This guy... $85 just to look at your PC... I brought my PC to Step Ahead Computers over a fan controller issue. Two days later the guy calls me and tells me that my hard drive is toast and I need a new hard drive and Operating System and it would be an additional $300. I was playing video games on the system right before I brought it to him so I know the hard drive was fine and this guy was not telling the truth. I got my PC back $85 poorer and when I checked the hard drive I could clearly see that it had been completely erased! This guy is nothing more than a con man with a store front. read more

Came here looking for a keyboard. Technician at the front desk completely ignored me. He couldn't be bothered to look up from whatever shotty job he was doing on a television to let out a "hi" or "one moment" while he continued his causal conversation over the phone. Inexcusable customer service and an even worse selection of generic keyboards. I've never had anything serviced here but I can tell you, these guys are like every other IT business: arrogant and incompetent. Update: called the store immediately after posting this review and complained about the service. What good is a review if it doesn't provide feedback? Homeboy "dudes" me over the phone, tells me lies about his customer service, then proceeds to threaten me by saying "where else are you gonna go? We're the only computer repair shop for 60 miles" followed by an upbrupt hangup. read more

Haven't actually had an estimate yet from them but I just dropped my 50in tv to Paul bardelli and let me tell you what the customer service here is amazing! Paul was super nice and informative of the process they will be doing with my tv. I highly recommend you come in and check them out! Great customer service! My fiance is a complete computer nerd and the guy he talked to let him take some scrap computer parts he was gonna throw away. They pretty much sell anything in here. Monitors, computers, etc. Prices seem pretty reasonable too. Didn't get any repairs or anything but would come back for sure! read more

I shattered the glass screen on my iPhone for the first time ever. I was recommended to go to a private repair place rather than directly to Apple to "save money". I found Step Ahead after the iPhone repair shop up the blvd. was closed on vacation. :| The owner was very friendly, but quickly directed me to the technician there, Walter. Walter "fixed" my phone after 1/2 day. The next day I realized my screen was actually coming away from the metal frame of the phone. This made the phone drop calls at random, put calls on hold, mute, & try to Facetime landlines - all of this had to do with the screen not being repaired properly. Within 5 days or so, I was on a phone call and it dropped the call for a third time. Out of frustration, I slapped the phone on my thigh - WHICH SHATTERED IT AGAIN. Mind you, I am no body builder. This guy just never fixed my phone. I go back in to have him rectify the situation, and the best he offers me is to "not charge me labor the next time I come in to have it 'fixed'". I told him there would most likely not be a next time. dddduuuuuuuuhhhhhhhh. So, after spending $100 for nothing here at Step Ahead, I ended up at Apple anyway - and my phone works great now. I really hesitated leaving a Yelp review, as I can appreciate the cordial demeanor of the owner here and do want small businesses to succeed, however the anger bubbled up again as I just got the charge on my credit card bill for the complete waste of time spent leaving my phone w/Walter. read more

The owner is a nice guy. The technician, not so much. That guy has the personality of a brick. When I called, I described my problem, and the owner says they could have it back to me the next day, two days tops. Few days later,I call and the guy says he'll call tomorrow. Two or three days after that, the guy calls and delays again. (Supposedly he's working on it) so.. 2 FREAKING WEEKS AND A DOZEN PHONE CALLS LATER, the guy calls me and says he can't fix the problem, but I'm being charged only 70 bucks instead of 129. Oh gee thanks. I love giving you money to do shit I know how to do and not get the registry issue fixed that I DIDN'T know how to do, hence why I came to you in the FIRST DAMN PLACE. read more

Don't go here! The computer guy is a hack , took my computer for a simple fix on the power source connector. I've had it replaced somewhere before with no problem. Instead I got my computer back unusable probably because he gutted out the internal parts that I couldn't see til I took it elsewhere. The owner guy is nice ,which is why I came in ,to support local businesses. But I will never refer anyone here. Disgusting businesses practice ..Beware of this chop shop.and there's other reviewers out there who has had there computers gutted too must be common practice. read more

The worst experience ever! When the problem with the computer was diagnosed, my son decided he wanted to take the computer elsewhere for repair. When he went to retrieve the computer, the owner Paul was rude, and did not know anything about the status of the computer. He started cussing, using the f word at my son, and refused to return the computer to him. The reason being the work is subcontracted out to a computer repair person. Paul doesn't know anything about computers. The subcontractor works his own hours and left early for the weekend without the work being completed. This happened on two occasions. My son needed his computer so we paid the expensive repairs and cut our losses. I will never do business with this shop again nor do I recommend it. read more

I was thrilled with the work Walter performed on my laptop computer at Step Ahead Computers. Walter told me it would take a day or two to get the part I needed and he performed the repair with the new part within 2 days. The price was better than quoted from other repair places and Walter was very knowledgeable about computers. Walter is also a friendly guy that was easy to talk with. sorry for the first reviewer, the person who fixed my hp laptop was Walter. Maybe its a different guy from what you had. Anyways I went in on a Thursday to get an est on my laptop bc the jack was broken. I had been calling all over the place trying to find someone local, most guys were out of business or they travel to your home. They dont have a place of business, which I am uncomfortable with people coming to my home. The price range I got from other people were $110, $120 and $127. Step ahead charged me $132, they cost the most yet I chose them bc the owner was so nice. That says alot about customer service. He was very pleasant on the phone and knew what I was talking about. Unfortunately dc jacks go out often. There is only one computer tech guy there and the owner. They had to order the part I needed. It took about a week to fix. Not bad. My hp has lasted for about 2 years and I am happy with it. All the wear and tear from the kids using it for game and pluggin it in and unplugging it. Bound to happen. I also needed a new battery of which Walter said would cost $40 but I told him no. Besides I can order my own battery online for cheaper. Yucaipa is a bit of a drive for me from Redlands but if I come across future computer problems, I would feel comfortable to come here. read more
