More than a nightmare. A life changing experience. I had an accident around 10/30/21. I waited until 8/22 before I took my 2019 Infinity Q60 red line sport to Sterling Auto collision, (SAC), because I loved my car. It was driving fine. Visibly it looked llike rminor damage. Fender, grill, bumper, and deployed airbag. I've never had a nice car, so I was enjoying it while I could. Thought I'd get a pretty car. Maybe my life would change.  It did. 2 initial checks were written by State Farm to start work, 8/22 and 10/22 totaling $16,152.60. Additional amendments to damage kept coming. 1/23 for $4658.50, for headlights. 2 headlights that worked perfectly for 9 months, while I drove my pretty car. They bought brand new headlights. Why? Why that much? IT'S NOT A FERRARI. I doubt Ferrari headlights cost that much, especially if nothing is wrong with them. Slow poking for a year, to 8/23. Another check, written directly to Sterling, for $3962.92. Up another $8621.42. Now they're were at $24,777.62. But wait, there's more, we're not done. NOT EVEN CLOSE. They almost double that #. Bleeding me as I made $1000 a month payments on loan and ins., for almost 1 1/2 years. Trying to destroying my life. Like the family they almost ruined about the same time. They gave SAC an F on BBB. Unfortunately I have no family. My prospects become dimmer day by day. Because of SAC.  Time passed, they dragged on, stalling, not answering calls, no emails or calling me once. My calls went unanswered, or ignored. Once, I reached Joey, the owner. I asked, "where's my car, why has it taken well over a year"? He says, "let me check on that, puts me on hold10 minutes, then hangs up on me. That's how they treated me, LIKE TRASH. They knew all the angles. What they could get away with. Masters of deception, with no consciencee. Thinking there are no consequences for violating others. No mercy, just one goal. The art of the scam. Joey's peons, Mel and others, constantly stalled, lied, schemed. Working their magic. Over 13 months into "their project" I stopped in, to inspect the condition of my car and make sure it would still start, as it baked in full sun, totally diccoloring my dash, but still with that new car smell.. Thankfully it started right up.That high performance engine, on a car I could only dream of. Honestly, I had'nt seen much of anything done on it, except the fender. The bumper hung on the wall, as Mel said, that's it, we're almost finished. "When will it be done?", I said. Mel says,"it only needs 2 MORE WEEKS, we need to get it out  of here". More time passed as State Farm kept paying. Oddly, directly to Sterling, instead of me, that I'd transfer to SAC. The coup de gras de fraud was when SF wrote a final check for...GET THIS, $23,164.01! Then SAC abandoned the car at Infinity of Austin, for the finishing touche. That airbag, an outrageously priced one. I called Infinity to check on the airbag. "Is it installed?", they said, "we know nothing about an airbag. Car was dropped off and SAC said, IT WON'T START". I said, are you telling me you never got $23,000 to put an airbag in?"  There I was, making $1,000 payments for allmost 18 months om a loan & ins. It was obvious I was never going to get my car back. It was taken by Cinch Auto finance, after they were told it was ABANDONED, with only 4k to payoff a loan. SICK! The only nice car I've owned. Driving stinky work trucks for over 40 years. The $23,164.01?  What happened to that? Pocketed by SAC. A little "bonus". The pleasure derived by F****** ME, and getting very well paid for that privaledge. When I called up Sterling and asked "what happened to the $23k? It was Mel or another peon who said, "oh, we spent that $ on parts for the airbag. I said, "then why in the hell did you send it to infinity, after telling me you were not qualified to install airbags?!" Frauds, liars, manipulators, schemers, theives. read more

I am writing to express my profound disappointment with the service provided by Sterling Auto concerning the repair of my vehicle following hail damage. My experience has been fraught with delays, subpar workmanship, and a lack of effective communication. Timeline and Financial Commitment: * June 2024: I entrusted my vehicle to Sterling Auto for repairs related to hail damage. * August 2024: I remitted the full payment of $11,524.46 ,anticipating a comprehensive and timely restoration. Issues Encountered: * Incomplete Repairs: After nine months, several components, including the windshield, moonroof glass, and various trim, remain either unprepared or not relaced. Some parts under the hood are missing. * Substandard Workmanship: The trunk was improperly reinstalled, and the vehicle emblems were not reattached, reflecting a lack of attention to detail. * Management Instability: The frequent turnover of managers has contributed to inconsistent communication and a lack of accountability. Mel, Demetri and then Abel. Also Joey Hayes the owner was contacted but never responded as well. * Communication Deficiencies: Repeated attempts to obtain updates via emails and phone calls have largely been unreturned, leaving me without clear information regarding the status of the repairs. The vehicle was returned to me upon my request for use in financial needs, after a check was handed to the manager at the time Mel in person for $11,524.46, with a promise to repair the vehicle in a timely manner at a later date in one business day. That was in August of 2024. The repairs are yet to be completed. Communication with the multiple new managers was dragged on with promises of looking into it and looking into parts. We met with Abel in person on