They didn't offer to help transfer the line to the optician or let me know when the optician was available. Another two weeks flew by with zero communication and once again, I reached out to the business and again, the receptionist was short with me. I was able to get in contact with the optician and the explanation for why my glasses weren't ready was that my frames must have gotten lost somewhere... they offered me new frames and lenses free of charge to compensate for the long wait and losing my frames. I thought the gesture was nice, but it doesn't excuse that they lost my frames that I purchased elsewhere.

Friendly tech took me back. Then I met with Dr. Lawson. She was kind & thorough. She explained everything so well and patiently answered any questions I had no matter how silly or small. I never felt rushed. Time to get glasses. Dr Lawson walked me out asked about my style and when I said I wanted to stay within my insurance allowance for frames she said no problem. She grabbed a bunch of frames and gave them to Jessica who picked out more frames. Both Jessica and Dr Lawson looked at the frames I was trying on giving me honest feedback. They were clear about what looked good what didn't and why. I trusted their opinion when they both agreed on a pair. 2 weeks later I picked up my glasses I loved them. They adjusted them gave a case mirco fiber clothes and a cleaning spray. Later when I noticed they pinched a bit, I walked unannounced they helped right away! I've told all my friends to go here for their next exam! I love them!

Not all glasses stores are the same...and I'll prove it:…read more I have very bad astigmatism in my right eye (+7.25) and have been using the higher quality progressive lenses for my frames. About four years ago, my glasses were getting so worn out, so I opted to get all-new specs. I have a good friend who is an optician, and he always does my measurements and creates my prescriptions for me. I brought my current prescription to the LensCrafters at Northgate Mall (or what's left of it), who promised me their lab could handle my heavy astigmatism. So I picked out a new frame and placed the order. Then they informed me I could get a second pair for 50% off, and I had been wanting to get prescription sunglasses anyways, so I opted to do the promotional offer for those glasses. I left the store feeling good that I had finally paid some attention to getting better eyesight. However, the result was horrific. First off, the lenses they gave me started to scratch up like crazy after the first month, despite my meticulous efforts to use only glasses-approved cleaning solution and microfiber cloth wipes to clean them. I mean, I was religious about it because I didn't want to scratch my beautiful new lenses. Turns out that didn't matter...they continued to get scratched up at a very fast pace. Secondly, they never produced my sunglasses. When I went in to pick up my regular glasses, they told me the sunglasses would take a little longer, which was fine with me. Two months later I called them wondering where my new sunglasses were. They told me the order had been cancelled. When I asked why, they couldn't produce a clear answer. They told me they would "look into it" and would let me know what they found out. They never, ever returned any of my calls, texts, or emails. I had to go back into the store a third time and demanded to know what was going on with my sunglasses order. They again told me the order was cancelled without any explanation as to why. They did not give me any option for honoring their promotional offer, which was the entire reason I decided to get the sunglasses in the first place. It was so infuriating, disrespectful, and negligent. Eventually, they reluctantly refunded my money, and I told them they had lost a customer for life. I was left searching for a new resource for my eye care that wouldn't treat me like a commercial pawn or just another consumer to scam. I live in Shoreline, so I took a chance and gave a call to Shoreline Eyecare. They were very understanding of my predicament and suggested I come in so they could see the glasses, my prescription, and give me their overall assessment of what would be a good next step for me to take. I immediately felt like someone actually gave a shit about my eyesight...which was very refreshing given the hellish experience at LensCrafters. My experience got even better after my first visit. I was offered a free check-up to verify the accuracy of my prescription, and then I met with a nice employee named Ally to review lens options for my existing frames (I wanted to keep the frames). When I showed her the glasses I got from LensCrafters, she looked them over for about twenty seconds and said my lenses were very likely defects because of the nature of the scratches and the fact they were so bad after a short period of time. As my blood boiled about being taken for a ride by yet another consumer-preying corporate entity such as LensCrafters, my conscience was slowly being convinced I had come to the right place at Shoreline Eyecare. It was exceptionally clear to me that Ally was thinking and acting upon my best interests. As she made suggestions, she checked the system to see if my insurance gave my discounted or covered options, she shared alternatives, showed me the supply line items for total transparency, and just made me feel like she was now my eyesight partner, as opposed to someone trying to sell me new glasses. When I decided to pull the trigger on the new lenses, I also decided to get the sunglasses as well since this seemed like a place that would be able to fulfill such a request. Ally informed me that, based on my insurance policy, it would behoove me to wait until after the new year because, at that point, she could apply a vision discounting to my order and save me close to $200! So I chose to do that for my regular glasses and went ahead with the sunglass order in the meantime. Ally helped me get the new lenses for my glasses ordered, they fit perfectly, and I'm now enjoying amazingly sharp and clear eyesight. Even being out of network for my insurance couldn't keep my business away. If you want real help for your eyesight, make sure you go to Shoreline Eyecare.

