There are no words to express how much I appreciate Mr. Steiner and all the guys at this company! When you move to a community, you always wonder what kind of relationships you will forge. We have lived in River Falls for over 31 years now and Steiner's have been our go-to for plumbing and heating for nearly all of those years! Recently, my son purchased a home in Hastings, MN. I was trying to find a local electrician to install 3 new ceiling fans but found it difficult to find an electrician to return my calls. When one finally did, he was going to charge me $2600 for install 3 fans which I had already purchased!! I called Mr. Steiner to ask if that was a reasonable cost and he told me it wasn't. He then offered to talk to his son, Matt, and they would put their heads together and see what they could come up with! He called me back and Chris, one of his MN licensed electricians, came out just 3 days ago and put those fans in for me! THANK YOU! I know I can never say it enough! We shopped around and ultimately selected Steiner to install a new boiler for an old baseboard radiator system. It seemed fine at first, but had issues maintaining pressure. We had them come out the first time to adjust it, for a fee of course, and were reassured it was totally normal. The next time it happened we called a different place that thought the whole thing was installed strangely an didn't really want to work on it. We had Steiner come back the next time the pressure dropped again and this time the guy kept chatting us up while doing the repair and then stood around talking about the history of boilers, etc. Little did I know he would then charge us for that full time - in addition to the drive to and from their office, which happens to be 30 min away. Of course they had never mentioned this service fee when installing the system, but now we're expected to pay almost an hour of labor for them to show up to fix a chronic problem with their own system. Most recently I had come up with a solid guess of a minor issue with the switch for our zones. I called and explained what I thought the problem was, they came to service it, and I told the tech exactly what I thought was wrong. He quickly ruled that out and then went on a wild goose chase checking thermostat programming and batteries before realizing it was actually the controller I had asked him to look at and replaced the $120 part. Weeks later I get a bill for almost $450 claiming 2 hours of work PLUS a $40 service fee. I had carefully written down exactly when the tech texted, arrived, and left and it was 90 minutes tops. I waited 2 months to get a response to my emailed complaint, which was basically: nope. So, we are definitely done with Steiner and unless you live in River Falls WI I would not recommend. Much better value in MN HVAC contractors. read more

It's hard to express how much we appreciate Steiner. They are very busy so you may have to wait a while for work that is not urgent to be completed, but when one of their people arrives, they will exceed your expectations. And they have your back in an emergency! We have trusted them with everything from a leaky toilet to a complete overhaul of our electrical system and installation of plumbing in our underground sod house. Every person on their team is cheerful, thoughtful and professional and I feel like they truly care about my projects and me. Such a rare thing these days. I've had the pleasure of working with a number of their people but the most recent project gave me the opportunity to work with the founder and he is a uniquely talented person who instills such incredible values in his people. We had the misfortune of having our barn water freeze when temps were in the single digits. This company did a great job from the initial phone call! They were able to come out very quickly and did accurately diagnose and resolve the issue. read more

We developed a leak in the supply line to the toilet. First person was there quickly but a new leak started just down from where the work was performed. The next person ended up replacing everything the first one did. read more

Fact 1: First person I spoke to was helpful, but never gave me an expected time of plumber arrival, so I left my door unlocked for 3 days. Fact 2: Second person, the plumber, said no one told him what needed to be done at my house, and he sounded grumpy on the phone. I got a bad impression, so I never contacted them for a follow up -- since plumber said he couldn't or wouldn't investigate without my physically being there. (Which was inconvenient for me.) Fact 3: Even though I was not billed for this visit, I was initially told by the plumber that I would be receiving a bill. Fact 4: I received a defensive, hostile voice message after my first Yelp review was posted. I will risk this again. Because what I post here is the truth. The biggest problem I had was with the actual plumber -- he was cranky, abrupt and verging on rude on the phone. And no one told him what the issue was before he left for the home visit -- he said this as if it was my fault. "No one told me what to DO," he said in his voicemail. Well, shouldn't the office manager have told him at least the basics? I just was not impressed. So -- now I will await the angry phone call... One downside to living in a small town. I had a major plumbing issue that caused additional damage to a ground floor bedroom. I called Steiner Plumbing, having had great success with their HVAC services. I spoke to Monica who answered the phone on the second ring. Her cheery voice put me at ease as I explained my plumbing issue. She quickly set in motion the scheduling of repairs for the next day. The tech assigned was Aaron. He came ready to solve the problem, and did so in consultation with myself and as needed with the main office. Aaron explained the plan, and got to work. I had to go to work, leaving Aaron in my home to complete the job. He sent me photos of the progress. He completed the work in a timely manner, and fully cleaned up both the upper and lower job areas. I am totally pleased with all aspects of my interactions with Steiner Plumbing and Electric. Two thing you always hear, " Sure no problem" and " I'm sorry we didn't fix it correctly". Paul Steiner completely over sells the capabilities of his company and employee's. Never on time and less than a 50% chance of it being properly completed. Guilty of contractor "branding". Meaning start a job, leave and he who screams the most may see them return someday. read more
