Stopped here at the suggestion of my girlfriend for breakfast. The diner is fairly small, it does have takeout and there is counter as well as booth seating. Service was very good and our waitress was very attentive to our needs. She went with eggs over easy with a side of slab bacon. I decided to try the make it yourself omelette. Their omelettes are made with 4 extra large eggs and you have a choice of 3 ingredients with cheese being one of them. I ordered it with a side of home fries and rye bread. We got our food rather quickly. My omelette was huge but I am grateful I ordered it with swiss cheese which made it lighter and with mushrooms and green peppers. The home fries were not greasy and the marbled rye bread slices were generous. My girlfriend enjoyed her breakfast as well. The place wasn't crowded when we arrived nor did it get crowded during our visit. Sat mornings must be a good time to drop in. Prices are reasonable for what you would expect at this diner. After reading mixed reviews for this place, I decided to stop in and give them a try myself. I have to say that I was pretty happy overall with the food, the ingredients, the cleanliness and the service. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with spicy sausage added and it tasted great! The egg was cooked perfectly and the sausage were perfectly added! Their potatoes are nicely seasoned and tasty too. I watched the cook wash his hands before prepping each meal. Great local spot for breakfast! Definitely old school diner feel with decor, smaller dining area and open kitchen. The menu is full of all the breakfast classics, majority of them fittingly egg-based. I ordered the French Toast Breakfast Sandwich and it was delicious! I've never had or seen a meal like this before. The toast was wheat soaked in egg and butter, then a large tender sausage patty, and an omelette sized over hard egg in between. I was pleasantly suprised and impressed by the size of the sandwich. I had to use a fork and knife to eat it and it certainly filled my appetite. The best part is adding the maple syrup on top to give it a sweet and savory flavor. The price was very reasonable too for the amount of food you get. Our waiter was a bit disorganized and forgot to bring us creamer for the coffee and we had to ask for our check a few times, but it was understandably busy on the a Sunday. If you blink you will pass by this place several times. It's in a small strip of businesses with the top header on the roof saying diner. You have to actually look in the windows to find the place. It's your typical old, cruddy looking diner where the locals and bikers meet. We were greeted with a very chipper, smiling, adorable waitress who made the place light up with her spirit. I had a bowl of Pittsburgh grits with bacon and eggs while my wife had the pecan waffle. The grits had a weird taste which I came to find out it was the good ole Pittsburg water they used in the grits. I love "Mom & Pop" type places! It is a little hard to find but it's worth the sit-down. Roughly the same prices as Kelly O's and, to me, just as delicious. I had the Country Fried Steak, over-medium eggs, hashbrowns, and an English muffin, and my Fiancé had a build-it-yourself omelet. It was all delicious. We always look up DDD joints in each city we go to and since I wasn't too happy with the results, I just googled best breakfast joint in Pittsburgh and this place popped up. Loved the diner atmosphere and the service was top notch as they were on top of refills and checkbacks in a very timely manner. Portion sizes were great and the flavors were awesome and how they are not packed 24/7 is beyond me. We will definitely come back and this is highly recommended...... Honestly this place is hit or miss. But more often than not, it's a hit, hence my 4 stars. I love the banana walnut pancake. It's HUGE and loaded with bananas and walnuts. Their grits are out of this world. Service can be great (and usually is) but I've had a few hiccups in the past. Prices are a little high and most of the menu is ala carte so it adds up. We love coming here for breakfast on the weekends or if we are lucky enough to have a day off during the week. This review is an updated one from the last time. We came here on a Friday morning and there were plenty of open seats. We sat down and immediately we had a server. She brought us our drinks and we were ready to order. We ordered our usual omelette and shrimp with grits. We usually get these when we do not have a lot of time. We waited about maybe 15 minutes and our food was hot and in front of us. First off, let me say how happy I am to live so close to such a gem of a place. Eggs-R-Us is not your typical diner, but it has a unique Pittsburgh charm that is sure to have you coming back time and time again. My boyfriend's birthday was this week and we decided that part of a perfect birthday morning is a great breakfast. We decided on Eggs-R-Us without much hesitation and this time we wanted to dine in. We were seated immediately and it was right around 12PM and wasn't very busy. Our waitress gave us our coffee and took our