Really sad to hear these guys will be closing. Got two different car alarms here and just really love the family-like vibe. Shout out to Dutton especially. Last time I went in there with a quick question, he was the only one there and within a minute we were discussing complex worldly issues, personal challenges and the meaning of life. We even discussed an otherwise sticky topic (I won't say who's the anti-vaxxer and who's the pro-vaxxer lol), but he was extremely open minded and said he would speak with someone close to him who knew more about the issue then he did. Highly unusual in my experience, particularly with that subject matter. Beyond that, my old Saab took a lot longer than they anticipated to install the alarm (heard this from Car Toys as well years ago when I brought my first Saab there for an alarm), yet Dutton did not charge any extra on top of his original quote. Had this shop installed an Android Head unit along with Back up Camera. Initially told 1 day install and about $300 installation fee altogether. Day 1: They could not finish in a day. Frustrating but understandable. Second visit: Had to have the camera installed on a different day and pay extra $200~ on top of the $300~ that I paid just for the screen installation. About 8 months later, the back up camera was malfunctioning. Initially told that they would have a look if we bring the car to the shop. My sister brought the car to the shop using her half day PTO, where she felt ignored and womanized; they checked the the dashcam which has nothing to with this installation when she clearly mentioned it was the back up camera that was acting up. I had to drive up to the shop and asked again to troubleshoot. Mr. Dutton and the installer refused to check it on the spot and asked to scheduled an appointment. It turns out that one of the power cable to the camera was disconnected and fall out of the sleeve due to not being crimped properly. Also noticed they have stripped my plastic interior bolt during the installation which now has to be replaced. I will never do business with this establishment again. If you would like to support a local mom and pop shop with mediocre to sub par customer service, this is it. If you are not sure about it after reading this review, go on Yelp and see what people had to say. Check google review comment from the owner. I was having constant stereo problems since paying Stereo Warehouse over 1600.00 for a basic installation that reused one of my existing amplifiers. I had a real professional look at the car and we ended up having to pretty much gut the whole car to get to the bottom of the issue. I was also having problems with the car not holding a charge. NO EXCUSE FOR USING DUCT TAPE TO ROUTE WIRING - The owner thinks anyone who complains is wrong - He is delusional if he thinks its okay to use duct tape to secure wires!! We found the problem!! Take a look at the pictures - THIS WAS THE HANDIWORK OF STEREO WAREHOUSE - i will be filing court papers as soon as Covid is over. I had a car stereo I owned and brought it in for them to install. I asked them to install the radio and fix the microphone and install a back up camera. Using this shop was a HUGE mistake. They placed my factory radio in the trunk of the car and didn't secure it probably so it bounces around and it will get damaged over time by moisture and then I won't have a radio. They also took out my factory amp and when I asked them to return it to it's factory location they never did. They also cut the wires to my factory subwoofer. I don't know why you would do that. On top of that they didn't even cover the wire with shrink wrap or electrical tape so it will short out when they touch each other. So they never fixed the microphone I asked them too they just moved it in to a new location and. Never tested it to ensure it works. They never fixed the radio it still shuts off and makes high pitched noises and goes blank for no reason. The wires behind the dash were spaghetti and just a complete mess they didn't even use Tessa tape to clean it up. Left my back seat not properly installed with wires hanging out. Now for some meat. They called me in the middle of the install to tell me my front speakers were blown. They never provided proof or showed me the destroyed speakers. I asked them if there was any problem with the type R's? They also explained to me they were ordering a part and I would " retain all factory controls". They installed $299 with a $120 fee to install, but never told me there was a fee to install them and the price of the speakers and the were supposed to be 6*9's not 6.5's. Never called me to verify. At the end of the day I returned to get my car and it was a HUGE amount and they guy selling me equipment is no where to be found. After explaining to them multiple times I wasn't paying for something I didn't approve, was never told about and they didn't show me the "damaged" ones even after asking. I got sick of going no where and they still were awaiting more parts for the car so I had to come back. I told them we will work on this bill when you fix my car completely. I left after because there was no point in staying they still had work to do they wouldn't listen to me they just told me to call the owner and it would take a week to get the parts. They called me and told me they were calling the police for non payment, but they hadn't finished the job. I