In December, I was told the glasses had finally shipped, only to be informed later that UPS had "lost" the shipment -- including the frames I personally paid for. Because of this, I had to return yet again for another fitting about three weeks ago. I was assured the new glasses would be shipped directly to my home. Unsurprisingly, they never arrived. When I called last week, I was told there was an issue with their lab and that the glasses would be shipped as soon as possible. When I called again yesterday, I was told they were still at the lab but completed and would be shipped. At that point, I asked to speak with a manager. A staff member told me a manager would call me back, but I never received a call. This has been months of delays, poor communication, repeated mistakes, and zero accountability. If you value your time, money, and sanity, save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere.

This shop is run by incompetence. I went in as a first time customer with high hopes but mostly because it was the closest shop listen by my insurance. I need glasses to distance and, thanks to the wonderful process of aging, also to read. Unfortunately I can't tolerate the mushroomy experience that multifocal lenses provide. I made that clear to both the doctor and the technician. They still up-sold me on "this new technology" that is going to work for me. I asked what they would do if the lenses didn't work for me. They reassure me that they would make it right. After a couple of weeks I got the glasses. I couldn't even leave the shop with them. Nothing was on focus. A different tech apologized and politely re-took the ocular measures noticing that they were wrongly measured and that, to make things worse the lens shop made a mistake as well. I waited another couple of weeks for the new lenses. Much better but still off center. I used the glasses for two weeks as they recommended and I decided that I could not deal with the fishbowl effect. For me it's mostly everything is out of focus and I have to search the sweet spot constantly. I felt noseous every day. They took the glasses in and ordered regular lenses. Once I got those back, I was expecting to get a refund for the difference. Multifocal are closer to 500 dollars and single focus are more like 200. They refused to make up for the difference. They refused to discuss it with me and referred me to a manager. I called the manager 3 time before getting a text message back say they they were busy. Finally today they emailed me refusing the refund. Wait, you are too busy to call me but you have the time to write me a long email to refuse the refund? Is this something they do on a daily basis? Do they have a template for this reply? Why is the manager so busy with these tasks? She had the time to reply to my second email and the third but she didn't have the time to call me? Do they use AI for these communications? How often do they deny refunds?! Is this pure incompetence or a business strategy? Be weary of this establishment they are more skilled at denying customers then they are at making glasses. Funny that they prefer to steal a couple hundred bucks rather then acquire a new loyal customer. If you need glasses, you'll need glasses for the rest of your life. They have the opportunity to make up for their mistakes 10 fold over the years. Especially in a city like Seattle were we love supporting local businesses. Final note, they have a very limited selection of frames and most of them are outdated and out of style. I provided my own. I also think it is weird they charge a mandatory out of pocket fee for some eye test other doctors don't do and insurance doesn't cover. It was about a $100 extra I think? I paid because I was in a rush with my insurance changing but sort of feels like a money grab. I know operating a business is expensive but I wouldn't have gone if I had known ahead of time. The scheduling system didn't get my appointment through the first time and I showed up and immediately had to reschedule. The second time I went in the doctor was sick and I had to reschedule when I showed up after walking there. The third time, I had to do reschedule a contacts fitting because no one told me to bring in my old contacts when I wanted new ones. Hopefully they have improved. Straightforward pricing and better communication overall for treatment and scheduling is important.

When I contacted the office to report the problem, they asked me to come back for a second exam. I did, hoping for a better outcome. A second pair of glasses was made with the new prescription, but that also failed to meet my needs. In 15 years of wearing bifocals, I have never experienced this with any other eye care provider. The entire process was time-consuming, frustrating, and ultimately left me without functional glasses -- twice. I cannot recommend this practice for anyone with specific or complex prescription needs, and I will not be returning for future eye care.