order at the speed of light. He stayed true to his word and ordered the breakfast sandwich and I got the breakfast burrito. Burritos and breakfast foods are separately among my favorite foods, so when they are combined it's game over. The burrito came with potatoes, peppers, onions, eggs, and a ton of cheese. I opted out of adding a meat to mine and it was still almost the size of my head. Not sure anyone could finish one of these mammoth burritos in one sitting, but I gave it my best shot and still ended up with a takeout box with a full serving of burrito left. I'm not complaining by any means about it, and in fact my boyfriend ate a big portion of it, too. The light blue interior and Steelers decor may be eyesores to some, but it made me feel right at home. The staff was extremely friendly, food was great, and the price was nothing to complain about. Will never reorder from here again. Our order via Grubhub was confirmed almost instantly -I was actually shocked at how quickly. Everything went downhill from there. The driver messaged me saying even though I had ordered 45 min prior and he was on time, he was told it was going to take another 25 min bc they were busy. I tried calling the restaurant 3x. No answer. The driver then messaged me that he was canceling my order. I called Grubhub, who also tried calling the restaurant -no answer. We knew they were there though because the driver was! My husband made an omelette with spinach, mushrooms, and hot sausage. I had the breakfast burrito with hot sausage. Both entrees were huge, you could easily share a burrito or omelette with a friend. I have no complaints about the burrito, other than it's a monster size one and I could only finish half of it. The omelette overall was good, but personally we would skip the spinach next time. I visited Eggs-R-Us for Sun. brunch this past weekend. My friend and I were in this part of town to hit Antney's, but we wanted to put some real food in our stomachs before indulging in ice cream. Eggs-R-Us was the closest place I had bookmarked, so we decided to check it out. Note that it's a bit hard to find--it's right next to the liquor store in the shopping plaza. Upon walking in, most of the tables were occupied, and the ones that weren't needed to be cleared. Since nobody greeted us, we went to seat ourselves at a table that was being cleared. At that point, we were given menus and our order was taken fairly quickly. However, our order took longer than I expected to prepare (about 30 min.)--to the point that I asked the waitstaff after 20 min. if the cooks had our order. When our food finally came out, my order was incorrect. I ordered the almost famous breakfast sandwich with home fries ($5.79), but it came with hash browns, instead. I pointed this out to the waitress, and, fortunately, she quickly rectified it. The breakfast sandwich was about what I'd expect at a diner, which is fine--except that the eggs were folded unevenly so that part of the sandwich was full of them and part of it had almost none. The home fries were underseasoned and underwhelming, but the mistaken order of hash browns was much better, so be sure to get hash browns when given the choice. My friend ordered the bountiful breakfast with hash browns minus the toast ($5.99), and was satisfied with its quality. Overall, my visit to Eggs-R-Us was so-so. The food, for the most part, was fine, but I was underwhelmed by the service. In addition to the slowness of order fulfillment and the dirty tables, I had to ask another waitress to refill my water. I get that Sun. afternoon is a busy time, but getting food out in a reasonable time frame and filling waters a couple of times are basic service expectations. I wouldn't go out of my way to return, esp. given that I live in the city near the Bloomfield Sandwich Shop, which offers similar food and ambiance with *way* better service. It is a convenient stop if you need a meal before hitting Antney's, though. read more

I found myself on Noblestown Rd to get a loaf of Italian bread across the street and I decided to stop in for coffee. Being a veg, I figured I probably wouldn't be able to get anything there for nourishment. To my surprise they had egg white omelette (I do allow myself yoke free egg substitutes, fat free milk, cheeses, and yogurt) with peppers, onions and tomatoes. I ordered that with wheat toast. It was delicious, void of oils or butter, the vegetables, crisp tender, were an excellent flavor burst for the fluffy egg whites. Even better when I put a little frank's hot sauce on it. Excellent service, the waitresses where super friendly, eager to please and very nice. For the omelette, toast and coffee (bottomless cup) my bill came to 8.11, not bad at all. The burrito takes up an entire plate and is filled with all the breakfast goodies you'd imagine. It really could be split into two meals and for like $6.99 who wouldn't love to make two meals out of something? And as far as service goes I'd never had a bad experience. I know diners get a bad rap for having waitresses with rude attitude and give you bad service, but this really isn't the case.
