Went to this place as it was next-door to a vintage clothing store that my son wanted to walk into, and I have to say this is probably one of the best vintage gaming stores of the West Coast! The staff is super friendly and super nice! They were very helpful trying to locate two separate titles that are pretty hard to get your hands on. One even went above and beyond and searched other store, inventories, and even said that they could order it for me. When you walk in here, you will not believe how many older video games they have even stuff from back in the day when I had my Atari 2600. I love this spot. Most recently my fiance and I came in to get some SNES and SEGA games and controllers. The controllers were in great condition, however required a bit of disassembly and deep cleaning for our picky standards. The cartridges all had new batteries and were in decent shape because my fiance picked only the best looking ones. He still cleaned and disassembled these for a cleaning as well. The five stars is really for the staff at Pink Gorilla who are extremely knowledgeable and patient. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I bought a bunch of things like a wii and items for the wii. I decided not even a week later that I couldn't really travel with my wii due to the tv's upgrades. I go to return or trade in my stuff granted all my items came out over 200 dollars and the man had the audacity to tell me he could give me 50 dollars for all my items or 60 in store credit. I asked him how he came up with that calculations and he said there's really no answer for that it's private, so to me it sounds like he made up a number in his head to give me for my counsel, and all the items that came with it! I usually come here and get little games but I ain't getting nothing else from this store EVER! read more

This slightly hard to find store in china town is worth the trip! Very link and very cute. The young dude behind the counter was friendly and offered us help if we needed any. The game selection was insanely lacking unfortunately. The other location is bigger with more selection but the customer service for this one is much better - more friendly and helpful. The prices were very fair on almost everything (especially used controllers and memory cards). They had lots of keychains and plush toys here. All were authentic from japan. When you go to the entrance for Pink Gorilla it boasts that they specialize in retro gaming and that they certainly are! Some of the games they have here are for systems that I don't even have anymore. I used to play my game systems to death, D-E-A-T-H! My brother and I played so much that the buttons on the controls started melting. Truth! My gaming days are pretty much over but sometimes I still do buy a game here and there and play very sporadically. For those who still have some of these old systems that work properly this could be a retro gamers dream! The condition on the games here are good and sure beats sorting through a box at a garage sale and finding battered games that may work when you get them home. Because these games are in good condition though you pay a heartier price for them. P.S. They carry games for newer and current systems as well. read more

WOW! A real import video game store! While wandering around the ID we saw this great window full of anime and video game characters. Eventually we found the entrance. (it's not where you think it is) And discovered this great store. There are two parts to this store and one is on the left, the other on the right. The one on the left is full of video game merchandise. Shirts, keychains, statues, toys, paper. Just a great mix from all sorts of hit Japanese games. The right side houses all the import Japanese games and retro gaming gear. Hanging from the ceiling are old NES controllers, Genesis, even a Dreamcast. I swear these guys probably have a power glove somewhere. All the games are in Japanese so you better be ready to learn the language if you get them here. read more

I happen to see this place, while I was walking in the international district with my brother. When we walked in we were greeted by very nice and friendly staff. I was very impressed with the selection of inventory and what this place offers. The lady who rang me up, was so helpful, honest, personable, and seemed to pride herself in satisfying the customer. The experience overall and the particular staff member has me looking forward to the next time I come back. Pink Gorilla(formerly Pink Godzilla) is a really fun place to check out. Its small, but they make up for that by taking advantage of verticality. NES and classic games stacked from floor to ceiling, retro consoles and import games littering the walls. It is a little on the pricy side for the more exotic stuff though. But nonetheless, its worth visiting for the sheer volume of stuff they packed into this small place. Its a little overwhelming, so you better be prepared and hopefully know what you want. This place offers possibly the best trade in values for videogames in the city, so if you're looking to offload some oldies, be sure to visit Pink Gorilla. read more

Well, this is the first Pink Gorilla store but the last one for me to review. Wikipedia says that the International District store is the "primary and original" retailer. I remember coming here back when I was in high school, when the store was still called "Pink Godzilla" and the second store in the University District hadn't opened yet. But then the name "Godzilla" infringed on some copyrights or something, and the name was changed and now there are four stores total! The International District store feels especially cramped by comparison to the other stores, and parking is an absolute nightmare. If you don't manage to snag a spot on the street, then have fun paying a ton for Uwajimaya parking. Even after you park, the location may not be immediately obvious; look for the door under the sign that says "Fort St. George" and it's in there. The selection also feels kind of limited; maybe it's because some of their good stuff has moved to the other stores. And of course, with something like old video games, what they have depends largely on what people bring in to sell. That means the stuff is going to change all the time, and they're not entirely to blame if you don't see what you're looking for during the time of your visit. I do like this store a lot, and it brings back a lot of good memories for me. You're likely to see me drive to this one out of all the other stores the least though because I can never find decent parking. If I happen to be in the area, then yeah, I'll definitely stop by to see whether anything has arrived that I might like to buy. read more

I miss the old store name, but I still love Pinky G's, as my friends and I like to call it. This store is heaven if you still love playing old school games like SNES and Sega Saturn. Rows and rows of older, harder-to-find games, and not to forget all the great games straight from Japan. Some are pricey side, but it's understandable due to having to pay to find it, get it, and overhead. (Plus, let's face it--gaming is NOT a cheap hobby.) They also sell Japanese systems, upgraded systems to play older games on, video game related toys & collectibles, t-shirts, keychains, posters, magazines, and other cool stuff that you'll most likely spend a fair amount of time looking through and wishing you had more money to blow on. The people here are always friendly and helpful, more than willing to answer any questions you have, and much more fun to talk to than those kids you're forced to deal with at places like GameStop. I miss being able to walk into a store and get the imported games I want without having to wait for someone to ship it to me from Japan. Another great place I miss since I moved from WA. read more

