Christy's Donuts has been a staple for me. I used to pick up donuts for my classroom a couple times a year. My 90+ year old father would eat one chocolate old-fashioned every morning. We did freeze some, but frequent trips there fostered a friendship with the owners and workers. Best donuts. Best people. i cried a little when I saw the shop's windows covered. We stopped here on a whim, just saw it on our way to Dutch bros. (So we didn't read reviews) I'm not sure what was wrong with our donuts but we purchased 4 total. 2 chocolate, an apple fritter and a maple bar. I don't know what we tasted but they tasted almost rotten, or like chemicals. My partner immediately threw up. Nothing is getting this nasty taste out of our mouths. These people were given a gift. My friends and I have been here 4 times and it keeps getting better -- Easily worth the 20 minute drive. I would give them 6 stars if I could. Extremely fluffy and fresh donuts no matter what time of day you go. Not to mention dirt cheap. I wanted to take a gamble on the random day old box, and was surprised with a box of roughly 20 donuts with almost every kind you could ask for. I wanted to like this place. My husband use to come here when he was a kid and spoke highly of Christy's. Unfortunately right when I ate a glazed donut, I could taste what seemed to be plastic. I tried the chocolate donut, assuming it was just the glazed and unfortunately, the chocolate donut also tasted of plastic. I instantly wanted to vomit. The lady up front also seemed annoyed with us. There's a ton of options so we were taking our time (I'm exaggerating on taking our time. We immediately started ordering as we entered) & right when we had already ordered 4 donuts, she goes " ok. Do you have half a dozen or 12? The cinnamon doesn't count with your 4. What do you want. " I couldn't process quickly enough, to answer so she again, repeated herself, since this came out of nowhere. So I answered "6". I'm not about to order 12, knowing I've never been here. The last 2, were just chocolate, since it seemed like she wanted us out. When we paid, she held onto our card until it processed thru. I absolutely felt immediately uncomfortable and concerned. It's been over 20 years since I've come to this shop. The most important thing is the donuts (obviously) and sadly I was very disappointed. I didn't think they were good at all. I'm giving 3 stars because my mom thought they were fine, they had a great selection (especially for 2pm on a Saturday), service was fast and friendly, they have their own parking lot, it was very convenient to get in and out and they accept credit cards with a $5 minimum. It looked like it could use a deep clean and they had a good number of tables and chairs but they were all staked up so you couldn't sit if you wanted too. Seemed to me like maybe they don't want to make it too comfortable which makes sense to me considering the area and that only two people were working. I'll for sure not be back but I do think they have some things going for them and they're still around after decades so they must be doing just fine. read more

I've been coming here since moving to East County 10 years ago and I think my husband's come here since he was a kid. Family owned and operated, donuts are consistently fresh and delicious. I come in almost every weekend to pick up a couple treats to bring to my parents and my dad without a doubt likes the apple fritters from here better than any other place. The two women working the counter are friendly and fast, welcoming the customers who at least on Sunday mornings look like a crowd of regulars. Completely rude. We purchased merchandise. The owner kicked us out of the shop at 1pm letting us know that she needed to clean the floor even though they close at 9pm. So far so good here. I need to taste more before putting out that additional start.... The ham and cheese croissant was delicious. Despite the ham being rolled up and cheese around that I actually like the extra room it provided for that nice and flavorful buttery croissant. Just wish it had jalapeños!!! The lady behind the counter was super nice and friendly. She answered my questions and gave great recommendations like trying the rolled sweet tortillas, I had never seen them before and will try another time. We stopped by Christy's for the first time because it was national donut day. We've had these donuts before as friends have bought them but this was our first time coming in to the store and getting a donut. I absolutely love cake donuts and prefer them over stuff like Krispy Kreme so this was right up my alley. It was late in the day, about 6:30 PM. Christys is open 24 hours according to Google but when I've had donuts from here in the morning they have been much better. And that makes sense of course. Even so, I'd have preferred a Dunkin, but this was convenient and in my neighborhood. It was a good donut. Don't get me wrong. I'd probably grab another at some point. But it's not a to die for, must come every day sort of thing for me. I've just had better donuts from other small shops. The prices are fantastic though. Can't beat 3 donuts for $2 read more