couldn't answer my phone because I was driving and I had no hands free which they were told to fix and didn't nor did they make sure it did work before it left their shop. Before I got home my radio made an odd noise and then shut off after 10 seconds. Then later I got voicemails proving they never knew what type R's I wanted placed in they car and they just assumed what I asked for. They put in the wrong size. I spoke with the owner and he wouldn't budge just told me he would give me a future discount and only $50 off today, however there was a $400 discrepancy and they haven't completed the job, but they want me to still pay immediately and they kept on saying they already filed a police report. I returned to pay them for their incomplete work and told them I was getting a high pitched sound and the radio shuts off as well as the radio goes blank for no reason. The radio was still under warranty as I bought it a two months earlier for a car that was totaled. I told the owner I didn't want those type R's, but again they never replaced them with a proper set. I would never pay $120 to put speakers in I can do it myself they come basically all ready set up. When I returned with my vehicle the following week the third time to get the additional parts place in the vehicle and the speakers removed as well as my factory amp into its factory location as well as hopefully they would finally fix my microphone they called me and said they were done. The harness they put in did not in fact maintain all of my factory controls as they stated. I had to purchase an additional harness to complete their work. when I asked them about it they told me it was gonna be $125 to install it I told them to piss off. I explained to my credit card company about the horrible job they did and then I would have to take it somewhere else just to fix their "professional work". They wrote the credit card company and said I was belligerent and I signed the receipt so I have to pay. The credit card company wrote me and said if I would like to continue to dispute I would have to go somewhere else to verify the poor workmanship of the shop. When I took it to the other shop to have them take a look at it they were appalled and showed me all the things listed in this review so there was way more I didn't even know about. My wife took her car there and had nothing but problems. The staff and the owner were never "available" to discuss issues and I pretty much stayed out of it -until yesterday. We finally dug into the issue and found that most of the installation was held up with duct tape and screws that almost punctured the frame and came close to punching through a power feeder cable. So much extra wire and power cords - open circuits and improper grounds. Just a mess. We are fixing it correctly now, but we will be filing complaints with the State Attorney Generals Office and BBB. I came on Saturday and got an estimate for a new in-dash media player. The price seemed competitive with other quotes I got for a similar install and product so I came in the next day at opening to get it done. I paid and dropped my car off. They said it could take anywhere from 10 am to 5 pm but they indicated it would be earlier than that because I was literally the second person into the store after waiting outside before opening. I didn't get my car until about 3:45 pm which was frustrating but they did say it could be anytime during the day so I understand. The install seems great. but a few of the controls like voice command on the steering wheel isn't functioned even though I paid two separate steering wheel control install fees. I am going to call back and see if that is something that can be fixed when I have time and will update my review based on that. Otherwise the whole experience was pretty good and I cautiously recommend them if you need a new stereo installed. read more

ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE-SHOPPER BEWARE!!! These people are total Shysters! I recently went to Stereo Warehouse and I am a fan of JBL speakers. I bought 2 boxes of 6/9s and I made an appointment to have the speakers installed a week later. When I showed up for my appointment, the owner talked me out of the JBL and said you need Hurst Speakers (stating these were the best). I trusted his judgement and so I purchased the Hurst Speakers, a deck, an AMP and the wires to connect it all. After installation, I came to pick the car up and upon driving home the deck volume knob (actually the knob that has the settings for the deck itself) would not turn the volume up at all. So I called Stereo Warehouse and spoke to the owner and he said, "We'll fix it!" I ended up having to go out there 2 additional times for them to fix the problem. The problem was NEVER resolved. They did not refund my money and I had to buy the original JBL speakers out of pocket. I was told I would be refunded for the Hurst speakers and the deck. I had to bring them to him to be refunded. However, he would not give me the money back for labor and the horrible installation. I ended up having to get a new installer to put taker out the Hurst speakers and deck to return them to get my money back. The new installer told me that this is the WORST install he has ever seen and helped me to take pictures for reference. I am completely disappointed. The owner and installation employee said that I need to see a doctor and have some help. I am disabled and I have a brain injury, and I feel that this is TOTAL Discrimination and I am going to file a claim with ADA. There is no reason these people should be in business with the way they treat their customers. This is stealing from the consumer and making them feel that it is their fault due to a disability. READ ENTIRE REVIEW. