I have only been here for breakfast and as some of my closest friends know, breakfast is pretty much my religion. I visit family in Bath often, but Bath has only a few options for diner-esque, family-friendly, sit-down restaurants. At Stephanie's, they are all of the above. The dining room is on the smaller side, but I have never waited super long for service or been disappointed in the quality of service here. They are so nice and attentive! They have a great menu with everything you would expect to get for a classic diner breakfast or brunch. I always get a cheese omelette, wheat toast, and a side of homefries. The prices are fair, not as cheap as say Denny's would be, but Stephanie's has the convenience of being close to home and one of the only places with a dining room. We decided to have breakfast on a Sunday at this popular restaurant while vacationing in nearby Hammondsport. Though we were immediately seated and provided menus, it took a full 35 minutes between ordering and being served. My better and wiser half chose a short order of pancakes with whipped cream and an abundance of fresh strawberries. I went with the Best Seller - easy over eggs, toast and corned beef hash. I initially thought it was a joke that the menu listed a choice of housemade or canned hash. Choosing the former proved to be a monumental mistake on my part as the hash had the consistency of jerky after having spent too much time on the grill prior to being served. I suggest that you take the advice of The Animals -"Oh mother, tell your children not to do what I have done". The rating for my meal should 2 stars, my wife's 3. read more

I stopped in here with my wife because we were in the area . This is a nice local diner. We arrive during lunch our and there were a few open tables. The waitress was friendly. My wife ordered a Ruben and I ordered a ham melt, we didn't wait long even with a pretty busy crowd. Inside was quant and not too noisy. Food was good and French fries were hot and crispy. read more

Let me start by saying, the stars do not reflect the service or the food. We were greeted quickly and the waitress told us right away that the kitchen was getting caught up so it might be a wait for our food. We completely understood and ordered our food. Heather made great recommendations, the fresh sausage was great! Heather was busting her tail, apologizing to everyone. She deserves 5 stars However, the kitchen apparently had a cook walk out in the morning. They got extra help in, but the man in the kitchen was treating his waitresses like crap and everyone in the restaurant could hear everything. I added a biscuit to my order and when she asked for it, he said, "Is it just for you to eat?" So inappropriate. Told to sit anywhere, but 2 groups of 4 came in after our party of 2 and both were attended to first. Back again for a second time. Today the restaurant was "packed" and the service was still great. Additionally, the food was still great.

Average small town diner. Good if you need a quick, less expensive, comfort food type meal. Nothing fancy and not a lot of fresh, local ingredients. No frills but it has the typical breakfast, lunch and diner menu items for a town diner. Their homemade corned beef hash was disappointing as it was hash browns with a few shreds of corned beef. No flavor and hardly any corned beef. Staff was not rude at all but not very friendly. It was good for a quick bite to eat but I will not return here on my next trip to the Finger Lakes region with so many other amazing restaurants in the area. read more

The menu is small and the hours are unconventional (closing at 7 PM on many days, opening at 4:30 AM on others) so be sure to check them before venturing over. I was pleasantly surprised by a recent meal here. The restaurant is small and very "hometown" but it was fun to eavesdrop on the conversations. Part of the charm of this place is the friendly, welcoming atmosphere where everybody "knows your name." I ordered the mushroom cheese burger. The patty was tender and tasty - perfectly cooked. The fries were fresh and crispy. The hub had breakfast with a side of homemade hash that looked like a combination of corned beef and hashbrowns. Yum. The thing to be clear about here is that Stephanie's is a small town diner serving typical diner comfort foods. Do not come here if you are expecting something different, watching calories or sodium, or meat and heavily fried food makes you queasy. Otherwise, this is a great place to have a satisfying breakfast or a lunch. Portions are generous, and the girls that work the floor take good care of everyone. There is no 'small plate' nonsense. A previous reviewer's comment aside, there is a children's section to the menu--and they will split orders between guests. Western NY has a fascination with various "garbage plate" concoctions. These consist of all sorts of things cobbled together on one plate or in a large bowl. For hearty appetites (or two) is the Breakfast Bowl (a variety of garbage plate). It consists of fried potatoes, eggs, meat, maybe a biscuit, and sausage gravy. And Stephanie's has got the sausage gravy figured out! Come on in, sit a while, and slow down.
