I stopped here Saturday morning with my wife. The diner is very clean and has ample parking. It was not too busy and quiet inside. The sign said seat yourself so we sat at a table near the window. We were greeted by a friendly waitress and had hot coffee delivered promptly. My wife ordered the potato pancakes that were made with real potato (not mix). I ordered the country style eggs. The corned beef hash was tasty and cooked to my liking, but it definitely not made from scratch. Finally the country classic which was Scrambled eggs, mixed together with onions and home fries, and served with Toast - while it looked good, it had to be returned due to a mix up in the order. I will say that even through the order was messed up (multiple times), the waitresses were super kind and apologetic; and even offered to take care of the bill which was above an beyond in my book. My wife and I stopped in for breakfast following a Dr. Appt. Neither of us had ever been here before but have heard nothing but good things. This place is a true treasure to the neighborhood. Dessert came out first, while we had to remind her of our soup orders after everything else was already out. The soup was OK, other than big pieces of hard, inedible bay leaves in it. The salad had iceberg lettuce and onion in it with store dressing, very forgettable. The sandwich we ordered was bland, was supposed to come toasted and with dressing, was lacking both. For $17 we had a triple decker turkey club with homemade Mac salad (delish!), an egg and olive sandwich with what we call "bucket slaw," and a cup of beef and barley soup. The highlight for me was the beef and barley-- the house soup, it was chunky, savory goodness. The sandwich portions were plentiful. We weren't expecting much from this little place, but they provided a perfectly good, satisfying lunch for cheap while we were on the road. Nice, clean bathrooms too! It's a diner, it's a cafe, the food seems to be mostly homemade and good. Service was fast and attentive. We stopped on a Friday afternoon after 1 p.m. and they were fairly busy. They had a specials board and we ordered the seafood bisque and the fish sandwich's from the board. Portions were good and the soup and sandwich were yummy. We would definitely go back again.