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. In Dec 2020, I Bought a '19 Tacoma. Had them install an alarm. Worked well. Price was right. They also installed the dash cam. Happy with work. *February 2021, I had to return the Tacoma because of some Toyota issues so I purchased a 2021 Tacoma. Before I returned the 2019 Tacoma, I paid Stereo Warehouse to remove the alarm. *I brought in my 2021 to have the alarm installed but it was found to not work with that truck and since it's so wirelessly connected, I didn't need it anyway. That money was gone and it was a lot. They did, however, install an amp and new speakers. I also had them install a new dash camera system which has a front facing camera and a rear facing camera. This is where the problems started. *I had them install a power supply in the dash because I didn't want any wires showing. I provided the camera wires but they supplied the power supply. when I left the shop, the camera kept cycling on and off. I didn't even leave the parking lot before I pointed this out to the install tech. We plugged the camera into the accessory port in the dash and it worked. Turns out, the power supply i purchased from them was faulty. No one's fault but they didn't have time to change it out so I had to wait a few weeks to return. I rarely drive my truck so this wasn't too much of a hassle. *I was advised by Brian and Luis, the install techs, to purchase the direct wire kit from the company for the dash cameras so I did. Scheduling the install was a pain because Dutton said he wanted the truck on a Friday as it was their least busiest day. *While on a trip to the coast, less than just a few hundred miles later, my electronic stability light illuminated on the dash. My truck has only 2000 miles at this point. The light stayed on and that warranted a visit to the dealership. It was discovered that the wiring and the power supply that was installed in the dash was interfering with the button that turns on and off the ESC. I was also shown that all the clips were broken on the panel that covers the wiring and would not go back into place without buying new clips. That's not that big of a deal but the biggest problem that was pointed out to me was the headliner was coming down on the driver's side. when I called Dutton to discuss this, he said it would be addressed when I brought it in for the rewiring. *I ended up having to wait until the end of July to do this because of scheduling. Again, I rarely drive my truck so at this point it still has only about 3,000 miles total. When I brought it in, I talked to Brian who was going to be handling this repair. I told him about the falling headliner and he said Dutton would take care of it even if it involved taking my truck to an upholstery place. When I got my truck back later that day, everything seemed to be working as it should and the headliner was back in position. *Just a week later, the headliner detached again. I noticed they used double stick tape to reattach it and I also noticed it was bent in a way that it'll probably NEVER go back to it's original position. I called the shop and was asked to e-mail a photo of the headliner and then to call Dutton to make arrangements to have it addressed. I did. Attached is the photo taken the day I emailed it as well as a screen shot of the app showing my truck had only 3,576 miles so it's not like I was using this a lot. Again, i rarely drive it so i was never in a hurry to have the issues addressed and Fridays were the only days I could bring it in. *Last week, I noticed the dome light did not work. I don't think I've ever tried it after the camera was installed because it's just not something I use that often. I called Dutton this morning and told him the dome light didn't work and the headliner had fallen down again. *He said, "we can't fix the headliner. You brought your own camera for us to install it so I can't help you with that. we'll fix the light for free though". ***OUTRAGEOUS*** If the wiring for the camera wouldn't work through the headliner of the truck, don't attempt to install it. it's a really simple way to avoid future problems. I was told the cord was a little too long to the rear camera and it had to be snaked through the headliner and this is why the headliner was not going back into position. The option of not installing as a result was not given to me or else I would have said no and gone with a different camera. this is something the install tech should have told me instead of proceeding and ruining my new truck. Instead, the headliner was damaged beyond would he would accept responsibility for. My truck was $42,500 and had less than 200 miles on it when I brought to them. This will forever be a scar I will have to live with until I either pay someone else a LOT to fix it (small claims?) or trade it in. read more

