My son is a handsome young man... even if I say so myself... but as a young man he has developed some pretty rough acne. I too as a young man had my rough battles with acne and I remember my parents taking me to a dermatologist. It changed my high school life! So I brought my son here. Funny when I looked it up on line it had some good Google reviews. It was rated high... but not as well on Yelp. However my youngest boys middle name is Steele so it must have been a sign right? I was able to get an apt. fairly quickly... so off we went. Walking in it is all about ladies skin... keeping it young and beautiful. My son asked why we were in a ladies spa... I know that that is where the money is.... Youth in ladies skin... but this really did look more like a selling environment then a doctors office. Everything from crème's, elixirs, posters for facial treatment weight loss etc... all targeting women offering them the promise of change and youth. However when we met with our doctor it was great! She addressed the problem quickly, examined him, and determined a course of action that was not going to be hugely complicated. She gave us prescriptions for a cream, some medicated wipes, and some pills. We are attacking it on all fronts It has only been a few days and I can already see a difference! If it keeps up this way by the time we return in 6 weeks it should be a huge difference! I was so impressed with their solutions, action, and bed side manor that I made an apt here for my psoriasis as well. I prepaid Steele Dermatology for cosmetic treatments and later canceled the unused portion in writing. Despite multiple written requests, Steele Dermatology has kept more than $2,100 of my money for services never performed and has withheld my medical records for over six months. I first requested my full treatment records back in April 2025, and to this day (October 8, 2025) they have not provided them, nor have they sent the "form" they now claim is required. They have never offered a valid explanation for the delay. After receiving my written refund demand, the practice administrator called me directly, even though I had clearly and repeatedly asked for all communication to occur in writing. When I calmly restated that request, she became defensive and hostile, said she would be sending me a certified letter from their attorney, and then abruptly hung up on me. As of this review, I have not received any letter, refund, or records. I have filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights for the ongoing denial of my medical records, and I am preparing to report Steele Dermatology to the Georgia Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division for retaining funds for unused services. Patients deserve transparency, professionalism, and access to their own medical information. Unfortunately, my experience has been the complete opposite. Very unprofessional don't answer the phone at the Alpharetta location they claim you can text they don't reply to that either. I spend hours out of my day traveling there since they don't answer the phone to purchase cream when I got there the lady was rude and nasty and decided she couldn't sell me the cream because I needed a new appointment but the previous appointment was under a year ago to be honest she's very mediocre at best the cream was working but to grift people to make appointments and you basically say nothing or do nothing but tell them to buy your products is a waste of time. Lastly what unprofessional place refuses to sell products because they need to bill your insurance company a few more dollars to help their struggle business. I would never go here again also now that I'm seeing another review states she stole over 2k from a previous patient I should have checked the reviews prior not to mention they put an incorrect phone number on their business card and had me calling a stranger talking about my medical this place is a mess and they took no accountability for nothing just another grifting doctor who's quite mediocre. Had my first appointment for my hair loss. The doctor was great. She listened while I told her what my problem was. I was happy that she prescribed me shampoo and pills for my hair that I could find on Amazon. It makes it so much easier. The staff is very friendly and the doctor was very nice as well. It was beautiful inside too. Today April 2, 2018, is my second appointment. The lady at the front has always been nice. Today was the same. I'm currently sitting in the well- designed and comfortable waiting room. I only had a $20 copay I had to pay for today. The first time I came in I waited for about 15 minutes in the waiting room till I was able to see the doctor - It wasn't too long of a wait. This time it was just 10 minutes. I was in and out pretty fast. In addition to my hair loss she also prescribed medicine for my stye, which I really appreciated, even though I wasn't there for that. Over a year ago, I went to her (and had gone one time before that for my son a year before)... both times got no real medical help. This visit was a small dark reddish area on my lower leg. She acted like she didn't know what to do for it. Asked me if I wanted it tested... then left a scar where she took a cut of it and nothing was done. I saw another primary doctor a few weeks later, and he was surprised she didn't give me an antibiotic for it. He did and it got better. I am just now getting around to writing a review. There was no personalized treatment, 360 care plan, outstanding service, or expertise. I'm in my 20s, work hard for my money & feel as if Dr. Steele preys on her patients and takes advantage of people for her own skincare line's benefit. It's disappointing and sad. Maybe my hopes were too high? It's hard to find many women of color who excel in the field of dermatology. I have suffered from acne for several years - been on Accutane twice - tried many topical gels (Differin, Aczone, Duac Topical Gel, Antibiotics - the works). All of my doctors in the past have been women and extremely approachable