Large Charcuterie & Cheese Board - Large Board
    Kelsi H.

This place was pretty cool. I love tapas and am always excited to try new places. Most of the seating is at the bar. They have a few tables in the back and high tops along the wall, but most people were sitting at the bar. This is a place to come, sip wine, slowly eat your food, and chill with friends. Welcoming atmosphere. It was our first time and we felt like regulars by the time we left. We started off with the cheese board. We got the large but honestly could have stuck with a small. We also ordered the paella. I love paella and this was not the traditional paella I was imagining. It was okay but not my favorite. I did, however, love the fried chicken sliders and the crem brûlée. Their wine list is pretty extensive and the staff is very knowledgeable about the wine and food.

A friend an I thought we were going to have dinner at Seed. However, with no reservations and no open seats at the bar we were advised we could try Stem Wine bar. Stem wine bar is essentially a sister company to Seed. We walked in and grabbed a seat at the bar. The Female bar tender with blonde hair poured us a glass of water, but did not offer a smile or a name. The energy she gave off is that she did not want to help us!! Paul did come over and asked if he could assist us. He was a lot more helpful than the blonde female bar tender. Note that Since this is a wine bar they serve tapas style items. There is only one entree available and it is a burger. We ordered Brussels sprouts, deviled eggs, shrimp, goat cheese dip and paella. The Brussels came out within minutes of placing our order. They offered a new take on Brussels. They were drenched in an oil based sauce, mixed with apples, and bacon. They were decent. Nothing that I would recommend, but also if I had to eat them again I would. Next the deviled eggs arrived( serving of 1.5 eggs). They were beyond disappointing. There was a hint of a truffle taste. I have had the deviled eggs from Seed and they are 10 times better than the ones offered at the wine bar. The shrimp came out next. They are served with bread. The shrimp are served sitting in a butter sauce. This dish was also just ok. The paella finally came out. This was the item that really disappointed me. This tasted like nothing. Literally the worst tasting paella I have ever eaten. The rice tasted like the rice that comes out of the bag that you cook in the microwave. The dish was salty, and it was not served in a cast iron dish as most paellas are. They should change the name of this dish to rice mix, or something more fitting. The goat cheese dip was another disappointing item. This tasted like warm cream cheese topped with some meat. When asked what was used to make this item, we were told that it's cream cheese, Parmesan cheese and goat cheese. However, this is what the menu reads: baked goat cheese dip: Medjool Dates, Bacon, Pistachio, Balsamica, Baguette. The name of this dip is very misleading. It's primarily cream cheese topped with goat cheese. Overall this was a disappointing dining experience. I would recommend that if you are not able to dine at Seed skip this place. I would hate for you to experience this first and fail to experience the greatness of Seed.

I've been meaning to visit this place for a while. It's located in a little nook beside Seed. When you walk in, they have the bar partioned off for social distancing...which is nice. They had great selection of wines and small plates for you to select from. The bartenders were the best part. Candice was absolutely lovely! She was super friendly and attentive. Then we had John...well John was awesome! He was made this signature cocktail and it was delicious! The only thing I remembered was that it had gin, celery bitters, and topped off with prosecco. We had the small charcuterie board with our wine. Afterwards, we tried John's cocktail and chatted with them as they were closing. I highly recommend you trying them if you want an intimate experience.

We tried this place last night for the first time. They are adjacent to the Seed kitchen and I believe is an adjunct establishment as they are connected. Pros: The staff was very friendly and attentive. There are a few tables and mostly bar seating. The music set the mood for an exclusive experience. The selection of wines available was quite extensive. My dining partner and I each tried a flight which I think is the best approach. The Salumi & cheese board was good as were the veal meatballs. I recommend the sparkler flight it was very light and a good start to our night. Cons: The pricing for an individual glass of wine I feel was marked a bit on the higher side, and it did not necessarily correspond to the pricing for the flights (definitely the better value). Also for the pricing on the large meat & cheese board I would have expected more comparable portion sizes as some other restaurants we've been to.

This place was amazing! The service, drinks and appetizers are just crazy good! Love this place me and my date have a great time! Will be back again for sure!'

Dark, dim. Lovely ambiance. Excellent service. Fun menu. This day's large charcuterie and meat plate includes FOUR different types of cheeses (mix of soft and hard.. See menu board) and FOUR different salami. Who knew there were so many different salami?! I love it all. Also tried the succulent shrimp, no extra sauce needed. Bacon wrapped dates are good. However, I'll save the calories for something different next time. All this in addition to bread and quality olive oil was adequate too fill up two! Definitely recommend going with friends to sit at their table. A bff to sit at their high tops. Or a significant other to cozy up at the bar. Will definitely return to try more items and give this place a FIVE star! Space is limited. Apparently they take reservations but when I arrived, it was self-seating. Plenty of parking up front as the lot is shared with other businesses, including sister restaurant, Seed!