Avoid at all costs. These guys sold me an "brand new" amp that had a dead channel. When I brought it back to them they changed their story and told me there was no warranty. They insisted that it had a warranty when I purchased it, sales person name Laurie. I have all of my paperwork showing that I have a warranty and they refused to honor it. They fabricated some story that all sales are final and no warranty on any items. The owner was abusive and screamed at me on the phone before hanging up. A smart business person would have kept a customer which has spent tens of thousands of dollars at their business over the years. read more

I started to think with my own brain why is my alarm not working? no mind you I'm not a professional like the guys at car stereo warehouse who had no clue and who could not help me at all despite the fact that the only two things they install there on a regular basis are car stereos and alarms. The worst service I've received in years! It took them almost 5 hours to install a simple basic alarm. I called on Friday to ask whether I needed to set an appointment. They said I could just drive up without an appointment. I drove in a 12:35 on Saturday and paid $214 for a basic $150 alarm (+tax, +labor, etc). The employee said it would take "a couple of hours." I spent 2 hours in the waiting room (which had a TV without a volume control...) reading my Kindle app. At the 2-hour mark, I decided to give them 30 more minutes. After 2.5 hours of waiting, I walked back to the store: a different employee said it would only take another hour. He then called the garage and it was only at that point (2.5 hours later!) that they drove my car in to start installing the alarm. An hour later, after 3.5 hours of waiting, I walked back. The second employee said he couldn't reach the garage by phone, and would walk over to talk to them as soon as somebody else could cover the cash register. To his credit, he did express surprise that the first employee didn't say anything about other customers who were scheduled (!!!) ahead of me. 20 minutes later, the first employee showed up, mumbled something about something unusual having happened earlier, and said it would be done anytime now. It took another hour of waiting (4 hours and 40 minutes total, for those of you keeping score at home) for them to finally install the alarm. Tl;dr - they lied three times: when they said there were no appointments necessary; when they said it'd be only a "couple of hours"; when they said it would be just another hour, 2.5 hours after I paid them. *Do not* do business with these charlatans. I don't care how high their average review is or what they advertise - find another place. Literally any other business in the area would treat you better. read more

I got a Rockford fosgate installed on my car. Very pleased with the results. The bass is 3-4x my expectations. I wanted to give a 5 star for the quality of work performed by the shop and the overall friendliness of the staff. The only reason I am giving a 3 star is that when I went for a quote I was quoted $175 for the labor charges vs when they actually installed it, they charged me $325 for the labor. The reasoning given behind this was that the hourly rate for labor is around $100 and it would take around 3 hours to install hence the $325 labor cost. However, I was waiting at the shop for the whole day and I saw the installation happen in front of me and it did not take more than 1.5 hour. I just felt overcharged for the labor cost. I was getting ready to go on a vacation and I wanted to upgrade my sound system in my Subaru Forester. As a single father, I find it still hard to spoil myself, but I decided not to go the research and install myself route and let someone else do it. I chose Stereo Warehouse because I didn't want to go to Car Toys and they've been around forever. Must be doing something right, right? While, overall, I am satisfied and I fully admit I did not research or was diligent in going over every detail, there are some things that should be pointed out and resulting in my three star review. When I went in there I asked Dutton to help me find a system that wasn't too expensive, with a cd player. I was hoping to spend around $600. He looked up a few things, went out and looked at my car. I genuinely liked him. He pointed out a few stereos. I remember asking him again if one had a cd player. He said yes. I went with everything he recommended and did not barter. I wanted him to do what he did best. He asked me toward the end if I still wanted to be able to control the stereo with my steering wheel. I said yes. The total was $800 and, while that was steep, I just wanted to have a good experience and not stress. We set an install date for the next week. I brought it in. While walking my dog I get a call from Dutton, asking me if I wanted steering wheel controls. I said I had told him yes. He said he hadn't written it down and it'd cost me an extra $150. This kind of stuff probably would piss anyone off. I tell anyone this story and they'll say I'm being manipulated. I decided to not doubt him. Shit, my car was there and I wanted it done. He gave me a "deal" by charging me just another $100. Now my total is $900. l got my car later. First thing I wanted to do was through in my Bauhaus cd as they were coming to town. Guess what? No cd player. I laughed. Again, I can deal and get modern or whatever, but DUDE! this was your chance to show me what you can do and you need to work on those listening skills. I was easy going and just wanted to let you do what you do. System is good enough. I'm not unhappy. But I'm not totally impressed either. My recommendation is do your research and go over everything once or twice before you give em your credit card. read more

