We stayed at the motel for 3 days (wed-fri). We got to experience the restaurant on Friday since they are only open Friday thru Sunday. Which also means it's tough to get ahold of anyone you may need. We arrived around 7pm on Wednesday and found a note on the door to call a number for room info... we called... no answer... we text... no reply. Finally we called and text again about 30 minutes later (we had finally staying on the campground and we're preparing to stay with them) we finally got a code and number for our room. The room: It was nice has everything you needed really, including a small kitchen..only downside was the fridge didn't work. The bathroom is small with no counter space - pedestal sink. There is a small portable fan/heater...when we turned it on it also set off the smoke alarm because it burned off the dust that accumulated on it. The beds were solid...like hard, but not unbearable. The restaurant: The staff was very friendly and the locals at the bar were just as nice! The margaritas are delicious...like dangerously good!! The food is also very good!! We had ribs and a steak. Love that it comes with salad, bread and a baked potato. Overall between the location and the pure beauty of the area - we had a great stay. read more

On a recent trip up to the redwood coast, we stayed at the Steelhead Lodge's campground. Fortunately, we were the only ones there, it being somewhat early for the high fishing season. We'd found that most of the campgrounds lining Hwy 1 were full, so based on a guidebook listing, we tried driving up the Klamath River to Terwer Valley to check out the privately owned camping areas. This place is set in a pretty enough locale! The campground sites were the lawns in front and in back of the motel units. There were flush toilets and hot showers available,and the managers were the friendly folks operating the bar and restaurant. Since we were the only ones camping while we were there, there was no line to use the showers in the morning. We were told that the camping area is full during the busy July & August fishing season, and that the sound of motorboats traveling up and down the Klamath River made it less quiet then. If you're not there for the busy season, you may want to check out camping here. They have a couple of dogs and a cat that might greet you when you arrive. $10 per night for tent camping for two. On the next trip up, we'll have to try the restaurant out. The menu looked good, and the smells from the grill were enticing. if we hadn't already had our food planned out for dinners, we'd have eaten there. The bar seemed comfortable and friendly. (They make a great Lynchberg Lemonade!) The bar and restaurant are only open from 5-10PM on Fri, Sat, and Sundays. read more

This is the best hidden place ever! The rib eye was the best I ever tasted. We ordered the 20oz ribeye dinner and paid 9.00 more for share a meal, they double all your sides and we split the ribeye! Huge portions, so delicious. The atmosphere is nice, owners are nice. Only drawback, seems like they may have had family or friends there so they were a little too familiar with the place, in other words table manners not good, the girls were talking about throwing up Sushi and other disgusting topics along those lines, not exactly appetizing. Later some guy talking to our server kept dropping F Bomb. I just don't like that type of language. Other than that it was fabulous and will definitely return. read more

A hidden gem! Our server (sorry I didn't get her name) told us they stop serving food in the restaurant at 9pm, we arrived 910pm! oh no what to do?!? My friend was upset since I was asked to figure this out ahead of time and I failed to, now what? with little options, our server at the bar said let me ask our chef if he'd be willing to do a rack of ribs to go (they don't serve food at the bar), They delivered the most succulent, delicious rack or shall I say slab of pork ribs I have had in a long time. Baked potatoes and dinner salad (no frills iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatoes topped with ranch dressing). A great meal after fishing all day. Even knocked down a couple of Bud Lights while waiting. Very cool place off the beaten path, well worth the extra effort to find! The food was amazing (half of a chicken and two racks of pork ribs + salad, rolls, baked potato w/fixings & ice cream), more than anyone could eat, think man vs food portions! The service was prompt and kind. We also stayed in one of the rooms for the night, affordably priced and they had new mattresses. Cute and rustic, even had a little kitchen! Have been going here for years...and by years I mean a couple of decades ago lol. So glad the new owners have stepped in to re-open and keep all of the great traditions of the Steelhead Lodge going. We visited redwood state park and stayed at Klamath, Ca. We decided to come here due to positive yelp reviews. The restaurant has a rustic feeling and has a bar area. We were met by a friendly owner and waitress. We ordered their famous pork ribs . They were delicious and meat easily fell off the bone. Each meal comes with salad and sorbet. This was very tasty food, perfect after a day of hiking through the redwoods. Yes, the ribs were every bit as tasty as the other reviews mention. Don't expect any frills - salad was a large bowl of iceberg, carrots, etc. with a trifecta of dressings to dip. The meat, perfectly cooked, arrived with my potato and another carousel of sour cream & chives to scoop. The dessert was a cup of ice cream or sherbert, plain and simple. Yet the quality of the food and interior decor made this one of my favorite meals in Klamath. Four of us went and it was really great! The food was served nice and hot. So delicious! We had Ribs and their Rib Eye Steaks. Although thinner, my steak was absolutely delicious, could cut with a fork as it was so tender. We had leftover ribs tonight and they were great! The servers...all the servers were perfect in every way. And the bar and eating area are beautiful. We all four thought driving an hour and 45 minutes from our homes was well worth it. While we enjoyed an icy cold beer and a perfectly prepared Old-Fashioned, the proprietor told us people travel 60 miles for the ribs, that they book a room in the lodge next door so they can enjoy a night out here, guilt-free. She wasn't kidding. The pork short ribs are so tender and flavorful, they're the best we've enjoyed west of Kansas City. This is a "you get what you get, and you don't throw a fit" kind place. If you don't like iceberg lettuce or you need a special glass for your wine, I don't know why you came here. But if you like ribs or a ribeye cut of steak served with a perfectly baked potato with plenty of butter, sour cream and chives, all delivered efficiently with a smile, you'll love this place, and you'll leave with a full stomach and probably leftovers. read more