This is a great place for random video game purchases. The staff knows what they're talking about and go the extra mile to try to find what you're looking for. It's great that I work close-by because I was looking for the Supernintendo version of Mario All Stars. They FINALLY had it today! I went ape shit (no pun intended. but I was SO STOKED! They called over to the University District Pink Gorilla and they had it. I paid for it right then and there and they said they could send it to the Pink Gorilla store in the ID. SCORE! I like video games, sure -- but not to the point where I care about the Japanese versions or buying oldschool super NES games cuz I still somehow have that console, cuz I don't. I have many apathetic memories from when this place was still Pink Godzilla, where after perusing the toys and games for about 20 min I would get bored and go sit out on the stairs and wait, and wait.. and WAIT for my Otaku ex and his friends to get the eff out of this store. They usually left after I came back in and gave them "I'm hungry let's leave NOW" death stares. Still, if vintage games are your thing you should check this place out. This place is the king. I came across this place when I was walking across the street and seeing the Pink Godzilla name. I stopped in my tracks as some distant mention of this place alarmed in the back of my head. I had to check it out. This place is packed with all kinds of sweet old (and some new) console systems and their games. They also have assorted related toys, japanese candies, and other little items. I even quizzed the guy to see if he was for real. me: "are old chrono trigger carts still going for some crazy amount of money?" him: "I think they're going for like $55 now. Not $75 or whatever they were before." Niiiice. The power glove and other not-for-sale objects are also on display here. This place knows their stuff. read more

I have fond memories of this little store. I went here when it was still called Pink Godzilla, many many years ago. And I still have the SNES Final Fantasy III in shrink wrap from that day. What can I say, this place is one of my absolute favorite places in Seattle. It's got some rare Japanese carts here and the price is pretty decent if you're a collector. This place rules all. Like all kids of the 80's, I had a Nintendo and a good amount of games. Like all the cases, the Nintendo broke, so I had no way of playing those sweet games. My friend told me about this place, so I checked it out. Low and behold, they had what is called the Yabo game system, which plays the original Nintendo games. And best of all, only like $30. Yipppeeeeeee!!!!! They have a bunch of the original Nintendo games along with a bunch of other retro games of various systems. I need to pick up Paperboy from there sometime. Rock! read more

I always leave this place having spent far more money than I'd originally intended. When that happens at other retail establishments, I feel dirty and I want to cry. However, when this happens at Pink Godzilla, I happily skip home to play all the fun games that I've purchased. The selection of import and hard-to-find games is amazing -- definitely stuff you won't find at your local mega-mart. The staff is friendly and super-knowledgable; they've played most of the games in that store, and they're happy to give you tips. If you're on the fence, they're also happy to let you demo a game. They sold me an N64. My boyfriend had been searching high and low for one for a couple of months, so I gave him one for his birthday. I was in such a hurry that I failed to ask them to test it, not even realizing that I wouldn't be able to return it if it was defective. I mean it makes sense when you think about it, since the products they sell are not generally brand new. But not to worry. The console works perfectly and my boyfriend was (still is) extremely happy. And it was totally cheaper than Amazon or eBay, and I didn't even have to wait for it to get shipped to me (and then try to hide it from my boyfriend when it showed up at the door). They were very friendly and helpful on the phone, and they kept out of the way while in the store, just let us browse and do our own thing while still answering questions. I'm a satisfied customer and will definitely check with them first if I have more retro game needs. read more

I recently took a trip to Seattle by the time I write this. My friends and I were on King Street checking out Seattle's Japan town when we stumbled upon this store. Now let me say first that I was aware of the University District location thanks to a youtuber I follow named Metal Jesus Rocks. I had intended to visit that location at a later time which I did. But this location, we stumbled upon on accident. It was a small store, but what a fantastic collection of video games both retro and new. It had a wonderful presentation with it's games and the store itself was well organized. But I was more impressed by the staff. It was two women who names I wished I asked. They were not only very friendly and fun to chat with, but they were very helpful. When I was buying my collection of PS2 games, one of them notice the one of the disks was a bit roughed up and they offered to give it a quick clean before selling it which they did. Not only that, they asked me if I wanted to check up on some recent PS2 trade-ins that had just got moments ago which I found to be very thoughtful of them. The games I bought were Castlevania: Curse of Darkness, Hunter The Reckoning Wayward, Star Wars: Starfighter, both Medal of Honorgames Frontline and Rising Sun and finally Hexen for N64. Games I was very happy to from them. I would happily buy from them again if I ever return to Seattle. It was an incredible video game store as well as their University District location. I don't think there is a gaming museum in the US, but Pink Godzilla is a scrappy contender, despite its tiny location buried in a mall of sorts in the International District. If you want to show your kids, who have never heard of Xenogears, nevermind Earthbound or Kid Icarus, how games used to be in "the good old days" when all we had were 8 bits and passionately loved every single bit, your choices are basically endlessly scouring garage sales and flea markets in hope of discovering lost treasures, Ebay, Craigslist or Pink Godzilla. They have games from the current day dating back to the Atari 2600. There's also a ton of related game merchandise and some Japanese items just for cultural completeness like pocky. Without a Japan fetish or a soft spot for kawaii, I don't think I can fully appreciate it - although even I must admit that the Pink Godzilla panties would bring a perverse sense of enjoyment while worn by that special anime girl in your life, although if you're not that special anime girl yourself, good luck with that since I witnessed a (half-)Asian gamer geek turn down her husband's suggestion of them while I was there. The main downside of Pink Godzilla is unlike garage sales, the staff here absolutely knows what something is worth - the museum feel also applies to pricing. Rare titles are present but priced like works of art - a *used* copy of Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne for $70+? Come on! read more