Disclaimers: - I'm not a wine drinker so their wine list would be lost on me. I do appreciate them having a full bar and a very good cocktail list; - I have only been here once thus far on a Monday for a private Mother earth Beer Dinner and have no knowledge about the regular menu choices. With that being said, I expected the atmosphere inside to be more vibrant and the bar more spacious. Instead it is just pretty much the bar and 3 small tables. Again, I do not know what this place is like on a regular day as far as the crowd, noise level etc. The beer dinner consisted of 5 courses, all paired with Mother earth beers or house cocktails for those who do not drink beer. We were greeted right away and were given a basket of beer pretzel nibs with a side of mustard. I personally prefer a bread basket. We also ordered pre-dinner drinks - Vieux Carre and Maine "something", both rye based - and both were delicious. First course was Red snapper crudo and although lovely, did not need the oil at all. They paired it with some kind of a wine/pom/champagne concoction which I wasn't a fan of. Second course was Chorizo, fig and focaccia stuffed calamari and this was probably my least favorite dish. Other than the calamari itself, there was no texture to the dish. The stuffing was just mush. Third course was my absolute favorite - Braised pork cheek with stewed hominy, corn, and okra. I can eat this every day. It was so tender, rich, and robust, but not overwhelming. Strangely, they paired it with Paloma cocktail with is kind of light and citrusy and did not go with this dish. I would have done a manhattan or something. I was very much looking to the forth but was quite disappointed - the duck breast was overcooked and extremely tough. I couldn't even cut into it. They did end up bringing a replacement with looked 100% better but unfortunately just as tough. The hash was good though and the duck leg meat in it was extremely tender (which is usually the opposite). This was paired with the Vieux Carre. The fifth and final course for me was orange flan (substitution per request) and it was excellent. They paired it with lemoncello but their version was jsut too sweet on top of the sweet desert. Overall: the service was prompt, I loved the drink menu, and there is plenty of parking. All of the courses were explained as well as the beers, and for $75 pp with drinks and gratuity included it was a great deal.

The Vieux Carre. Great every time.

I'm picky about swanky bars. I waited 3 visits to write this... I love wine. And if you love wine like me, you want to talk to someone that knows just enough to make you ponder, "the grapes get their flavor from an adjacent pasture known for organic crop rotation in a region notorious for acidic soil and challenging climate?" Ok. Got it. You win and my wine is good and that makes you good in my book. Really, I'm just in love with liquor. All kinds. Classic mixology intrigues me the way perfect pancakes do. You see, pancakes, to be perfect, only require a few basic ingredients (and no, I'm not a "just add water" type of guy.). But they are soooo easy to screw up. It's the same with a good cocktail. The secret ingredient in both is care and attention. Stem gives you that. The three different bartenders I've tested with the classic Vieux Carre have each nailed it with such consistency I could have sworn it was really just all one night in sequence. But it wasn't - it was three separate times. I now love you for cocktails. The food menu is limited but appropriate for such a place. It is narrowed only to amuse bouche-like delicacies such as oysters and charcuterie. All good. The atmosphere is casual and not pretentious, but feel free to have a dressed up night here, because they will treat you like you are so you might as well. An old school throw back to days when good bars were great - and it's next to Seed. Need I say more?

Over the bar was a large screen TV showing beautiful scenes of Italy, with contemporary Italian pop playing in the background. I started with the soup of the day, which was lobster bisque that was so full of lobster that I would call it a stew versus a soup. The complimentary bread was slightly toasted and topped with aromatic herbs that paired perfectly with the olive oil with which it was served. My entree was a special, and was the short rib. There was nothing "short" about it as the huge beef rib had a bone that overhung the plate that a caveman would be proud to own. The beef was fork tender and the steak knife provided with it wasn't necessary. It was paired with a delicious and sweet wine sauce. And the side was tender gnocchi (al tartufo) in a rich and creamy sauce flavored with truffle. Since they also have Risotto al Tartufo on the menu, that will definitely be on my list for my next visit. And I definitely want to bring my wife to that next visit because the flavor and food were so wonderful, it's a great place for a date night.

The yurt was located on the restaurants patio, and was decorated for Christmas. There were lights and a wreath on the inside, as well as blankets in case it got chilly. There was a flap as the door that looked like it closed, but ever did because waiters were frequently entering. I thought that there would be multiple yurts, but we were the only one. From where I sat, I was in the direct line of vision of another guest outside of the yurt, eating on the patio, which was a little awkward. It was not as private as it seemed. We came for the 6pm time slot, and the guests who were there at 4pm were taking a while so we weren't sat until around 6:30pm. We got lucky with the weather and it wasn't cold, but I could see that being a point of concern very quickly. As previously mentioned, they do provide blankets. We started with the Charcuterie board, and it was exceptional. It says on the menu that it feeds two, but I think it could feed three if you're not starving. There was one cheese that was in a coating of what seemed to be nuts, and that was the star of the show. For the entree, I got the Cacio e Pepe with chicken. The pasta was creamy and very cheesy (!) and there was substantial amount of chicken. I got full about half way through, and took the rest to-go. Although there were some hiccups, this was an enjoyable, novelty dinner, and I would recommend.

We started with the pimento cheese dip and were both surprised to find that it was served hot along with several pieces of soft, warm bread. It was SO good and a nice change from the way that most other restaurants serve their pimento cheese. Even hubby loved it and he is usually not a fan of cheese. For my main, I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that this is THE BEST MEAL I have had in a really long time. Total comfort food that hit all the right spots on this chilly afternoon. The cheese on the sandwich was just the right amount of ooey gooey and the tomato soup was perfection. I was tempted to lick the bowl when I got to the bottom, but that wouldn't be very dignified while dining out, so I did the next best thing by sopping up the residue with what was left of my sandwich. It was delicious and I will be back for more soon. Hubby ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and said it was the best chicken sandwich he has had. He is hard to please, so between the pimento and sandwich, 1920 achieved the improbable in impressing hubby. Service was impeccable. The main reason we had not come back in a while is because it is a small space and can feel pretty congested when it fills up, which is not the most comfortable. We don't like feeling crowded, but after today's visit, we decided that the limited space is a small price to pay for amazing food and service, so we will undoubtedly return soon. Perhaps we will try sitting outside instead when the weather cooperates. Big thanks to 1920 for starting our new year off on the right foot!
