Came out for Valentine's Day / birthday celebration with my Boyfriend, family, and friends for what was meant to obviously be a special night. My boyfriend had made a reservation weeks ago.. and even followed up the day of calling that morning to ensure we were still good to go. Once arriving it was clear the staff was a bit behind. WE greeted the host, and told him we had made a reservation. he was a bit dismissive, saying that we would need to wait because there were people ahead of us. No problem, but we ended up waiting half an hour past our reservation time. We were eventually seated in the back corner of the restaurant and seemingly forgotten about most the night. the waiter did not even take our drink order until 40 minutes later... and we had to keep reminding him of our drinks as he only brought sangria and water, and 3 times forgot a soda and a beer. Ultimately finding out they didn't even have the beer my father in law had ordered. Our appetizers took another 30 minutes to place an order on. And there were more mistakes here. No calamari was brought out despite 2 orders being put in. Extra muscles that were NOT ordered came out. And we had been asking for bread.. a commonality generally given upon being seated. We had reminded/ asked our waiter several time. It wasn't until an hour and half in that we were told the kitchen was out of bread. Which was fine had we not seen every table around us get refilled baskets. The owner offered to substitute the bread for an appetizer - and condescendingly cut up and piece mealed the singular appetizer, handing us each a small piece of the appetizer while humming a tune for us to "stop crying" seemingly mocking us for asking several times for a basket of bread, which was then clear when he told my boyfriend directly to "stop whining about the bread" Nonetheless we tried to make the most of our night. Our entries were put in with no issue however when the meals came out- the owner "reassured" me that I should be LUCKY that the kitchen made my pasta with Alfredo sauce instead of oil ... which I've 1000% ordered before and never had an issue with... it was simple chicken Alfredo- for a "fancy" Italian restaurant, you would not think this a difficult task. Additional, It was not an issue to the waiter when I placed it. Regardless several entrees for the table came out wrong. With poorly cooked chicken and My pasta sauce was pure milk. When we brought it up the waiter and the owner- it was clear he could not accept criticism or negative comments on the food preparation. He was aggressively getting in the face of my boyfriend, making snarky remarks to our table, and trying to ensure us that we were wrong despite several dishes being below standards. His whole attitude was disgusting. He tried to make it seem as he did us a favor by taking our party, claiming we did not have a reservation despite having proof, and that he treats all guests the same. Any ounce of professionalism was gone. it was evidently clear that other patrons were friends / family as they joined in his mocking of us- definitely not supporting any crumb of professionalism this place held. One of the employees - I did not get his name but he was every sweet came over to apologize and offered the ladies at the table roses for Valentines Day, a sweet gesture. However that was quickly dismissed when the owner returned to make more snarky comments to us stating "those will be $5 extra to your bill" we told him to keep his dead flowers and we packed up and left. If you're looking for a welcoming space to enjoy a meal with loved ones. This is not the place. They cannot handle stress / busy times of the day or holidays. Unfortunately, we had been warned based on their NYE party- but we thought we'd make our own assumptions. And it seemed worst than our friends experience. I will certainly never return to this place while this man is in charge. Absolutely repulsed. read more

A fantastic place. The owner is a fantastic man. He is cousin to my dear departed Uncle Ossy. Serving great food runs in the family. The eggplant parm was phenomenal. Of course since it is of my favorite meals it would be a logical favorite but it was thin, plentiful and the red sauce was silky. I left the choice of red wine to them and it is amazing. I must find out the name of it. Lovely bouquet, warm, soft texture, no tannic after taste with the red sauce. I can't speak for my family but this was an excellent meal. I was part of a group of 5 widows who went to Nonno's, arriving before 5 pm. At that time, there were 2 tables with 4 customers each. The owner Franco seemed to micromanage everything; taking orders and acting as bartender. There was a new employee who had been there only 2 days plus his nephew. Being single ladies, we wanted separate checks. At first, Franco did not want to do this. But eventually, we did get separate checks. Two ladies ordered the same appetizer of clams oreganto. I ordered fried calamari, another ordered a salad and a third ordered stuffed artichoke. Those 3 arrived at the same time. After a wait and having to summon help to get the clams, only one order arrived. Again, we had to summon help before the second order arrived. The food was great, including our main courses and dessert. But delivery was slow and the checks were slow in arrival, coming in separately and with errors on 2 of them. Five stars for food but 3 for delivery and service. Don't come here if you aren't prepared to wait. It was way past 7 before we left. read more