Horrible service from the old man "ceo" at the front desk & the tech, I had an install done on my vehicle 2 years ago, somehow my OBD2 input stopped working, I bought my car brand new off the chevy lot, Stereo warehouse has been the only one to lay a finger on my vehicle's electrical system. I went by today to have them take a look & immediately the tech became defensive & argumentative, the "old guy CEO" told him to go take a look, then he shook his head & said whatever in a rude tone. We go outside, I was explaining to him what was wrong he snatches my keys from me & tells me just stop talking! I was like wtf!?? he gets in my car- slams MY door & skurts out in MY car to take it to his warehouse in the back! I said oh hell NO, give me my car back bruh I don't even want you touching it now! I told him the way he spoke to me was RUDE & unacceptable & he needed to learn some manners. I am so shocked at how blatantly rude they both were, they obviously do not value customers & think they can treat anyone the way they want & get away with it. I paid $160 for my deck to be installed. The deck was installed not quite right. There is a little bit of a gap underneath the deck. My dashboard was cracked. My brake lights and turn lights were left not functional. I went back to find out what I can do about my cracked dashboard brake lights and the guy that I dealt with immediately started with excuses saying if you would read the paperwork you would see that it was covered if any of the dashboard is broken during installation that's not covered and your car is old and the interior is probably brittle so it's not our fault. My dash had a carbon fiber cover on it, it wasn't old...now it looks old cause it's broken. So now I have to pay someone to remove my old dash cover and install a new one. The parts will cost 150 and who knows on labor. Basically I paid 160 bucks for them to break my dashboard, poorly install my stereo, mess up my brake lights for a couple days and then tell me to go pound sand. Everyone seems very nice there...that does not mean their work is good. An honest company would refund my money. If the job isn't performed correctly, I shouldn't be charged for it. In my opinion they should cover the replacement of the dash too. Live and learn . Do not use these guys. Came in, being mega frustrated with a not working stereo. Jake was in, and helped me out a bunch. Was very patient and kind, and explained what was going on. Left with not only a working stereo, but knowledge about my car, which made me more confident to care for her a little bit better than before. I highly recommend this place, these guys are more reasonable than Car Toys (they were quoting something upwards of ~$100 an hour, even to troubleshoot, without fixing. If there was a "No Star" option then that is what I would have chose. As soon as I walked in and saw some older guy making prank phone calls I should have turned around and went to CarToys. This place is a joke. My boyfriend wanted to get more base for his truck. The guy who helped us said that it would be around $400 and that was out of my price range so we asked if replacing the speakers would make the base sound better and then when we had more money we could go back and get the box. This skeez told me that the dash and door speakers would make a big difference and would cost a little over $300. We went ahead and had them put them in...after finding out that it was $359. Then the guy calls and tells us that there was no wires in the dash but not to worry...he'd have his installer put some in and we could just tip the installer $20 (now the price is $379...). When we go and pick it up there was a storm going on so we rushed back to our cars and I figured by the time we got home my bf would be sooooo happy! Nope! It sounded like crap. There was a really bad rattle in the dash speakers. On the driver side dash the speaker cover wasn't even screwed in all the way, it was sticking up and not even with the dash, and the idiot had drilled a hole in his speaker cover causing it to crack! Bf went back the next day to have them fix it or take it out and give us our money back and they said they wouldn't refund us or do anything about the speaker cover so he had to go to a dealership and buy another one...for $20 more dollars (now the price is at basically $400). And they told him to turn the base down all the way so that the speakers didn't rattle anymore. Defeating the purpose of getting new speakers...after the "salesman" assured us this would make his stereo sound better. So basically we were ripped off $400 and given a set of speakers that were worse than the original ones that we came in with. They were not willing to help us in any way. I highly recommend that you go to a reputable shop and not this hole in the wall ghetto place where all they do is screw you over! [EDIT] I did end up receiving a call back. -------------------------- I went in to Stereo Warehouse on February 3rd to have a Pioneer deck and backup camera installed in my Ford F-150. I was quoted $225 over the phone after giving details about my deck. I purchased this deck, along with the mounting brackets and wiring harness from Amazon.com. The woman on the phone said