Washington the views are perfect before or after breakfast, and even late night, which is something new the owner and another server, Tyler, are bringing in. The chef was so great. This place had such a cute vibe--cozy and welcoming. We all loved the wall decor and really needed that kind of atmosphere. Thank you for such an amazing breakfast everything was perfect. The kids took pancakes home, and even a day later they were still so good. 20/5 for this place! Give it a go, or definitely recommend it to a friend in town. Take the incline and stop here! Lots of parking! Bonus

I frequently go to places on the same block and somehow never realized this was here. It is a charming little family diner, with one sister serving and another cooking when we were here today. Truly the definition of a family run business. My friend had a classic breakfast with eggs, potatoes and toast, while I was very interested in the vegetable grilled cheese sandwich that was piled with vegetables in addition to the cheese. You just don't see that every day. They mentioned they had ordered more hoagie buns than they needed so in addition to the specials, which included a pistachio fluff homemade waffle that definitely had my attention, you were free to dream up any hoagie combination you like. So I asked for the vegetable grilled cheese on a hoagie bun and it was incredibly delicious. Paired with super crispy tater tots, it was the tastiest, low-key brunch I've had in a while. Note that they are cash only, they mention this on the door but I completely missed it and pulled out my debit card. She kindly reminded me about the policy and mentioned they have ATM in the shop, but there is also a PNC ATM across the street. I ran over there and got cash and it was all good. I will be back soon and definitely will be recommending it to friends.

This place is both. I came here on a Friday morning. The line took about 10 minutes. You have to order your food first and then find a table. I can imagine on the weekends the line may be up to 30 minutes long. I ordered a biscuit sandwich with fried chicken and eggs. All the flavors were perfect. It's your classic breakfast sandwich made perfectly. For my drink, I got the hibiscus tea and added their complementary simple syrup, fantastic. Looking at other people's meals, I could tell everything they're probably tasted amazing. I came by myself and sat at the counter. Probably made it a lot easier to find the seat. The waitresses behind the counter were super attentive and will still serve you another drink and water if need be. You could even order an additional dish without standing online again. I didn't stay long because I didn't want to idle while people were waiting for a seat but it does seem like a nice spot to have brunch and keke with Friends.

After ordering, seats were available on a first come, first served basis. I ordered a breakfast sandwich, which you could customize with two toppings. It was delicious. The biscuit was thick, fluffy, and buttery. The specially sourced cheddar cheese was subtly sharp. The mushroom and oat patty was vegetarian, but looked and tasted like meat. It was flavorful and savory. Definitely recommend giving it a try. We also got a side of their crispy potatoes, which were excellent. Loved the cinnamon sugar biscuit bites as well. They were similar to doughnut holes. My husband enjoyed their strawberry jam too.

The Speckled Egg provided the upscale and elevated breakfast, that was a nice contrast to the rustic and local breakfast we had the next day. Our waitress was friendly and professional. After some deliberation, I went with a bowl that included eggs, chicken sausage, sweet potatoes and a nice garnish of dill. The dill surprisingly elevated the whole dish. My wife enjoyed an omelette. Coffee was also quite good! Nice start to a day of sightseeing! (The restaurant staff gave great advice about the nearby tourist attractions)

He was courteous, well spoken and friendly. We sat there for about 10-12 minutes. No one approached the table. We looked over to what appeared to be a bar area and we saw two servers standing there talking and showing each other their phones. My wife said, "With our luck, one of those two is our server." Sure enough, when they were finally done talking, one came over to our table....no smile and a big audible sigh. She asked what we wanted to drink, we gave our order and she returned with our beverages. After another 10 minute wait she came back to take our order. When asked about a certain dish, came another big sigh, eye roll and and a rote description of said dish. The food arrived and one of the orders was wrong. Another wait to get her attention. We asked for the item to be redone as we had ordered it. And she even asked how we wanted it! You got it...another eye roll and a big sigh. At least she was well oxygenated! The dish came back with the very same results. On that issue we gave up. Then came the wait for the check. Once again the two servers were chatting, no heads turned to check on their tables. My son went over to get the check. When the check arrived, it was attitude city. She accused us of picking on her because she was only a server. It's obviously how she saw herself. We then asked for the manager who was quick to side with the server. She said that nothing seemed to satisfy us and that we had a problem. IN SHARP CONTRAST. I have been to the Speckled Egg on the South Side many times. From the Host/Hostess to the servers to the bus staff, everyone had a smile, chatted with their customers, laughed and it was always a great experience. The manager came over since he recognized me from being there many times and we chatted for a minute. We are talking Night and Day. Completely two different experiences from server to management styles. To me there is only one Speckled Egg and one complete waste of time (Downtown).
