My family recently enjoyed a Sunday buffet at the Steer Inn. The environment is sort of a quirky hole-in-the-wall joint with old school local memorabilia. The Jalapeño chicken was absolutely delicious and was a stand-out dish. My son and I will be going back for that alone and will probably be lugging a to-go order of it with us. The rest of the buffet was pretty good, but more-or-less a slightly better version of what you'd expect from a buffet. The other meats on the buffet, however, did not stand out particularly. The service team was fine, but a bit overwhelmed at the time of our visit. I used to come here for lunch a decade ago...but we made our way back about a month ago and had the chicken fried steak. It was spot on fantastic, and the veg of the day was asparagus and it was delicious! It was a real chicken fried steak too, great batter, delicious gravy...a fantastic meal. Our server was sweet, attentive and did a great job! The restaurant itself was remarkably clean...and I mean clean. They have been here for a long time, but all the pictures on the wall and Knick-Max's on shelves were dusted and clean. We went again on a Saturday, for their buffet. Came on a Sunday so it was an old homemade style cooked southern buffet with mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, choice of meat at the carving station and even had some fettuccine Alfredo in the line for $16.99 -- worth it! There's a salad and dessert bar too. Choice or two cobblers and a self-serve vanilla ice cream machine. Excellent service! My wife and I ate here this evening. It was our first time in years. She had a simple hamburger, I had the Whole Thing, a specialty open face burger topped with chili. Our food simply wasn't good. The burger patties were overcooked and dry. French fries were from a bag. Pretty sure the chili was canned. I just cannot recommend this. In addition, the service was terribly slow. Decided to dine in today for a late lunch. Greeted immediately at the door by Mikayla, who was also our waitress. Shown to a booth by the buffet bar. We both ordered unsweet tea ($2). My better half ordered the Classic Burger ($8.50) with cheese ($1) and Onion Rings ($2.75) She loved both the burger and rings which were huge and brought most of them home. I got the Chopped Sirloin with mashed potatoes and green beans. It was excellent. I especially loved the gravy. There were a few other couples that came in around 3:00. Plenty of space between us. Mikayla was very efficient and personable. The restaurant appeared very clean. It's kind of cool with the a/c on so you might want a sweater. I wish I could give them a higher rating but I can't. I've ate at steer inn many times even when I was a child. Since my wife and I were in the area and decided to swing in and eat. The restaurant was clean and they had 4 waitresses and it wasn't busy it was 3pm. My wife and I placed our order and waited one hour for our entrees, we thought no big deal. However, we waited for refills that we didn't receive which was disappointing, the waitresses were walking around with some others kids who looked like they were 12 and didn't seem like they wanted to work. One top of everything when I received my bill there was a charge for using a card on my bill. I would have disputed that but didn't want to waste another hour to do so. Hopefully they realize with the new legislation that goes into effect November 1st that it will be illegal to charge those who use cards. The food was good but the service makes me not want to go back. The really enjoy this restaurant but I will definitely be hesitant to not eat here again. read more

Desert was really good! The food on the buffet was room temperature. When we told our young waitress about it she said she went and talk to the cook and it was all cooked 20 minutes ago! Stated it was not cold it was fresh!what happened to the customers always right? I ask her to possibly get us something hot! She said everything on the buffet was hot. I ask if they had a meat thermometer. She just walked off. The taste of the food was fairly good the catfish was tough and cold as was the shrimp! I'm not sure on health department rules in creek county health department regulations where I come from food on the buffet is supposed to be kept at 140 degrees to keep bacteria from growing. I was very disappointed. My girlfriend came home and was sick all night throwing up. I have to say the peach cobbler and vanilla ice-cream was delicious! Mostly like because it was store bought cooked from frozen! I am a recruiter for a college in Tulsa, and wanted to get out of Tulsa and head out to schools that don't get a lot of attention. So I headed out to Cleveland, Prue and Mannford, OK. After speaking to some nice ladies in the school office in Mannford, I asked where I should go for lunch. The consensus was the Steer Inn just up the street. So I headed out and found the restaurant easily. The outside was clean and well kept. The parking lot was in good shape as well. As I walked in the door I was immediately asked if I had a take out order. I responded no, and was quickly seated towards the back of the restaurant overseeing the all you can eat hot bar. The host and server were very friendly and courteous. I ordered a sweet tea and the all you can eat buffet. The tea was sweetened perfectly. The food looked good, except the salad was iceberg lettuce (not a fan) and browning, so I skipped that. The hot bar was pleasant to look at except for the marinated chicken. It looked as if it was sitting for a while and dried out. If it was not for the nice host pointing out the the Blackened Catfish, I wouldn't of been able to tell you how good it was. I honestly didn't see it because it was covered in diced veggies. So I made a plate with mashed potatoes, brown gravy, a fried drumstick, salisbury steak smothered in onions and mushrooms, some fish nuggets (think they were catfish) and of course the blackened catfish. (see image) Everything was good, except the the fish nuggets. They were dry and just rubbery? I even tried to cover that with some malt vinegar, that they provided, and that didn't help either. They tasted decent but didn't WOW me. The BEST part of the meal was the blackened catfish. WOW is all that I can say! The fish was moist and very tender, it literally fell apart with the slightest touch of the fork. The taste was of a southwestern flavor, and even though it was covered with tomatoes, green peppers, green onions and white onions, I was able to scrape that off and still really enjoy the fish. The fish was not overpowering and melted in my mouth. I literally ate this until I couldn't eat anymore, it was that good! Overall my visit to this location was pleasant. Very nice individuals, and the food was pretty good as well. If the salad was fresher and the chicken didn't look dry I would have given this a 5 star review If your ever in Mannford, OK you need to stop by and eat at the Steer Inn. read more

The worst part about it all was being told you could only choose one type of meat or the other because they were almost out. Not my problem! I guess when when you are one of the few places in town you do not have to try. I mean I guess it's not that bad, they do give generous portions for food and prices are reasonable.
