I love supporting small businesses, especially on Coronado, but unfortunately, I can't recommend this one. They scheduled my appointment for the wrong day, and when I arrived, there was no apology or acknowledgment of the mistake. I had specifically taken time off work for this appointment, so the error was especially frustrating. Their office hours are limited, with half days most of the week, and there is rarely--if ever--a doctor on-site. Communication is poor, and their selection of eyewear is quite small. I stopped by this location while I was visiting San Diego, I was having issues with dryness and discomfort. Luckily I was able to be seen as a walk-in. Dr. Moffett and his staff are amazing! Not only did I received the most thorough eye exam, but their office staff, equipment, and attention is top tier. I was educated on the issue that was causing my dryness and offered different solutions to help address my dryness. I will definitely return to this clinic next time I am in town to do another dry eye treatment. I have never had such bad customer service from a doctor. I went in for an appointment in July for dry eyes. The doctor had me come back two more times even though we discussed tear duct plugs in my frier appt, so I went back twice just for the doctor and office to forget why I was there and tell me they didn't have the plugs. I then proceeded to try and book a third appt to go in for plugs and it is January and they still have not gotten back to me. I will never return to this practice for anything. They misprinted my prescription wrong and when I returned for them to correct it, they charged d me $65 to re-examine my eyes to issue a new prescription. Someone there admitted it was a " typo" on the original prescription. Not a good way for a local business to treat a multi year local customer. No stars. read more

If you find yourself planning to make an appointment with this practice, just know these two things... *If the front office staff seems inefficient or confused, it's likely that they're new. The turnover for this location is INSANE, primarily because the owner has a history of hiring + firing employees every few weeks (or just whenever he pleases.) He makes no effort to provide training, and often throws his employees into positions which they have little to no knowledge of/experience in. His employees are treated very poorly and are likely doing their best - please be patient with them! *The owner is a very knowledgeable doctor, who has been in the business a very long time. However, his professional facade will disappear the moment you show intent to buy glasses or contacts elsewhere. If you are not interested in making a purchase of any kind, the quality of interest he has in you as a patient decreases immensely. He will also recommend the most expensive lens upgrades off the bat - but trust that there are much more affordable options! Also, maybe try scheduling an appointment with one of the doctors who works Mondays or Fridays - they're much more patient-oriented, and less focused on themselves or the money you'll bring in! read more

I am not sure why I drove an hour to this place only to find that they don't offer the same benefits that they did a year prior in regards to contact lens. At this point, I feel like they are just trying to make a profit off of their customers. I really miss Dr Hutchinson, as he used to truly care about his patients. I've been using this eye care practice around 17 years, longer than any of their eye doctors have been practicing there. When Dr. Easton retired, I thought, oh-oh, there goes a great practice. But, Dr.Moffett (the "new eye-guy") was excellent, so we've remained with this practice. Recently, I made an appointment and I had some issues I was hoping to discuss with Dr. Moffett. I was surprised to see other names on the practice, and was concerned at first; I needed to see an experienced eye doctor, not a newbee. But I saw Dr. Lavin, an eye doc with years of experience. He took my concerns seriously, did a thorough examine, and found the solution to my particular issue. Very happy with the quality of care I received, so this is still my go-to place for eye care. Staff: I've always had a good experience with all of their staff. Friendly and patient (it can't be fun to wait while we clients try on 20+ pair glasses and ask, "how do these look?"). Product: although I always wish they had more frames, there's only so much space. But I do appreciate that prices for each are on the frame. I buy one pair from them when my insurance chips in, then buy my second pair from Costco. I also drop in whenever I need my frames tightened, and they're very accommodating. Extra services: my hubby gets irritated with extra charges, such as the $39 3D eye scan. But they tell you it's optional before they do it, so you can opt out. Since I've got a family member with glaucoma, I choose to have mine done about every other year. (Probably will increase that if/when I show signs of the disease). No pressure from the staff. read more

I had ordered prescription sun glasses on 7/17/20 and have yet to receive them. They cost me more than $1400 and I paid promptly. Of course they cashed my check but every time I call them for an update I'm given various excuses (including how things have got delayed because of Covid). I asked them for a refund but they declined stating the lenses have already been made. I'm so fed up and feel so trapped and helpless. Will not be doing business with them in the future. read more

A++ Service!! I've been here several times now and this office is THE BEST! I've gone for myself and I've taken my young daughter (who has autism). All of the staff is wonderful and patient. I was AMAZED Dr. Moffett was able to get my daughter to follow directions to get checked and was able to put the drops into get her eyes dilated. If it wasn't for him- I wouldn't know that my daughter is a bit farsighted and needs glasses to read. I will be a forever patient here as long as we live in the area! The new location is clean, with updated equipment and a great selection of frames. The staff is very kind and helpful - easy to schedule appts and helpful in explaining coverage and helping pick out frames. Dr. Moffit took over Dr. Kohlers practice. Having just returned to Coronado for a visit, with an eye infection, I called for an appointment. I explained why I needed to be seen. They never told me Dr. Kohler was no longer there. They insisted I have a complete eye exam.. as in for new glasses. Several hundred$$$ later, he tells me he's an optometrist and not an opthomoogist so he can't prescribe antibiotics for my eye. They did try to sell me new glasses. I've now moved back permanently and his office has called and messaged me that I had an appointment scheduled.I never scheduled another appointment and yet they had a date and time all set up. I have been going to Dr Moffit for 3 years. Before I saw Dr John Koehler . He retired and suggested we go and see Dr Moffit. I am so disappointed in the service and the professionalism of the team in the office. My lens are 721$$ I had 2 pairs done it took 3 weeks to getback. They met me in the parking lot and handed them to me. No cases just in a plastic bag. Then I took 3 older prs of glass frames to have new lenses put in them. They took 3 weeks to get back I asked when I left them to change out the nose pads & put new ones on. The girl said ok but now they can't do it! I bought the frames there last year. Why did they not tell me before the prescription was put in? Poor service and girls that are not trained in lens and optical care. I realize that these times are trying but really, a soft case costs them probably 2$ but they can't put glasses in them to help keep them from scratching! I will find a new optical company to do business with! Interesting, never had a problem with Dr Koehler and I went to him for 16 years. read more

I was visiting Coronado island for the weekend, escaping cold Chicago, only to realize while on the el to O'hare that I left my contacts at home. I usually wear glasses, but who wants to spend pool/ocean/hiking time in glasses?!?! I called one optometry practice in San Diego, but they wouldn't help me out. I called Coronado Eye Care, and they had my -7.0 contacts in stock and accepted my faxed, current script (from the awesome Dr Black in Naperville, IL at Couture Vision) and was able to hook me up for my vacation! I ran in at 4:55 (they close at 5), and even though I'm sure everyone was ready for the evening to begin, all were incredibly pleasant, friendly, welcomed me and had the contacts waiting. Made an appt, went in, was seen with virtually no wait time and i was taken care of. Walked out of there with a new pair of glasses at virtually no cost to myself (thanks to my insurance).
