Warning others with young children, but hopefully my experience was an anomaly. I made a reservation a few days in advance but when we got there we were told that we had to wait a few minutes. We wound up waiting 28 minutes past our time to be seated. We did ask about it and I didn't find the response to be helpful, however, I liked the younger hostess so I will leave it at that. She shouldn't get in trouble as my issues are with how reservations are managed (or not managed). While I was just happy to be seated, the rest of our party grew restless and it apparently took 55 minutes from the time we entered to place our order. Having a one year old with us, this made it extremely difficult. It was very busy, however, it would've been nice to have the breadsticks and salad earlier to keep the kids happy. It was over an hour since we entered the restaurant before we could give them anything. We were able to leave after 2.5 hours, which was just very long with small children. No one in a position of power seemed to care about all the hiccups. No one apologized for anything being late or that we had to wait so long with a reservation. The food was good, but honestly, Olive Garden tasted better. Finally, they tack on a 3% additional charge to us for using our credit card. It wasn't mentioned, just tacked on at the end. I know smaller businesses sometimes can't absorb that cost, but they have always mentioned it in the past. I found that in poor taste. Just had our anniversary dinner at Fratelli's and the food was simply amazing! My husband was able to make his own pasta dish with vodka sauce, mushrooms, asparagus and sausage and I had the chicken Chesapeake with this wonderful lemon sauce and mashed potatoes. What a great anniversary dinner. I'm living in a Hallmark Movie! After living in California and Texas, I moved back to Maryland after 54 years, and married my High School and College Sweetheart. We wanted to celebrate our First Anniversary. We chose Fratelli's in Hampstead, having eaten at the one in Middletown a year ago. It was fantastic. Our Server, Colter, was engaging and perfect in his attentiveness. My wife had the Lobster Ravioli with Vodka Sauce. Prepared with lump crab and shrimp on top. Delightful in every aspect. I had the Veal Parmigiana prepared in the traditional design with a generous side of Spaghetti Marinara. I ate every morsel. As a surprise, Colbert brought out a slice of Chocolate Spoon Cake. So rich that we hated leaving a few bites on the plate, (it was decadent). We had a full carafe of the House Merlot, and it was excellent. We were shocked at the total bill, and double checked to make sure they hadn't missed anything. We've spent more on lunch! I hope that you have as great an experience as we had last Saturday at a 4:30 seating. You're in for a treat. May I suggest that you make reservations for as early as possible. Wonderful meal! This was my first time at this restaurant and I can definitely tell you it won't be my last. Great food, wonderful service, and not too loud. I could certainly hear my date and we didn't have to talk too loudly. If you come here definitely make a reservation because otherwise you're going to wait a while, and even with a reservation we still had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. The portions are really big here. The calamari appetizer was huge and could have fed 4-6 people. I ask our server for her thoughts on three dishes and on her recommendation got the Seafood Fra Diablo. It had a little kick to it but it was very good and huge! It didn't even seem like I had made a dent in it and took so much home I had two meals. The salad and breadsticks were also delicious. I didn't know about the salad or else I might not have ordered the calamari. Way too full for dessert, though the cakes and pies in the case in the back looked delicious. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend you to take a trip out here as well to enjoy such delicious food and drink. read more

In sleepy Hampstead, an Italian restaurant is a formidable contender for serving the best crab cake in the Baltimore area. That's really saying something, as I consider myself a crab cake connoisseur. Large crab cake broiled to perfection with no discernable filler. Super fresh with just a hint of seasoning so the crab flavor really shines through. Once you see it and eat it, the $35 (with perfectly roasted potatoes and several spears of asparagas) will seem almost a bargain. The menu otherwise has a large and versatile array of Italian and other favorites, prepared with care bordering on perfection. Service is superb and prices fair for what you get. Our lunch for two (my wife had the chicken piccata), came with a large, tasty sald bowl to share and butter-coated warm rolls to die for (arguable iterally if one would give in to temptation). Crab cake platter, chicken piccata platter, with the salad and rolls, and tweo soft drinks, set us back $74 with taxes and tip. Dropped in last Friday evening at the recommendation of a friend. This is located in a strip mall but was pleasantly surprised when we went in. Host asked if we had a reservation, so we sat at the bar. The atmosphere felt like this was the local spot, everyone was friendly and the staff seemed to now the clientele. The service was very good. I always order the carbonara here even though it's not on the menu but is a special often. It's always been authentic carbonara but this time I saw they added a spaghetti carbonara dish to the menu described as "an Alfredo sauce" which is not traditional carbonara sauce. The dish they delivered was apparently the spaghetti carbonara dish on the menu with the Alfredo sauce but threw in some chicken and took out the peas. This place gets busy! If you are going to try do yourself a favor and make a reservation. They give you a house salad and breadsticks for the table. Both very good. The portion sizes are enormous. This is definitely a place you can share an entire. The staff is attentive, very knowledgeable regarding the menu, and pleasant. Why the 3stars? I dunno, the food is just ok. Not bad, not great, just ok. Nothing stood out. The crab cake was mostly back fin and just disappointing. They sangria was way too sweet and no fruit to be seen. Would we go again? Beware! The food is a couple steps up from Olive Garden and the service is hit and miss. Management are probably the most incompetent people we've ever experienced. Set the scene: see the post attached about their lunch Monday through Saturday, call to reserve lunch for Saturday, show up for lunch on Saturday to be told, "We don't serve lunch on Saturdays." Showed the hostess, whom was extremely rude, the website and was told it wasn't up to date. Requested a manager to be sent to the table. She had to be the most incompetent and unaccommodating person I have come across. No explanation as to why someone making a lunch reservation wouldn't be informed lunch would not be served. She insisted lunch had not been served on Saturdays for quite some time even though it was still listed on the website and a post was recently made on Facebook. All this being said, our server Joe was outstanding. He was on top of everything!! Replace everyone with people like him and this place me be worth giving another shot. read more
