Side swiped while at the mechanic
Amy L.

I wanted to like this mechanic because it was recommended to me and Paul is easy going and helpful when you drop by, but I've had to return four times for a check engine light, left the car for 8 hours the fourth time and still no resolution nor was there any recommendation as to where else might help. I returned to see they had side swiped my car while in their care all day. Paul took no responsibility and swore "it was there" when I brought it in. Finding a new mechanic!

I had a minor issue with my A/C. Paul helped me immediately, and for free. I couldn't imagine better service- just perfect!

Placing a hands-not-free panicked call to my bro led me to this awesome garage and Paul T on Phinney Ridge.

Very first time I went here was to get a second opinion on a laundry list of "issues" from a repair…read moreshop I used to trust. No 1 Japanese Auto could have also tried to take advantage of a non-gearhead like myself. Instead Tony pointed out a fraction of a fraction of the issues that other place mentioned (10 months later, my car is still running fine). Another time took my car in because my breaks were squeaking/grinding in very specific conditions. Even when I called Tony said "we didn't see you that long ago, but better safe than sorry." After inspecting, he said my breaks don't need replacing yet, but maybe by the time for my next oil change. I figured I'd at least pay for the labor of looking. But when I picked it up -- nope! No charge. Tony is a real one.

Was to start a great place, but things abruptly changed. Was a couple of years ago looking for…read moreanother car repair place that was a small business. Found Tony after my then current repair shop turned from small business to large business. Turning to large business the shop lost all the good customer service they gave. Tony was a great find, called my car "classic" and was happy to chat about my car. Called today to schedule an oil change, had not heard back from him from a VM I left 3 days ago. I spoke to him today, he flatly said, " I don't work on old cars anymore ". I asked him not even for an oil change? He said no, too hard to get parts. Ok- it's certainly his choice to not work on certain cars because of his ability, but be aware that his shop doesn't work on whatever he deems as "old". When electric and newer cars that require computers to diagnose and repair become the norm, places like Tony's will be considered "old" and fall out of need.
