I'd like to give my wholehearted endorsement to Lotof and the staff at Michelle's Pianos. A few…read moreweeks ago, I realized my baby grand was having significant issues and needed to be rehabilitated. I called around to several places, and Lotof was the only person who took the time to talk to me. We discussed what was happening, and he offered to pick up the piano the next week when they were in Bend delivering pianos to another place. Before they took my piano, I went to Portland to meet Lotof and check out their rehabilitation work. Lotof took the time to show me around the studio, where I played many good (and not so good) pianos. He took the time to answer my questions, and I felt confident placing my piano in their hands. After they assessed my piano, Lotof called me and was very honest about the situation. We discussed options, and he was able to work with my fiscal situation. After much deliberation (and a lot of options) I decided my best option was to trade in my baby grand on a new upright that had better action, better tone quality, and was something that would support me and my family for years to come. Lotof took the time to listen to my personal situation, and appreciate my background when making recommendations. I felt like he cared about me as a person and wanted to do what he could to support me and my family. He's a musician, and that shows in how he fits the piano to the person. Thank you Lotof and the caring technicians, movers and staff at Michelle's. I've never bought a piano before, but if you're a musician, it's a very intimate purchase. Thanks for taking the time to help me reach the right decision. Thumbs WAY up!

They took great care to carefully breakdown, skillfully wrap and protect our grand piano. They efficiently loaded and secured it in the truck. What an amazing experience! Don't trust just any company to move your fragile instruments. Excellent experience all around.

I was recently searching for a guitar repair shop to help properly set up my Fender EVH guitar's…read moreD-Tuna device (it was not working adequately and causing strings to go slightly out of tune). My first call was to 12th Fret on Hawthorne... they had done some fret work for me 20 years ago, and I was impressed with their service and capabilities. However, I didn't get a call back after leaving a voicemail with my service details. I called a few of the other "boutique" repair shops around town, and left voicemails... but again, no call back. I finally found a shop that picked up the phone, but when he said he had never heard of the D-Tuna device, I said never mind. Then I remembered local Tigard Music had a repair shop. I called and spoke with Mark, and felt really good about the conversation, and brought my guitar in. While my request was not a common service request, Mark did some research and came up with a solution that worked perfectly. He also addressed a fret issue for me, and did both services for a great price. He even gave me advice on some other minor fixes I could do myself without spending a lot of money. I was very impressed. I will definitely be bringing my guitars for repair/upgrades to Mark and Tigard Music in the future! P.S. While I am primarily a guitar player, I bought a ukulele from them recently, and the selection/prices were great! Aloha!

Evan helped me pick out a recorder, electric piano, and sheet music. Very sincere and most helpful. Can't decide if I want to rent or buy a flute and they have options for that when I'm ready. This is a tricky instrument, but I had taken music lessons for much of my life and wanted to really master this one. As an adult there is nothing more frustrating than a music teacher giving you 'Mary Had a Little Lamb' to practice! I showed up with a Chopin piece at my first lesson and rather than tell me I couldn't play that, she said, 'let's give it a go!' Lani treated me as an adult from the beginning, with adult iinterests. She has always pushed me beyond my abitliy and made piano fun at the same time. When things got a bit frustratiing she sensed the need for a change and a different piece of music was introduced, yet we always came back to the frustrating music at a later date, and as a result I Ihave some wonderful pieces in my repertoire. Lani is the one of the kindest people I know and her love for the instrument is palpable. It's fun watching her nerd out on piano theory and making theory fun for students as well! But piano is not only about the music. Piano is about getting to know yourself, experiencing the frustration together with someone you can trust to keep your best interests at heart. I have grown as a person through the years of piano lessons, and I do believe a great teacher will help one grow. Seeing her students go on to study music in college may be the biggest compliment one can give to Lani as a music teacher. She instills in you the love of the instrument, the deisre to practice more to become a better player. I have watched the younger students grow up in front of me through the years as we played together in group classes. But music is not just for the young. I hear so many adults say they wished they could play piano. I started in my late 40's with Lani. You can too. And if you are looking for a great instructor to guide you through the process, I can't think of anyone better than Lani Elston at Piano Possibilites.