to bring it by any time and it could be done that day. I drove to Stereo Warehouse with all my gear and went inside. The guys at the counter were nice, and Carl (installer) came up to write up my order. I said I was quoted $225 on the phone. He said, "Well, OK, since you were quoted that, I'll charge you that. It should have been more." He mentioned that after the install I could tip him to help make up the difference. The guys at the counter asked, "Do you want a bypass installed?" I asked what a bypass was, and Carl said, "It's so that you can watch DVDs while driving. It's an extra $50 tip." I said I didn't need it, and besides, my wife wouldn't want me to spend money on that. After finalizing and paying for the service, Carl said, "I understand wives's, let me see if I can't just put that in there for ya." Carl picked up the box of everything off the counter, and I walked with him out to my truck. While we walked, Carl talked about his time at Magnolia HiFi and how he was the "#1 installer in all the company for 5 years in a row." He also talked about how I was getting a good deal because I was having the best in the business work on my truck. He got in the truck with the box of parts and drove it to the back install bay. My wife gave me a ride home, and I waited for the call. The call from Carl came a few hours later. I got a ride to Stereo Warehouse and met up with Carl in the back install bay. He took me to my truck and the install looked fine, though, all wasn't fine. Carl installed my backup camera on a switch rather than to the reverse gear. I asked if that was a limitation of the truck, he said, "no, it's a limitation of the installer. it's better this way." He also showed me that he installed the bypass even though I had said I didn't need it. When I got home, I checked out the backup camera. It was mounted to the license plate with the license plate bolts. These go into plastic and are not secure. The camera comes with security bolts, which Carl did not put on. I also noticed the backup camera wire was run under the truck bed rather loosely and through a few sections where moving parts could easily sheer the wire in two. I called the number on the card Carl gave me, and it went to voice mail. He had said earlier that he never answers the phone during the day, and returns voice mails at night. I left a voice mail on February 3rd. It's now February 8th. I have yet to hear from him. read more

I have used Stereo Warehouse a number of times and found them to be a much better option than the Car Toys Gangsters! I even used to recommend/promote Stereo Warehouse vehemently to my friends and colleagues, but sadly my last visit changed all that. I own a 96 Chevrolet Tahoe that went in for a new stereo over two weeks ago. Thanks to their inspection of my previous deck and recommendation on how to take the most advantage of the evolving iphone, I was helped to identify a deck that made sense. After what I observed to be a manhandle install (they had to pull out the deck at least twice by my count because they didn't get the install right the first time), my HVAC Controls stopped working. All of the heating functions were set to the floorboard (no defrost). When I brought this to their attention the same day they did check to see if a fuse was blown, but then promptly said "not our fault, associated the issues from previous install (Car Toys) and then "have a nice day!" Given what I saw in the install bay manhandling equipment in and out of my vehicle dash, I am in disagreement. It took $615 Dollars out of my pocket to correct and involved some major inconvenience for my family (no Defrost for this vehicle). So, what would have been a $215.00 Stereo with Installation, became an $830 Stereo. Pro -Nice guys -Competitive business against Internet Prices -Will install anything (bring your own equipment) -Installers are capable -Great location for me - 2 miles from my house -Better than Car Toys Con -Installation times can be a problem (longer than expected) - On my last visit I had to ask them to change it because they didn't get it right the first time. -Last visit resulted in a broken HVAC system -Owner showed very little character in our debate about why my HVAC System broke during the install - They blame previous installation and claim defects in my car - All of which don't add up - My Dad was a mechanic for 30 years and my Mechanic who corrected the problem for $615 disagree with Stereo Warehouse's assessment -Now I need to find a new place for Stereo Equipment and Installs. Stereo Warehouse has lost my business forever! And finally, I have tried to be very polite to Stereo Warehouse about all of this by setting expectations and demonstrating intent to find a mutual remedy. Unfortunately, we are at clear disparity. Stereo Warehouse has acknowledged that I am taking Stereo Warehouse to Small Claims Court in the near future. We will let the judge decide! read more

Klint's review is REALLY useful. I will only offer my opinion of the services: When I need a stereo, I go to Stereo Warehouse. The guys are attentive, friendly, funny and never try to sell me stuff I don't need. As a matter of fact, they always start off showing me a deck that is waaaaay cheaper than what I came in intending to spend. I understand that I drive an older car, but my little She-Ra has pretty good stock speakers that I like to take full advantage of. Both times I've gotten in and out in an hour or less. Minus one star for almost sending me off with the remote for my stereo still sitting in the workshop. It must have been next to the case for my faceplate that doesn't seem to be in the box either. read more

