I would not recommend Step-by-Step Moving & Delivery based on our experience. Last month, they moved my daughter's belongings from one house to another in Plano--a distance of less than one mile. We requested a crew of three movers, but they showed up with four. One of the crew members appeared to be very young and inexperienced, possibly under 17. Instead of helping move items efficiently, he spent a long time trying to dismantle a crib with a screwdriver. I politely suggested that they simply move the crib without taking it apart, since it would save time. Apparently, he didn't appreciate the suggestion and went to speak with the crew leader. To my surprise, the entire crew stopped working and refused to continue until I left my daughter's house. They claimed it was because of "liability," but they couldn't clearly explain what liability they were referring to. We ended up losing about 45 minutes before they finally resumed the move. The entire experience was very unprofessional. Before the job started, everyone was friendly, but once they began working, the pace was extremely slow. It often felt like they were moving one small item at a time instead of working efficiently. A four-person crew took nearly the entire day to move the contents of a four-bedroom house less than a mile away. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Step-by-Step Moving & Delivery. If you're looking for movers who work efficiently and professionally, I would suggest considering other companies. This photo shows the moving crew standing around instead of working. If i was able to give this company 0 stars I would!!! The movers came to our house and yes they were friendly and played the part that they were so "professional" but the main guy that went over the agreement said that they covered 60 cents per pound in damage from moving furniture from my home to the truck and same for from truck to my new home. He continued to say that once on the truck the insurance would cover and damages up to $170,000 (never said only if the truck gets into an accident). I have or should I say had a 75 inch television that is not even a year old worth $2000. My fiancé had the TV wrapped in moving blankets and shrink wrapped because we were planning on moving it ourselves. When the movers were in my house they asked if the tv was going and I told them that our plan was to move it ourselves. The mover stated that he would be able to move tv even though it was not in a box because it was wrapped. I trusted his opinion since the whole time the movers stated that they move fine art work and million dollar homes all of the time. That was my first mistake!!!! When the movers arrived at the new home they placed all of the boxes in the designated rooms and placed the TV on top of a stone fireplace. (Again they are the "professionals" and have moved "million dollar homes") So I wasn't inspecting where they were placing anything. They packed up left and accepted a generous tip (even the owner Rusty whom I had no clue was the owner or I never would have tipped him) and left. When we unwrapped the television it was destroyed!! The screen was cracked and there was a huge crack on the back as well. Unfortunately by the time we saw the television was destroyed they were closed. As soon as they were open for business my fiancé called and explained the situation to the owners wife Katrina (the other owner). She was rude and her husband/owner/mover Rusty was in the background being just as rude. Refusing to take responsibility for what they did and said all they will pay is 60 cents per pound which would be approximately $45. Rusty blatantly lies and said that he never told us that if something happens to our belongings on the truck/during the move that it would be covered under insurance. My family moved from New York to Frisco Texas without one item being broken or even scratched yet Step by Step Moving and Delivery managed to destroy our 75 inch $2000 television not even 1 year old!!! Just know if you decide to choose Step by Step Moving and Delivery if your belongings are ruined, broken and destroyed you will not see a dime or if your lucky you will get $45 (which we did not want that's just a joke). read more

I called and was very pleasantly surprised that a real person answered the phone. All of the movers I contacted thru Angi's List only texted me. They sent over a list for me to check off our inventory on, and returned a quote for a move from Frisco to the San Francisco Bay area of$10,000. For 1 one bedroom, ground floor, 817 sq ft apartment. I was shocked...it was $3500 more than the previous bid we'd received. But I really liked dealing with them. So I asked if they would do a walk thru of our home, and she was happy to oblige. They never showed up. She called me 9 hours later saying "Hey, we didn't make it there this morning." (As if I had not noticed - no show, NO CALL!) She offered to have her husband come the following week, saying Rusty would call when he was on his way over. He never called, AGAIN! I looked into every moving scenario and because Step by Step had 5 stars across the board, I figured I'd give them a call. First, Katrina is awesome. She understood my hesitancy to throw some cash down and gave me room to make my decision (which ended up in their favor, obvs, because this review). We used Step-by-Step for a 1 BR to 1 BR move in March. We had a lot of issues, including furniture damage and a broken washer and incorrect charges. So why is this a five star review? Well, we were recently contacted by Rusty, who we'd not had the chance to work with previously. He profusely apologized for all of the issues, and more importantly, he went above and beyond to make it right. He compensated us for the incorrect charge and the washer repairman we had to call, and fixed our furniture. He explained that he hadn't reached out sooner due to a family death, which was quite understandable. After talking with Rusty and seeing him come out to fix our furniture in our home, it's clear that he really cares about his business and his customers. That's why we wanted to go with a family owned company, and after this, I can say I'm glad we did. We understand that things don't always go smoothly, even with the best planning. But Rusty fixed his team's mistake--that's all I can ask for. I don't feel the need to go into great detail about the issues of our move, but the summary was poor communication and not enough care when handling our belongings. Rusty was upset by his team's behavior, and wanted us to know that he is no longer working with the head mover we had because of our poor experience. Seeing all the other great reviews on here, I can only assume that this was not typical, and perhaps that our team chose to take advantage of Rusty's distraction with family matters and take less care than they should have. Exceptional job and great customer service! I was