and caring. I was very excited to check out Dr. Steele with her amazing reviews and she had a professional website. When I arrived, I was pleasantly greeted by staff and quickly moved to a room. When I met Dr. Steele, she lacked a lot of bedside manner. She didn't seem to care about my problems or acne - it felt like I was another number to see. She didn't conduct a full evaluation of my face, which was alarming. Then she misdiagnosed a cyst on my face and said I needed surgery. Yes, surgery! She also said the cyst on my face would remain until after I was off of Accutane (six months). All I came in for was for a cortisone shot. After I convinced her to give me a cortisone shot (which is a steroid shot that reducing cystic acne) - she kept mentioning it wouldn't work. Well, guess what - my face cleared up after a couple days. She created unnecessary stress and anxiety for what? My previous doctor has been amazing but lacked a lot of availability - but now I won't switch. I felt so strongly not to recommend this doctor that I'm writing this review. I hope you have a pleasant experience with Dr. Steele but as a woman of color especially - I cannot recommend her due to her bedside manner and misdiagnosing me. read more

I thought I was done being surprised by this office but after their persistent phone calls at 8am this morning I am moved to write a review. #1- DON'T freakin call someone at 8 am. Industry standards dictate 9-10am. It's not only poor etiquette, it is a glaring sign of poor management. Signs of poor staff management are always indicative of issues in the back office. Trust me, I have 20 years worth of experience to back me up. #2- STOP money-grabbing. We all, well most of us, know what our co-pay is before we get there. Few of us have enough money to not care. When we know our copay is $50 and we leave having paid you $400, YOU have done something incorrectly, particularly if your customer doesn't understand why they had to pay you extra. #3- Yep, we get it, you are youngish and catering to the affluent crowd. You are very proud of your past work on the "beautiful people". You're not exactly doing that anymore. Now you're in a strip mall, beside a dry cleaner, on a back road in Alpharetta. So now here we sit, having been awakened at 8am on a Monday so you could request yet ANOTHER copy of an insurance card that has been provided TWICE. I can only imagine what lovely billing error you've made, or how you're going to try and figure out how you can charge us yet more money for the ONE visit that occurred months ago. Believe me I have been in some famous plastic surgeon clinics, but I never got the same result .Under my eyes needed filler but other doctors made my eyes puffy or I could feel lumps and they used to tell me oh your skin is too thin. Or keep touching your skin until you don't feel the lumps. 4 years ago someone recommended doctor Steele to me and I couldn't be happier. she is expensive but she worth it. If you value having your time and money respected by a physician, don't go to Steele Dermatology. I live super close to the office and decided to give it a try. As a young professional, I don't have much free time during the work week so I booked an appointment during my lunch hour, assuming I'd be in and out. Just needed a general check up and had a few questions for recommendations on basic skincare. I'm all for communication from doctors before appointments, but in this case received no less than 8 separate texts (+ a number of emails) prior to my appointment letting me know of the $50 charge for cancellation. Fine, I thought, I wouldn't want someone wasting my time either. HA! I arrive at my appointment (let's say it's at 2pm) 10 min early to get checked in. At about 2:05pm the assistant takes me back to an exam room to ask some intro questions and then asks me to get into a gown and tells me the doctor will be in shortly. 2:50pm rolls around and I have heard nothing from the assistant OR doctor. I've already had to email my boss and cancel a meeting at this point. Finally at 2:55pm the assistant pops in and says "Dr. Steele is finishing up a surgery and will be in shortly." About an hour after my appointment time, they both come in. Dr. Steele is nice enough but no one apologizes for the HOUR wait or thanks me for my patience. The entire time with Dr. Steele was about 5 min. I ask for their recommendations for some basic skincare. She says I should get dressed and the assistant will be back in with her recs. The assistant comes back in with 2 (VERY base level) products they recommend and assure me they carry these in the office and the woman at check out can help me get some. I go to check out only to learn this intro appointment is a $100 co-pay, which already seems like a LOT, and that doesn't include the products which are ~$150 EACH! No samples, nothing. They tell me my total for this checkup is going to be ~$380 including these items. I've recently seen highly recommended versions of these serums on Amazon, Nordstrom, etc. for half the price so I only pay the copay. All of that being said, I spent almost 2 hours at this place (costing me hourly wage at my job) AND they tried to take advantage of someone they thought to be unaware of basic skincare prices. Terrible. I was charged $50 for a co-pay that should've only been $35. After asking the assistant and showing her my insurance card that says $35 for a specialist she said I was incorrect. I was prescribed a medication and I was told if cost would be an issue I can call back and get an alternative. They only want $$ because the alternatives ranged from $20-30 vs the $600 I was originally prescribed. 4 times calling, once leaving a message, and over 72 hours later I have still not received a call back. dr. chynna steele is all about the money!! i ignored thr negative reviews and tried her anyway. during the consultation she looked closely at my face and confidently recommended the $375 mini melanage peel!!! i questioned her because of the cost, but she assured me it would work and i would get the results i wanted! after an out-of-pocket cost of $612.00, two follow up visits, and (before and after photos which show no change), i asked to be reimbursed and was told, no. i'm hoping i can help people from this horrible experience. my face looks the exact same $612.00 later. i purchased/used all the products she recommended! why should i pay for products/treatment that didn't do what she promised?!?!? i will definitely go back to my dermatologist who is far away, but at least she's all about skincare and not money!!! read more

