Had a couple young guys walking the neighborhood asking residents if they needed new windows. I had…read moremost of mine replaced recently, but my living room still had its original windows from 30 years ago. The two guys offered to have someone come out and give us a quote. I thought it would be too small of a job, after all, it was just 3 windows, plus 3 panes of glass above that, and a half circle above that. So I agreed to meet with their rep the following week. Illinois Energy Windows & Siding is one of those companies that insists on both spouses attend the initial meeting. So a nice young man came the following week, measured our windows and sat down with his laptop. I showed him what windows I had replaced less than 5 months ago. He said he needed 30 minutes of our time. After 90 minutes, he still was not done. Sensing our impatience growing, he showed us his quote. Over $29,000 for one room. I told him I had a quote from the company that recently i stalled our other windows. He agreed they were good windows. He pressed a few keys on his laptop, and poof, the price is now $21,000. I told him my quote from the other company was $7,700, and poof, the new price is $19,000. See where I'm going with this? I'm sure this company makes quality windows and I'm sure the installation is fine, and I'm confident they offer a good warranty, but the way the price moved was a clear red flag to stay away from this company.

I've spent several years dealing with this company, and at this point it's clear the customer…read moreservice, communication, and craftsmanship are all unacceptable. I paid 10K for a front door, and the trim paint has been cracking and peeling since day one. Every "repair" has been a joke. The paint never matches, and Mark--the person they keep sending--doesn't bother to mention anything or communicate. I come home to sloppy, half‑done work that looks like a landlord special. One visit, he didn't even finish caulking the base of the door. When I asked him about it later, he said, "I ran out of caulk." That's not an excuse. That's negligence. And instead of fixing it properly, he left it for me to discover and then forced me to call again to get the job completed. It got so bad last year that I demanded the brick molding be replaced because Mark had sanded off the detailing and smeared caulk everywhere trying to cover it up. Only then did the operations manager suddenly show up--unannounced. When he finally called to schedule a real meeting, he made it worse. He told me he'd replace the trim but was "too afraid" to do the work because I'm "so picky" and would "find something else to complain about." Then he actually told me I should be happy because "the door looks good from the road." Instead of owning their mistakes, he tried to make me the problem. Today I opened yet another ticket because the paint is peeling again--on areas they've already "repaired" multiple times. Same pattern: no communication, no follow‑up, and someone shows up to slap on more mismatched paint that doesn't fix anything. This company has repeatedly shown they can't deliver quality work, can't communicate, and can't take responsibility for their own poor craftsmanship.

Derrick helped me navigate a very challenging situation to rebuild the entire back wall of my home and attached deck due to water damage. Scope: New insulation, plywood sheathing, composite siding, soffit, and fascia for back wall. Replaced rim joist, headers, and other structural wood as needed from water damage. Re-installed windows and sliding glass door incorrectly installed by previous contractor. Rebuilt pressure treated wood deck with improved layout. Derrick's attention to detail and pride in his work translated to a solution that addressed all of my goals and helped me understand mistakes made by previous contractors. He spent hours reviewing options and brainstorming with me as more damage was uncovered and the scope had to expand as we went. Overall, could not be happier with my experience and would highly recommend.

I needed a contractor that will get the job done right and Im so glad that I hired Pulse. Derrick came out and measured the deck in minutes, provided samples and suggestions. I knew composite was the way to go so I don't have to worry about maintenance. Within an hour we had a plan. I had a hard time narrowing down colors but helped by offering his suggestions. The colors I picked were some newer options Trex released and Derrick said he was excited to see how it turns out. Derrick and Luke came out and when I watched them work I was highly impressed. They worked like machines; measuring and communicating like a good team should. Luke is clearly a highly skilled carpenter. I had an idea for angled steps and even though it's a bit complicated he took on the project and built some really cool stairs that make my deck unique. Their attention to detail really showed and they kept me informed of their progress through an app with daily updates in what was complete. Communication was top notch and thats important to me. Pulse wasn't the cheapest company, but the value was great. You get what you pay for and Im glad that I finally have a beautiful deck to enjoy. I only wish the rest of my house was as nice as it puts the rest of it to shame. If you're looking for a job done right call Pulse.

Here's how they stood out: They had excellent communication. From Angelo's estimate all the way to passing inspection, they were on top of their game. The estimate had every combination of options listed with exactly what they were going to do and photos of the planned work. We were assigned a field supervisor (Justin, I believe?) who would come out on the same day to inspect any issues we brought up. Our contact with the office via Cindy and Anthony was also superb and always timely. The work was done swiftly and well. The roofers were done before I got back from work. Siding and gutters are more involved, but they did excellent there as well and Roman et al. were excellent to work with, took feedback very well (see communication above), and were very hard and efficient workers. All in all, we were done with our project long before other houses in the same subdivision who had all signed up with doorknocker companies, and they delivered a high level of quality. To be clear, their estimate was slightly higher (my gut says 10% higher, but it's been a while since I reviewed the proposals) than some other offers we received, but for the work that we were doing, level of customization, and communication, we wouldn't make a different choice. Absolutely a pleasure to work with. Thank you, Siding and Windows Group!

I'm usually not one to spend time getting a bunch of quotes and just rely on Yelp reviews to make a purchasing decision, but this was pricey enough purchase that i figured I should do my due diligence.' Siding & Windows Group was one of the 4 companies I had come out for a quote. We ended up with them for a few reasons: - Their quote was competitive - They were able to spray paint the interior trim with our existing paint color - They were able to match the exterior trim as closely as possible to our windows outside - Anthony at Siding & Windows Group was very responsive We placed the order on August 22nd, which is my bday. I can't say new doors was what i wanted for my bday, but i guess this is being a homeowner in your 40s. The new doors weren't installed until November 6th and we just hoped for no big storms and got lucky. Anthony checked in a few times on when they'd be installed and pushed it back a few days due to other projects. The actual installation took about a day, which wasn't too bad. A week later they came to spray paint, which honestly seemed like a much bigger project than installing the doors. That took 2 days and went smoothly, although there was a little confusion about them not knowing what color to paint, etc. It turned out beautifully and while the doors look very similar to our old doors I like the look of these even better. The exterior finish isn't a perfect match, but i think a big part of that is our old paint on our windows as faded. One day we'll touch it all up, but for now we're looking forward to a break in paying for anything for the house. I learned there are a lot of companies in the area for new windows/doors, but we were satisfied with this one and would use them again.
