I went to my first visit to Stephen Stein's DDS office today. I am relatively new to the area and needed to find a dentist for a tooth that was sensitive. I was glad to see the office had a parking lot and was ADA accessible. Not that I am in a wheelchair but I definitely did not want to climb any stairs to get there because of an arthritic hip I've been dealing with so I was happy about the location! I was greeted by his staff who were friendly and welcoming. I also loved the hawaiian scenic art on the walls. I had my x-rays done then was seen by Dr. Stein who I found to be affable and professional! He had adjusted my bite on one side to see if that would alleviate the inflammation I was having and was very detailed when explaining my x-rays he brought up on the big screen monitor. He drew up a plan of action that I am on board with and feel I made a good choice in Dr. Stein as my new dentist! read more

Hey I have been going to Dr Stein for a few years now, and as much as we all don't like the dentist he has made it somewhat enjoyable is the best way to say it. I know when I leave there, I'm going to feel better, I'm going to get good information and they have been amazing every time I go. From x-rays to cleaning to my emergency visit today I texted them at 4:00 in the morning telling them I have a horrific toothache. They called me as soon as they got in I was able to be seen in the morning. He helped get my tooth prepped for a root canal going forward, helping my pain level tremendously. The place is always very clean, his staff is always well presented both physically and professionally. I feel like I'm visiting an old friend. That says a lot for the dentist. When I first went I needed my boyfriend to go with me due to severe anxiety. They all were very nice and understanding and now I can go by myself. Im 53 so yeah, big enough to go alone. Honestly from the moment I called them, through my greeting in the office, through the ease of dealing with my insurance, to the absolute amazing visit I had - this office is hands-down the best dentist I have ever been to from the East Coast to the West Coast. Dr Stein and all his staff are simply amazing! My son is a patient here and after I took him to his last appt I became a patient myself. I haven't been to a dentist in years, and the last experience I had was awful and traumatized me so there was a lot going on with me, and a medi-cal dentist totally destroyed one of my front teeth so it was important to get it fixed asap! Dr Stein was so welcoming and comforting (dentist trips give me bad anxiety) and of course, he worked hard and totally fixed my tooth and now it looks perfect! I thought it was beyond repair it was so bad but Dr Stein is a miracle worker! He also answered all my questions and informed me of some things about my dental health in detail that I didn't even know I needed to address. He is fun to talk to and makes u feel like family. Saw Dr Stein to address a veneer that had fallen off. This is after coming from another dentist who did minimal prepping (and it falling off again within a couple hours). I'm glad I turned to Dr Stein - he took a significant amount of time prepping & etching. Its been several weeks and the veneer is holding strong. He also addressed soreness on another tooth by modifying a night guard. Staff has been great dealing with insurance, and COVID 19 precautions abound. read more

I have been going to Dr. Stein since he first began his practice and I would never go anywhere else. He and his staff are amazing.

We had never seen Dr. Stein, and had no dental insurance, but even so, when we called his office with a minor dental emergency my wife had, despite being fully booked, they still generously offered to squeeze us in that same day. When we arrived, the receptionist quickly checked us in, and a dental technician (sorry, I don't remember her name!) efficiently took a radiograph of the problem tooth. Then Dr. Stein consulted with us, showed us the problem root on the radiograph, and gave us options for treating it. We went home much relieved and started antibiotics which fixed the problem, at least for now. Best of all, Dr. Stein didn't even charge us for his time, just for the radiograph, which was surprisingly inexpensive! We will always go to Dr. Stein for our dental needs in the future, and highly recommend him and his professional staff to everyone. read more

Needed a Dentist with fair pricing, as I am " self-insured." Two friends referred my to Dr. Steve. First visit was a breeze. Staff was welcoming ; office was very clean and organized and the chair experience was great. Dr Steve, a UCSF graduate, performed a digital glandular cancer exam and hyper-tension ( blood pressure cuff ) exam -- before I opened my mouth. Very thorough and professional bearing. I also appreciated the fact that HE performs the first cleaning for new patients and made an easy to understand evaluation of my oral health. Great practice and caring attention. The paint job in the building ( Military light green ), transported me back to my " Air Forces Europe, Flight Operations building. " Yet, the practice is easy to locate with great free parking -- unlike my previous San Francisco dentist. read more

Dr. Stein is the best dentist I've ever had. I had a bad experience with a filling in the past that lead ultimately to the loss of a tooth. I didn't realize how anxious it had made me about dentists until I was in Dr. Stein's chair. My experience with his has been different in every way. He is incredibly gentle and takes as much care as he can to keep you from feeling pain, even with a needle in your gums. He listens and takes all concerns seriously without ever being dismissive. He also explains everything. There's never a "oh, that just happens sometimes," with him. He explains how, why, and gives you a heads up if there's a possibility you may feel something weird or unpleasant. If you have anxiety about dental work, or feel self-conscious about the state of your teeth, he is the perfect dentist.
