From the moment we sat down, our waitress came across as rude and impatient. One of the elderly members of our party had difficulty hearing her and needed her to repeat herself a couple of times. Rather than showing a little patience or understanding, she seemed visibly annoyed that she had to do so. Later, when we asked the maître d' for an additional takeout box, she told us we would need to find our waitress. The problem was that our waitress was nowhere to be found. What made the interaction even more frustrating was that the maître d' was sitting at her station doing absolutely nothing at the time. Instead of helping with a simple request that would have taken all of 10 seconds, she sent us searching for an employee who wasn't available. She eventually got us the box, but only after making a completely unnecessary issue out of it. The food wasn't much better. I would compare it to a mediocre pizza shop that happens to serve Italian entrées. The garlic rolls were good, but that's about where the compliments end. The meals themselves were overly salted and simply not enjoyable. To make matters worse, we overheard a guest at the table next to us complaining to the manager that none of their food arrived warm and that the dishes were brought out at different times. Between the poor service, the lackluster food, and the issues we witnessed around us, the entire experience was disappointing. Suffice it to say, none of us will be returning. Picked up Chicken Parm and calzone. First thing I noticed was the smell of the restaurant. Like dirty kitchen rags. Got to be the carpet, and I have to wonder if they need a whole make over considering the age of the establishment. My husband couldn't ea the Parm, it tasted like it was fried in old oil and was weirdly tangy...the chicken, not the sauce. Smells like the clientele. It's 7.30pm on a Saturday and we are only ones in our section, the other tables are filled with retiree couples. The resturant looks and smells mank. Despite how empty the place is, it takes them over 5 minutes to greet us and find us a table. Our waiter starts sweeping around us half way through entrees which are barely edible. The staff are oddballs but polite enough. Everything was swimming in butter/oil and bland. I think Frankies peaked in the 80's and its time for them to bid farewell before out live their customers. I arrived at 950p and the manager was coming out with my pizza. When I got home (15 minutes) my pizza was already cold and certainly needed a few more minutes in the oven. It was "almost" cooked. I speak to Kevin the manager , I tell him about the blandness of the meatball and he says he will take the meatballs off my check no kindness at all honestly he shouldn't be dealing with the public . And in the history of speaking to managers about issues, never and I mean never has a manager taken the food away. So in order for me to get a refund he takes half of my meal. Tonight I took my daughters and 3 grandchildren to Frankie's to experience something beyond my Italian cooking. We were so very disappointed. We ordered eggplant parmigiana, veal Francese, chicken parmigiana and a frozen piece of chocolate cake for dessert. The food was tasteless. The sauce (Italians call it gravy) was so bland. Hunts out of a can is probably better. The eggplant was so thin it had no substance. What a waste of $100. Tomorrow I will make eggplant parmigiana to make up for tonight. Let me finish by saying I'm an 71 year old Italian...from Boston...my father was born in 1917 in the living room of his North End home (look up North End.) He moved to the "country " aka suburbs. We lived downstairs from my grandparents who barely spoke English. We grew most of our vegetables and grandma (Nonna) canned vegetables for winter. She and my mother were the best cooks in town and we lived near many Italians, most of whom were relatives. By the way, I have not found a decent pizza in Atlanta yet. There are great ethnic restaurants in Atlanta area. Malaysian, Peruvian, Spanish. Soul food is very good. Try one of them. But for Italian or pizza, visit Boston. read more

This place is a staple of the area. It's been around since I was a kid 20 years ago. I would say this is like a mom and pop Olive Garden. The tossed salad and garlic rolls are *chefs kiss* and come with entrees. I want to love the pasta dishes but for me they're just okay. My husband does love them though! Their pizzas are good. Came here on a Friday night with a couple of family members and it was not too busy so we got seated right away. Ordered the Pasta Primavera and it came with salad and rolls. The waitress was kind enough to bring salad and rolls for the whole table even though one of our party did not order an entree that came with them. The salad was alright, a pretty standard garden salad loaded with cheese. The rolls were swimming in garlic butter, however. I am somebody who can appreciate a buttered roll, but there was about a quarter of an inch of oil in the bottom of the bowl with the rolls which I found a bit much. My pasta dish was good, but nothing special. Vegetables were not overdone, and the sauce was on the lighter side which suited the dish. Similarly good but not amazing reviews from my family on the fettuccine pasta, and the calamari and muscle starters. I'd been to it a few times before Covid and it's about the same as I