Cherry bomb martini and veal ecstasy!!

This place is so underrated!! The food is always perfect, and drinks are on point! Love the veal ecstasy!!

Dining room empty. Hostess not friendly. This is not starting off well.

In the never-ending quest for great veal parm, my mom and I decided to try Stefano's, mostly because I have old restaurant.com certificates to use up and this place is near her house. We were familiar with the location as it used to be a neighborhood watering hole. Pub atmosphere. I like that. Walking into the very noisy bar (girls night out and they were having a very good time!), the young bartender gave us a smile and cheery hello. Then the hostess/dining room server came out with a silent sneer. We asked if we could sit in the dining room. "Sit where you want." These days I'm trying really hard to maintain my peace, control my emotions and not react. (Everyone's got something going on in life, right?) But, boy, was she testing my resolve. SERENITY NOW! As you can see, we were the only ones in the dining room, which was off of the bar area. It was chilly, but a space heater warmed the room, and the server whose attitude improved over the course of the dinner. The salad was simple but fresh and tasty. The bread was fresh, warm and tasty. The veal parm was excellent and exactly what we'd been looking for. The sautéed broccoli... not for me. Sautéed in olive oil and garlic, it was too soggy. I took it home and used it in a pasta dish, but this was an $8.50 mistake. Bottom line, Stefano's is a legit Italian restaurant, with high quality food. Reasonably priced. We skipped drinks, but in retrospect, we probably should have imbibed, or joined the ladies at the bar.

    Bread w/ Homemade Tomato Sauce

One of those places where everything on the menu sounds good. I ended up getting the Seafood Bruschetta (house toasted bread topped with bruschetta mix, smoked salmon, and baby shrimp) for an appetizer and the Penne Chef Piero (swordfish pieces, baby shrimp and sun dried tomatoes sautéed with oil and garlic in brandy cream sauce tossed with penne pasta) for my entree. I was blown away by both dishes! The Seafood Bruschetta was out of this world! Without question, the best bruschetta I ever had. I will definitely be back!

Regular Stromboli... I can't imagine how big the large one is!!!

We opted indoor by the window and they had the door open so you could still get the weather without being outside. I dreamed of the garlic rolls for years. They are baked fresh throughout the day and evening. Freshly made rolls, drowned in olive oil, and then covered in basically an entire head of garlic. So many dates and girls nights we would have to stash supplies in our bags to cover the smell. It is always beyond worth it, so simple and so perfect. I could write a love letter to these garlic rolls and how I could and possibly have eaten an entire basket by myself. They even reheat well the next day. Got a side of their freshly made sauce and you could see the whole chunks of tomato. Our server was so kind and didn't judge us at all for only wanting the rolls and the sauce. She even described the two options and offered us more if we wanted. The perfect ending to dinner when you want a little more, but cannot handle an entire plate of pasta. Come here for the bread rolls and you will not be disappointed.

The ambience was nice, clean and a good date night restaurant. They had roses available for sale for valentine's day. The food looked and smelled amazing. I had an asperol spritzer, bisteka and tiramisu. My boyfriend had the Bud bolognese. He said it was pretty good but it was heavy with onions. My plate had a NY strip steak cooked perfectly med rare , broccoli rabe and fingerling potatoes. The steak had great flavor as for the sides they were ok. They didnt have as much flavor as I had expected. The tiramisu was rich and creamy and the brandy kept me warm on my walk back to the car. I have to say one of the best tiramisu I've ever had. The asperol spritz; this was my first time having one ever, so I have nothing to compare, it was ok. It is supposed to be citrus, rhubarb and prosecco, I expected it to have a sweetness but it had an overpowering bitterness kinda like eating orange rind. Id definitely go back for the tiramisu and a few other things I'd like to try on the menu.

This Resteraunt is in a historic building and you can feel the history as you come in. Unfortunately that's where the good points end. Apart from our waitress who was very nice and cordial the rest of the staff had an arrogance about them and the bartender must not receive a lot of tips as she's cold and unresponsive. The food was mediocre at best the fig pizza was good, the baked artichoke smothered in breadcrumbs and over done. The pasta it self was good but the sauce lackluster and tasteless. The chicken melonazze was dry and rubbery. The chairs at the table were a mish mosh of wood and metal and the Caine chairs were ripping guess that's the colonial vibe.

After a few minutes, they said they could squeeze us in. It felt a bit odd -- the space isn't very large, so you'd expect the dining room to be easier to manage. We shared the burger and the carbonara. Both dishes were underwhelming, especially given the expectations we had for this spot. The burger was on the bland side, and the carbonara was made with store‑bought noodles, which took away from the dish. While the food missed the mark, the dining area itself is very nice and the service was great.

It's a place that feels special and welcoming, great for a night out with friends or a date. We started strong with the appetizers--the meatballs and burrata were excellent. Flavorful, well-prepared, and a great way to kick off the meal. Unfortunately, things took a nosedive when we got to the main course. My friend ordered the lasagna, and his verdict was harsh but honest: it reminded him of high school cafeteria food. I ordered the New York strip steak, and I can only describe it as awful--tough, flavorless, and poorly presented (photo attached if you're reading this somewhere that allows images). Thankfully, dessert helped redeem the experience. Everything we tried was delicious, beautifully done, and left a great final impression. Bottom line: Taverna 54 is worth visiting for its appetizers, drinks, and desserts. Skip the mains. With such a beautiful setting and solid service, it's a shame the entrees don't live up to the rest of the experience.
