnuts (literally every person was ordering them) so ordered the plain cake. My order came up very quickly. The coffee was great and WOW! The doughnut was hot... not tepid, warm.. but hot! Made for me! Surprised doesn't begin to cover it. The I took a bite; holy smokes!!! Crispy on the outside, fluffy and light on the inside with a lovely flavor. I have never had a doughnut like this! Took a friend back a few days later. She's lived here 15 years and had never been... honestly, I'm not sure that finding this place was a good thing (for my waistline) but you can bet I will be back!! Super easy to get to. Just so anyone reads this is aware, first reviewer "D" is a serial one-star reviewer. S/he can't even put a real name to the negativity s/he's spouting. And they say New Yorkers are mean *eyeroll*. Apparently D doesn't have the compassion, experience, or basic understanding that there will always be kinks when a new business opens, especially for a (literal) mom and pop shop, and I'd venture to say this is their first. So yes, you will have to wait because they are literally making your donuts fresh from your order. Oh you want stale, ready-made donuts? Go find a soulless franchise to match your person. And, as logic goes, because they are making your order fresh, if you choose to have a heart and happy for a local mom and pop shop, you will be happy for them when they're busy doing their best to churn out orders rather than it all be about "mememe", D. Alright. I'm done with mentioning the useless reviewer. On to Craft. I'm disappointed that Yelp chose to remove "C"'s review as not helpful, when that was the first review that piqued my interest. I drove by craft a few times, but donuts are sacred to me, and I have been burned (not literally) from donuts from trucks before. But C mentioned the donuts were made fresh to order, generous toppings, the use of palm oil so it leaves no oil taste in your mouth, their coffee beans are from Red Roasters Coffee, and I'd you have a big order, it's best to call ahead. All rather helpful, I'd say. So my first time there was VDay and they had a special VDay donut (strawberry glazed, with a chocolate covered strawberry on top). Since they had a special donut and it was a special day, and it was out first time, we got the VDay donut and a plain cake. My order came right after a lady who ordered a box of a dozen of their specials, and the guy said he'll try to squeeze my order in between the big orders they were getting. Incredibly sweet, but there was no need. Us smaller orders were hanging around waiting while they kindly asked the big orders for a name and number so they can call them when they're ready. Seriously, call ahead. But they confused my order and I didn't get mine until after the big order (again, I didn't mind, I understand first come first serve), so I waited. But i had fun hanging back and watching them work. The small space doesn't help them, but they clearly put a lot of care and heart into decorating their donuts. And honestly, that S'mores one looks to die for. Their kids even came by (with the kids' grandpa) and they even had to tell them they were too busy to have a visit with them! When Gary realized his mistake of "keeping me waiting" (again, not, because the lady in front of me got her order first as it should be), he slipped me a few extra plains, which the picky eater and I were super thankful for because... OHMAGAH! It was delicious! And light! It's not quite a cake donut and not quite a yeast donut. The strawberry glazed wasn't overpoweringly sweet and it's true there's none of that heavy oil taste that you'd typically associate with a donut and it was such a fun little treat. Little because it's too easy to just inhale the whole thing. Not much can beat freshly made donuts. So this morning, I called ahead to order 2 dozen donuts to bring to the office. He took my name and time I'd be by. As we pulled in, he was putting the finishing touches on them. Amazing. Why four? Because can I really call it a donut? I don't know! I love cake donuts and I feel like it's not quite...there. They serve Red Rock Roasters coffee and have a full espresso bar menu. Expect to wait a few minutes for your order- I waited about 13 minutes and it was BEYOND worth it. I mean, the quality is unbelievable and perfection takes time. The funnel cake donut is my favorite but the sugared classic donuts are just delicious- simple, warm, crunchy outside, and oh-so-sweet. The donuts I have had were either too sweet, loaded with toppings but the donut was dry, or just slightly above average.