I've gone to numerous dermatologists and have spent thousands over the years for cosmetic procedures that didn't have lasting results. Spent even more on products. I saw an Essence ad on Facebook for Dr. Steele highlighting acne scarring treatments. I'm always skeptical about what can actually be done as my case is considered severe. But I made an appointment and was pleased with Dr. Steele's knowledge of new and modern techniques for acne scars. The treatment I'm under today has given me the best non-surgical results I've ever had. The wait time was short; I've never waited more than 10 minutes. The office is very sleek, clean and bright. The front desk staff is always very pleasant and accommodating as are the nurse staff. Dr. Steele herself is very personable, funny and knowledgeable. We tried a technique initially but then quickly tried another that worked better. She didn't settle on "just ok" results. She's great about answering all my questions and gave me additional information when asked. The products I've purchased from them actually work and last quite a long time. I am so happy I've FINALLY found a dermatologist that's been able to truly help me. read more

I'm gonna start off by saying I sincerely DO NOT recommend this dermatologist! Dr. Steele recommended a biopsy saying that this would be the only way to know exactly what this rash is. After I'm left with a scar on my knee she still wasn't able to tell me what it was. She said it was some kind of allergic reaction but not sure of the type. She prescribed me a medicine to try out for 1 month and see what happens. Dr. Steele knew that I was exclusively breastfeeding my 4 month old son, but to doubly confirm, I asked the pharmacist if this would be ok to take while breastfeeding and she told me that it will dry me out (lower my milk supply if not completely stopping it). At that point I lost trust in Dr. Steel, so I didn't take the medicine. Several months later the Dr.'s office calls me and tells me that they don't accept my insurance plan any more and that I owe $400. I told them that the only reason I went to them is because they told me they accept my plan (I had met my insurance deductible when I gave birth to my son so I wouldn't have to pay anything out of pocket). I have called the office and explained to them that at the time of the visit, they did accept my plan and I was told that I wouldn't have to pay anything. They couldn't help me and just said that if I didn't pay, it would be reported to collections. This was truly a horrible experience in every way possible. read more

Went to her two times. Wait times are not bad, service is OK. What I find unacceptable is that the doctor lied about the cost of procedure. We specifically asked the cost of procedure, and she said that its included in the $50 copay. But then later they charged us an additional $192 for two 2 minute procedures. I booked my appointment with the girl at the front desk days later I called back because they wanted me to confirm my appointment so it was an aesthetician that answered this time. She says ok your confirming your appointment and you need to pay a $50 deposit that will go towards any service. I said well my appointment is suppose to be a service she tells me oh no this is just a consultation. I'm like umm ok whatever so I pay it online my balance is $0. I come in for my appointment Dr. Steele comes in barely looking at me tells her assistants what products I need so I'm like ok I just wanted a facial. So she recommend her products she says use them for 8 weeks and come back and see me. I get to the front and the lady tell me $350 !!!! I'm like WTF excuse me so I get it because I want my skin to be great. I'm pissed at this point because I did not expect to pay anything that day but her recommending a facial. I get home and open up my products the lady gives me a sample serum that has been used!!! I was pissed like are you kidding me. I call like hey I just just spent $350 and you "mistakenly" gave me a used sample product!! So I drive back to get a new bottle smh luckily I live literally 2 mins from the Buckhead office. I wish I would have said no I'm not getting that. So my 8 weeks are almost up and honestly the products are TRASH!! I feel played. So anyway 4 days later I get a text message from the front office saying I owed an additional $90 from that appointment!! No tf I don't I told them cancel my next appointment because you are asking for additional $90 when no one said nothing as they rang me up nor did I have a balance when I paid online. She and her entire team were attentive, knowledgeable and they all took their time to make sure I had solutions and a treatment plan for everything we discussed. I received a chemical peel from Dr. Steele's office that broke my skin out in the worst acne i've ever experienced in my life. With a wedding in a few months you can imagine the emotional stress this caused. While peels may work for some, if you have sensitive skin please think twice. In addition, the 3 month routine following the bad acne breakout prescribed by Steel's office did not help my skin at all and I had to travel to visit my former dermatologist to get a routine that did. I really wanted to like this office as I try my best to support black owned businesses and have all of my life but the emotional stress I went through and the price I paid for the peel and subsequent products really disappointed me. I have a long road to recovery as far as the hyperpigmentation from the acne is concerned.