I called in yesterday to see if they were accepting customers for dine in eating for a birthday dinner of five and upon answering the phone the woman seemed already fed up. It was also a bit silly that she didn't even know whether or not they were offering dine in and had to ask someone else... At which point I then heard two other people in the background say "HECK NO" she proceeded to say the same exact thing and hung up. There aren't a lot of places to eat Klamath, California, and we were pretty full from having some fish in Crescent City, but we were also afraid if we didn't eat that we'd be starving by 10:00 p.m. With that in mind, our hosts at the Ravenwood Motel suggested we drive on over to the Steelhead Lodge for a margarita and to see if our appetites kicked in. Sure enough, once we got here (calling it a "lodge" seems a bit of a stretch - there's the restaurant/bar and a series of little cottages) our tummies were rumbling a bit. Our timing was perfect, because the cook was about to kill the hardwood fire he grills everything on. This is not a place for vegetarians. The menu is old-school American northwest: pick your meat, and how much you want. It's grilled to order, and you're given a giant serving of a basic iceberg lettuce salad, a roll, your choice of (grilled) baked potato (with fixins!) or chili, and a skewer of grilled pineapple and mushrooms. We skipped the steak, chicken, and pork ribs to try one of the two fresh fish options: ling cod (versus red snapper). This is a fishing lodge near a major ocean-fishing town, so it follows that the fish is fresh. I appreciated that the menu specified that the lobster was frozen, too. Points for honesty! So while the sides are pretty much what you would expect - completely unironic, straightforward American grub your grandma would love - they were also well prepared and satisfying. And the fish? Grilled to perfection, full of flavor, and not too dry. The giant fishbowl margaritas, also delicious, may have added substantially to our enjoyment of the food (god knows the substandard wine list wasn't going to). The service and fellow patrons were friendly and fun to talk to, and the rustic decor and historical photographs were a hoot. Absolutely the place to "see and be seen" in Klamath, as it were. Make sure you get there by 8pm, country folks close up shop early. read more

Two of us ordered the largest steak (meant to serve two) and it hung over the dinner plate, so tender I could have cut it with just a fork. A bit fatty but have never been here before so don't know if that was just the cut the night we were there. A large bowl of plain salad with tomatoes is served on the table with a trio of dressings on the side to serve yourself. The beans side dish was more like a good bean and meat stew, the baked potato a bit undercooked. Each dish came with a scoop of either vanilla or rocky road ice cream or sherbert but we were so stuffed after dinner, we could barely eat it. Chicken was nicely barbecued on the grill, the ribs are served in one, two or three layers of 6 meaty pork ribs per rack. Full bar adjacent to the dining room. I really liked this place. Started out with a couple of drinks at the very cool and rustic old bar. The bartender made me a nice vodka martini with olives. Our large party moved into the dining room and enjoyed a nice dinner. I had a ribeye steak that was cooked perfectly and came with a salad, fries, veggie and dessert. A decent value for the amount of food. The steak was cooked perfectly and the house seasoning is very tasty. The ambiance of the old fishing lodge was great and the service was quick and attentive. It seemed that my other 8 dining partners enjoyed their meals as well. I look forward to eating there again next year on our annual salmon fishing trip. read more

My family and I were visiting the Redwoods and staying at a RV park on the Kalamath River. We went out in search of dinner and came across the steelhead lodge. I was unsure when we first pulled up, but after stepping inside, I saw it looked very nice inside. The style of dining is what I would describe as family style. No separate appetizers, just very full meals. A large salad with 3 dressings, lots of warm yummy bread and butter, and amazing drinks from the bar. The strawberry daiquiri was delicious, I had an IPA and my wife had a margarita that was bomb. Truthfully we ordered the largest rib dinner and split it between the 4 of us and still had leftovers. If we travel back through this area, we will be back. read more
