I find Stephanie's food to be OK at best. It certainly doesn't compare to the similar places in Newark in terms of food or price. The portions are smaller, more expensive, and just generally bland. If this place was in Ironbound, it would be out of business in weeks. In the area, I prefer Firepit in Kearny or NA. read more

I live in Nutley and it was my first time and last one. I order beef ribs paid $9.63 for a half order , I did not check my order but when arrived home my surprise was that order was for 2 small ribs " thats all" + rice+ beans. C'mon and the ribs were plain no seasoning at all just salt. read more

I don't usually write reviews but could not pass on this one. this was our first time to order from this BBQ place, and one time too many... the portions were big, seems like they're trying to compensate quality with quantity, given the portion size the have a lot to compensate on. there is a lot of vegetables, big leaves of boiled cabbage with no seasoning whats so ever, salt?. I can't say that ribs were dry, it will be understatement, they were burnt and tasteless. the chicken was dry but ok. giving 2 stars instead of 1 in hope that this was just bad day for them, but won't order again. read more

Holy wow. Delivery was super fast. This place is good if you're looking for quick, easy, and good food. After reading some of the reviews, I think people expect 5 star gourmet everywhere! BBQ. what does that usually mean to people in the North East? For me it means preparing the ribs and steak with a few seasonings, letting them sit for a while so the flavors can sink into the meat, then firing up the metal beast that I call my grill. Once you have this down you plop the meat on the grill then cook and watch the flames lick and dance around your fatty pieces of goodness. Oh yes, I said fatty and who doesn't want a perfect ration of fat and meant on their meat. Now they are done the beef juicy and maybe still mooing if you prefer. The ribs are at the point where the meat wants to fall off but they still need your teeth to help with that process. Come on! This is BBQ and what you would expect. Well at Stephanie's Diner and BBQ that is what I got exactly. Of course I wasn't manning their grill or was witness to the fat dance I mentioned above but once I bit into the pork and beef ribs I got this overwhelming feeling that I forgot to shut off my propanes tank for the night. They were juicy and delicious. The chorizo appetizer was a monster in size and charred just right. Did I mention it was delivered to my house in about 25 minutes and the aluminum tray was hot and the steam rises into my nostrils as I opened up the tray. I would say this is worth a try and if they get it like they got my order you will not regret it. read more

Deplorable food. I ordered salmon with fries and rice as a carry out order. The fries were soggy, the rice was your average minute rice and the salmon...my goodness...the salmon. In my very first bite I pulled four bones out of my mouth. On my third bite, I pulled out another bone. I looked at the rest of the inedible sorry excuse for an entree and was able to pull out a piece of the salmon's vertabrae that was about the size of a dime. I called the manager at the Nutley location to complain. I am not even sure the person who claimed they were the manager was in fact the actual manager. When I explained my situation, the "manager" advised me that thats how they sell their salmon and everyone buys it like that. I told her that fish is usually filet-ed in a way that removes the bones. The "manager" simply did not care. I will never eat food from this place again and would only recommend this place to people I highly dislike. read more

Food is okay. We ordered delivery countless times until our "full tray" of ribs was two ribs and at least two pounds of rice and fries. We called to complain and they could care less. Luckily, we have been getting menus in the mail for new portugese places in Belleville and Newark. read more

Put simply, I've had better BBQ at Memorial Day celebrations at my friend's house. My wife and I got the large chicken and ribs combo with rice and fries, plus an order of flan and potato salad. The ribs were tough and the chicken was salty. Both were overcooked. The rice was bland and the fries were soggy. The flan was burnt. The only saving grace was the more than decent potato salad. read more

well my first time ordering from this place have have to say ....intresting... the menu is nice, a little pricey but I know why there portions are big... but let's talk quality shall we.. I got the shrimp in garlic sauce with steamed veg and potatoes, food was cooked good and tasted.... well ok. there was NO seasoning on my food what so ever... sad... so sad.. the shrimp was good with the sauce. but salt , pepper , garlic powder , always makes it better.. but .my mom had a t-bone cooked to perfection but sadly that doesn't make up for no seasoning , but the chocolate mosse is very good.. read more

Wow wow wow!!! I have lived in Nutley forever and I ate here a few months ago for the first time. I love the food! My husband always orders the skirt steak and I am in love with the chicken breast in garlic. The food is great, the waitresses are great, the entire place is fantastic! I must say I come here often. But that's because I don't feel like driving to the Ironbound in Newark to get some lunch/dinner. I've had a lot of mix ups with my orders and even been given cold food a few times!! Which led me to write this review in hope of better service and staff. When I call to place an order, the woman's accent is very heavy and it seems as though I am speaking to an automated machine. I've gotten delivery which has been good for the most part but can take 45 min and I live in Nutley! I even had the wrong order delivered to me and had to wait for him to come back with the correct order only for him to drop it in front of my house!!!! Which I had to clean up and mind you, I was starving!!! There used to be an older woman that never messed up my orders, but now there's a younger one that always does!!! And she always seems like she doesn't want to be bothered. We all have our off days, but she's consistently screwing up my orders. Bottom line is, good food at a great price, but the service and staff needs a complete makeover!!!! read more