remembered. AMAZING FOOD! I went with my husband and two daughters. My husband ordered the pesto pasta, which was excellent. I ordered the Penne Ala Vodka which was incredible, and my daughters got the pizza and angel hair pasta with sauce. We all enjoyed so much! The garlic roles and salad were also incredible. We took my mom here for her birthday. We've been here many times before so we were shocked at what happened. We ordered food and all was good. Two of us got our food and the rest didn't. Always cold by the time it hits the house and I live three blocks away. Having been coming here for four years, my only issue is the front of house and the manager. Constant turnover and the manager is pretty combative with the customers on many occasions. It's the reason why we've stopped going, though we still love the food. Party of 2 attended on a Monday for Valentines Day. Since my fiancé did not tell me where we'd be going until the day of, I was a little concerned after I read some of the reviews here. I have to tell you I felt like I was entering an Italian restaurant just like the ones in the gangster movies. The interior has character. It surely was packed inside. I had the Zuppa di Pesce which was great but wish there were more linguini in there. It was a huge plate and definitely needed a to go box. My fiancé had the seafood pasta and he was happy too. As far as the drinks, I had my usual, Prosecco and was happy. The waitress was very sweet and despite being super busy she came to check on us multiple times. Were we blown away?! No. I think people should give this place a try. It's not claiming to be a Michelin 3 star restaurant so I'm not sure what is the deal with these bad reviews. It's just an Italian restaurant... Just "ok" We accidentally came to this place looking for "Salata." We decided to give it a try as we literally had pulled into a space. There was an odor at the door as if the place had some issues with cleaning older spaces. You can tell because items are stored all over the restaurant that it's difficult for them to clean around. It wasn't super crowded, but we waited a while to be greeted at the door (to the point where I had to go find someone to seat us). I am 9 months pregnant so I felt like it was too long especially because she admitted seeing us getting out of the car. The person who could've been the manager or owner completely disregarded us at the front door while on a call on her cell. We picked a booth. The plate on the table had food stuck to it. The booth seating had duck tape. Just a mess. Our server was nice (she served the restaurant pretty much alone). We ordered the stuffed mushrooms. My husband had lasagna and I ordered the manicotti. Salad and bread came with the meal. The bread was ok. The salad was not good, flavorless and poorly constructed. The mushrooms came literally like right before the food and they were actually pretty good. My husband got his lasagna and I got a strange looking pasta tube filled with meat (cannelloni). Thank God I'm not vegan (insert eye roll here). It took her a minute to come back and I had to point out that I ordered the manicotti. Of course it took about 15-20 mins to get it. When I did that was pretty good. My husband described his lasagna as "not bad." Overall I wouldn't come back. This place needs an overhaul. It's old and not well kept. We were looking for Lasagna and pasta and found this place on Yelp. It was a Sunday afternoon, and the restaurant was almost empty. We were served by Claire, who was wonderful. Quick service, big smile and very nice. Food was pretty good. We loved the garlic rolls and got a large serving of house salad. We had the lasagna, clam linguini and linguini with meatballs. We would've ordered a more expensive bottle and tipped her off of the full price of the bottle. But, there is always next time. The rolls were delicious, even if they're swimming in a bath of oil. The stuffed mushrooms were fantastic. I don't understand the lemon wheel. I assume it was for the presentation. The Caprese was enjoyable, but I would've liked to see larger pieces of basil. When you chiffonade the basil that thin, the oils bleed out. It's fine on a margarita pizza, but dry's out on a salad. They used a ton of olive oil throughout. Every dish had a generous amount, aside from the baked ziti! For dessert, we enjoyed the lemon-mascarpone cake and had a wonderful time together! Horrible treatment by the staff. I arrived with about 12 minutes before closing. One of the staff was standing at the door and quickly ran inside and shut the door, leaving me to open it and come in on my own. Then when I came in a very surly and rude female hostess, came up and said to me That the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes. This place used to be a great place. And I used to go there all the time. Frankies is a hit and miss. I'm a creature of habit and tend to have about the same thing. Marguerita pizza with extra garlic. One day I couldn't stop raving about it. The second time it was ok, edible but the crust was soggy. Big No No for a pizza. Third time the basil was frazzled as it it was baked, tomatoes were soggy and no buffaleta mozzarella. My fiancé had the veal parmigiana. It was ok. Sauce was sweet, not much flavor and the crust was too thick, so you had to look for the veal in there. Good luck on which chef cooks for you.