very concerned about moving my antiques and wanted a moving company that had experience moving and handling antiques. I called Step-by-Step and spoke to Katrina about my concerns. She told me they had experience moving antiques and assured me that my antiques would be well taken care of. She was right! Rusty and his entire team are very well trained, respectful and competent at moving heavy, expensive furniture and belongings. Everyone had a positive attitude and I could tell they love what they do. Rusty and his team wrapped my antiques very delicately and thoroughly. This review is so long overdue. Rusty and Katrina are the absolute best! I called Katrina over the summer for an impending move, however the date I needed was booked. I was instantly impressed by Katrina's thoroughness, professionalism and willingness to help. I was bummed to know I could not have Step-by-Step help me. Fast forward a couple of weeks, our close date was changed and I immediately called Katrina. She was able to get us on the schedule! On July 23, 2019, the day of the move, Rusty and his team were very punctual and courteous. The team explained what I could expect throughout the day and reconfirmed cost. The movers took excellent care of our items and packaged them carefully. They moved our items in a timely manner and you could tell they cared about the job they did. Nothing was flung, bumped and knocked around. Our furniture was wrapped neatly and all things were secured properly on the truck. They took care in everything they did, which mattered to my family. The whole crew was just easy-going and nice. I simply cannot say enough about this group. I have referred a friend who moved a short time after me and will refer anyone to them. I wish that I'd been able to use Step by Step for my cross country move! Such a great experience. The price I was given was MUCH more competitive than the other movers I'd spoken to, and communicating with the owner to set up the move was seamless. Rusty showed up at my storage space right on time, and he and the other mover had everything out of my storage, on the truck and delivered into my apartment (30 minutes away) in literally 2 hours. Shopped around, first using the BBB website, then Yelp. Step by Step came out at or near the top. I hired them and after the experience, I understand why. I had them do the packing. The crew showed up on the front end of the time window. At first, it was 3 guys and after a little while, Katerina (co-owner) showed up and quickly got busy packing. BTW, her husband was one of the other three guys. Packing was complete before the estimated time. The move took place the day after our close on the new house. Again, they showed up on the front end of the window. Katerina had estimated it would take two trips but it ended up taking 3 (we had 160 boxes plus lots of big furniture pieces). Even though the 3rd trip took the crew late into a Saturday night, they never balked at making the 3rd trip. They were all very friendly, professional and careful. These folks are amazing! From beginning the process with Katrina setting up the move to the two guys who worked their rear ends off to pack all of my things into a Pod and still have room. I'm impressed. They did great from communicating the day before, calling before arriving, and getting a game plan that worked smoothly and efficiently. The furniture that I did not have wrapped in plastic already, they took care to make sure any other furniture was wrapped and strapped down appropriately. One of the worst experiences of my life. Took a chunk out of my dining room table. When I showed packers, they immediately said they didn't do it. Hired them to pack, left much to pack claiming they ran out of material, eventhough I paid $1100 for packing. Left many items that should have been moved at the pickup house. Freezer was to be taken to new house but was left in storage. I had cleared through Katrina that some pieces of furniture would need to be moved to accommodate new furniture which was okayed. When it came time to move in items the move leader began using the foulest language. Said he was the one who needed to approve. When trying to move couch in, had to take doors off, leader Q said he's not a m'fin construction worker. Never placed couch. Said couldn't put my bed together and lost all hardware. I had to hire someone to put together bed, dresser (lost hardware) as well as move all furniture left wrapped from foyer, dining room and bedroom. Removed handles from refrigerator, no hardware to put back on. Most egregious was how they ripped water line to refrigerator off causing valve to break and flooding my kitchen and laminate flooring, ruining laminate. The back of the refrigerator was torn open at bottom so wires could be shoved in instead of tied up. Upon speaking with Katrina about the lack of things completed and the intimidation from Q and J constantly cursing and saying they weren't going to follow through with move. I was told I treated the movers poorly because I called Katrina. When I did speak with Katrina, she defended all of the movers actions, attitudes and foul language. I did get 20% off of day 2 charges but did stop check once all damages were discovered. Step by Step moving should train their out of control movers, hire new ones or do the jobs themselves. Great experience and our two guys Lou and Tristan were wonderful. These guys know what they are doing and are efficient. I would have kept them the whole day if I could have! They unloaded two pack rat pods (one which had completely shifted and required Jedi stealth with hulk strength) and built 3 beds all while carrying extremely heavy dressers with ease up to a 2nd story. Whenever I'm insane enough to move again I will be using Step By Step without a doubt. read more

Their prices were competitive with other quotes I received and their customer service exceeded my expectations 10 times over. Rusty and his Team gave a courtesy call prior to their arrival and arrived with a 4 man crew. They did a walk through and quickly got to work. They wrapped my belongings, dismantled my appliances and furniture and carefully brought it all down two flights of stairs into their moving truck. The move started alright, but they ended up damaging some furniture. Rather than admit a single mistake, they insisted that nothing was their fault and to meet in person again to resolve it. I had already spent far too much time dealing with the trouble these movers caused and they wanted to waste even more of it even though I sent multiple pictures of proof. Pros: - They were on time (early, even) - Things got where they needed to be (albeit a little bent...) Cons: - The disassembly was lazy and rushed - The follow-up contact/resolution process was appalling. Though it was a short move we have a lot of stuff accumulated over the years and they were great in packing everything just right.