I took my '97 Outback into Stereo Warehouse a few weeks ago because my passenger speakers were crackling when I changed the volume. One guy came out and looked at the car, and since it was the type of thing that could be a couple of different problems, we decided to try to replace the speaker (which I had already known and wanted to see if they would take advantage of my stereo-illiteracy. They didn't.) They did try to oversell me a bit, starting with a speaker set that was $350 when I was looking for something a little more along the lines of $80. It is that type of business, so I'd make sure you do a little research before going in. After I told the sales guy I was more likely to be listening to NPR than Godsmack, I got him to show me the cheaper ones, and after he learned I had no interest in installing an amp, he recommended the cheapest ones that would work best at lower wattage, which I appreciated because I would have blindly bought the slightly more expensive ones that wouldn't have worked as well. Turns out it wasn't the speakers though. So I brought them back and they seemed really reluctant to accept a return until I told them "look, if you give me the money back, I'll likely buy a more expensive deck" (which is what I had determined the problem to be). That made them fold. I bought a $120 deck (which was something like a 30% markup) and paid for installation--it fixed the problem. The staff was pretty good, but not stellar with customer service. The place has a bit of a car-bro air with guys running around wearing sunglasses inside (why no, I'm not kidding) and chatting about their girlfriends and other stuff while you're standing around. I had to wander around for a long time while they installed the stereo and it felt a little like I was hanging out in a clubhouse where I wasn't a member. It's not the best environment for someone who doesn't know/care about stereos, so I'd have research and a price cap set before you went in. Overall, they fixed the problem for an ok price (Car Toys had quoted me $100 more), but I was just as happy to get out of there as I was to have the stereo fixed. read more

I've always been treated very well at Stereo Warehouse, so long as I have my equipment installed by Rudy. He always quotes me less for the job than I expected to pay, which makes it even easier to tip him and he always does a very professional job. The only problem I've come across is when the sales guys under quote the job I need and it ends being more because they over looked something or didn't really look at the car. I like a deal, but I'd rather pay the price for quality then be focused on just getting a cheap deal. The only time I had an issue with an install, he quickly replaced the woofer under their lifetime warranty and redid the job without complaint. He even did it while fixing some issues on other cars that had been worked on by former installers, and it didn't take him all day. I can't say I'm a huge fan of the rest of the place as far as customer service goes, but it's not a big corp place either, which I like. You just have to know what you want and how much you want to spend. My advice to anyone looking for a car audio and/or equipment install in Seattle, go to stereo warehouse (don't call) and ask for Rudy to install your gear. Just be mindful that he gets packed full of work cause everyone wants him to take care of them, so it'd be best to make an appointment with him for later in the day or later in the week. It's worth it. Don't settle for any other installer, trust me. If he's busy that day, make an appointment to come see him later in the week. He's not perfect, but he understands good customer service and is about getting the job done right, not messing around. read more

I was on the fence between a 4 and 5 star review. The ONLY reason I was considering anything less than a 5 star review is my discomfort with them playing music in the store that using the "N-word". I don't listen to that type of music, and as a liberal white guy...I don't run into the "n-word" much. So...that aside...they did a GREAT JOB! And I thought that deserves 5 stars regardless of my discomfort of their musical selection. Moving on to the installation. They were fair in their pricing. They were actually about $150 (maybe closer to $200) less than Car Toys for the same exact job. It's difficult to say because Car Toys wouldn't even put their estimate in writing for me. But I do know on my new antenna that Stereo Warehouse was almost exactly HALF the price of Car Toys for both the part and the installation. And frankly at half the price...it was fair. Car Toys was over-priced for the antenna. They didn't try to up-sell me. They did the work fast. Oh, and IF I needed to have my car re-wired (due to potential fiber optics) they were only going to charge an additional $100...not double the price (like Car Toys quoted me). I hope that people find Stereo Warehouse, instead of Car Toys. The experience was night and day for me. The guys at this place were super nice, helpful, not too "salesy", and just got me exactly what I wanted in my car. Thank you Stereo Warehouse! read more