What a delight! We've been trying to go here for years but it's either closed, renovating, or covid! It was worth the wait though. Prepare for a relaxed dinner, as you should in the Poconos anyway, as there is no rush with service. That being said, everyone who touched our table was wonderful, that's just how it is up here. Nonno himself will probably stop by your table, if he doesn't also take your order or pour your martini! He is a hoot! I started with a Caesar salad and then the penne vodka. Both wonderful. Can't say enough about our dinner tonight! We had 2 appetizers, 2 entrees from the regular menu and 2 entrees that were tonight's specials. Seriously unbelievably delicious! We ate the apps so fast I forgot to take photos! They were stuffed mushrooms and fried calamari. Very attentive owner, bartender, and server. Will most definitely be back! Nonno's is an amazing Italian restaurant. Growing up in an Italian household my wife and I are a bit particular about Italian food out. Nonno's food is the best in Italian cuisine. Last evening I had Veal Parmigiana with a pounded veal chop on the bone. Oh Lord it was fantastic!!! My wife had Shrimp and it was amazing. We started with a stuffed artichoke and lovely antipasto salad and finished by sharing a Tartufo. What a great meal. Way too much food to eat but the great news is I get to eat the left overs today! My sister, my daughter and I had dinner here on Saturday night. We were later joined by my brother in law who was running late and the owner was kind enough to leave the kitchen open for him. That service and kindness alone gets 5 starts from this reviewer. It was my first time there but my sister and her family frequent this restaurant often. They have a great menu with wonderful daily specials. We were greeted by both owners and taken to our table. Warm friendly people. We all had a glass of wine with our bread. We requested olive oil and they immediately brought it to our table. My daughter had the lobster bisque which was on the special menu, I had the stuffed mushrooms in a pink champagne cream sauce. Large portion definitely enough to share. My sister had the house salad which was also a very nice portion. We all ordered our dinner off of the special menu. My sister had the shrimp and scallops over creamy risotto and my daughter and I had the chicken special. Everyone was very pleased with their meals, absolutely delectable. The food and service is outstanding. The owners are constantly walking around the dining room speaking to patrons and ensuring they are pleased with their meals and service. We have been to Nonos several times now. The service has always been sub par, but the owner was friendly and made us laugh and the food was good. We dined here on Friday 2-14-25 and the experience was terrible. We had a very early reservation so the place was not crowded. The owner came to take our drink order and informed us that his server and his bartender had not shown up yet, which we knew was a bad sign. We never got our drinks so had to place the order again. We then ordered an appetizer, which the owner did not even know was on his menu. We got the appetizer and it was overcooked. We still ate it though. At this point the bartender and server had arrived and the restaurant was getting crowded (it was Valentine's day after all). The owner came back to take our dinner order, but walked away before getting my husband's order so had to be called back. He seemed annoyed by us at this point. I ordered the sea bass over risotto for 45.00. It arrived over minute rice with a tasteless sauce. My husband ordered the veal parmesan which arrived overcooked. We then ordered cappuccino (tasted burnt) and dessert to go. After a very long wait, the owner arrived with our check but no dessert. When we asked him about it he was very rude and replied "I don't know" and walked away. While trying to pay the bill, the owner used our card for someone else's bill. We think we got that straightened out though. When we were leaving, there had to be at least 30 people waiting to be seated. The place is horribly understaffed which is a problem when it is a holiday like Valentine's Day. We we likely never go back primarily because of how rudely we were treated. read more

I've got a story to tell. I frequently drive along 206 back to visit my mother's lake house in Bethel, NY from Somerset County, NJ and I've taken notice of this restaurant on several occasions. Previously it was Mezzaluna and I distinctly remember the sign that fronts along 206 mentioning pizza. I finally passed Nonno's at the right time and decided to stop in for, what I thought would be pizza. After entering the wrong door, I walked into a beautiful fine dining area. Already embarrassed from entering the wrong way, I also realized I was dressed far too casually for this establishment (wearing a T-shirt and Adidas track pants). To my relief, the host treated me with the utmost respect and proceeded to provide some of the best service I've ever experienced. The bread brought to the table was fresh and delicious and the house white wine was crisp and refreshing. Rather than the anticipated pizza, I decided to go with the Gnocchi di Sorrentino. The gnocchi was perfectly light and fluffy. The sauce was rich, flavorful, and packed with chunks of delicious eggplant. The mozzarella melted beautifully and the shredded basil perfectly finished this dish. Despite some initial embarrassment, my experience at Nonno's was nothing short of phenomenal and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone in the area. read more

I will admit I was a little afraid to try this place---Sussex County needs some new good places with good food and great service. Nonno's delivered. I ordered the veal parm, which the owner described as a veal steak, bone in, and flattened and breaded. It came out the size of the dinner plate, well prepared with a marinara that was awesome!. My wife ordered the sea bass with risotto which was excellent. The wine list is reasonable with a well rounded selection. Dessert and cappuccino were well done. This place deserves 10 stars!!!! We went to this restaurant for a repass. The owner/chef was so wonderful. He made us feel like we were family. My son in law brother's 32 year old daughter passed from Addison disease unexpectedly, so it was an emotional time for the family. The funeral director highly recommended this place. This man (Sonny/Franky) took complete charge of all the food selections. It took a big burden off of Noel/Dina. The food was delicious. OMG, mussels were the best I ever had. The calamari so fresh and crisp. The manicotti was awesome. That was just the appetizers. He came out offering more but we had the main meal to be served, yet. The main course which came out in large foil containers on a table was so plentiful and scrumptious. Veal, chicken, fish, pasta. The bread was fresh and delicious.