Feb 17th. He promised the trim, windshield, moonroof and other parts would be ordered and replaced. Even including reattaching my left mirror which was unrelated to this event. I drove 3 hours there (I have moved since) and then drove 3 hrs back in the middle of the week. On Thursday March 6th at 1:21pm was the last communication from Abel (the manager) stating he was looking into parts. The same excuse given for months and months. At that time I asked for my money back. There was no response so a demand email was sent with a repair quote from another repair shop to Abel (manager), their support as well as Rachael and Joey Hayes email accounts Friday March 7th at 12:14pm. This demand was never responded to. Current Situation: The latest communication from the new manager, Abel, indicates that the shop is currently managing a backlog of 20 vehicles, suggesting systemic inefficiencies that adversely affect customer service. Personal Impact: This protracted ordeal has imposed significant emotional and financial stress on me and my family. As a longstanding patron of Sterling Auto for over a decade, this experience has been particularly disheartening. My commitment to supporting local businesses in our community has been met with an unprecedented level of dissatisfaction. Recommendation: Prospective customers are advised to exercise caution when considering Sterling Auto for vehicle repairs. My experience underscores the importance of thoroughly evaluating a repair shop's current operational effectiveness and customer service responsiveness before entrusting them with substantial repair projects. Summary of my review: I don't think there is any part of Sterling's business that I can recommend to anyone. Time to complete body work, and communcation: They had our vehicle for over 9 months. From the beginning, to the end, they called us back two or three times. The only way we got updates from them, was if we called them, and actually could catch them on the phone. We were told from the start, that it should take about 2 weeks until we would get our car back. 4 weeks later, halloween came and went, thanksgiving came and went, Christmas, Spring break, Summer began, then in July we finally got the car back. State of vehicle at delivery: The state we got it in was pretty terrible. The paint job has specks in it where there are dots just missing paint (photo attached). Internal trim pieces are still missing(photo attached). Some other internal trim pieces were there, but were missing the screws to attach them to the vehicle, so were just floating around, not attached, (photo attached) so I went to home depot to get the right screws and attach them. One trim piece (a handle that allows people to grab on as they get in and out of the car), had covers to hide the screws that bolt the handle to the car, and those covers are designed to stay attached to the handle with a plastic cord that keeps it attached to the handle. Sterling cut those covers cords (photos attached), so I need to buy a whole new handle to get those bolts covered. The glass from the side of the vehicle that had a collision which are windows that are fixed in place, were leaking water any time it rained or got wet. Our vehicle has a sliding door, which you can see sunlight coming in through when it's fully closed. (photo attached) Follow up after delivery: We noted these follow up items with Sterling the same week we got our vehicle back, and were told they would work with our insurance to get those missing trim pieces. 3 weeks later, I called my insurance to see if Sterling's project manager or anyone had called them to get these missing items ordered. No one had called them. From my insurance company's perspective, the item was closed. The insurance company also told me there was nothing they could do to protect me or help me out, becuase Sterling had already been paid, and is not a body shop they work with. I also asked if they could have warned me not do work with Sterling, and they said they couldn't do that legally. We went back to sterling to follow up on getting these missing trim items and getting the windows sealed (two months after complaining about the leaking windows and never getting a call back from them). We were told by their project manager, that he had called the insurance and was waiting to get a call back from the insurance. I verified with the insurance again, and they had yet to receive a call from Sterling. This was also a common theme we noticed with Sterling's project manager. We would ask where things were, and we would consistently hear from him that he was waiting on other parties, like the local Nissan Dealership, or their parts supplier, our insurance. And when we took the extra step to contact those 3rd parties, we would find out they had never talked to Sterling about those items yet. It seems from our opinion, that their project manager forgets to follow up and get stuff done with third parties, and blames those things on the third parties. Money I had to pay, to do Sterling's job again, that they already got paid on: So instead of continuing to get water damage in the vehicle anytime it rained (waiting 3 months after delivery for Sterling to get their crap together), I called Classic Collision, down the street, who got me their window guys contact info, and had them reseal the windows the next day. I went to Home depot to get the missing screws, and I am just faced with missing trim pieces that were completely fine after the collision, but were just simply lost or damaged by Sterling. read more

I brought my car to this shop after a serious accident, expecting the same quality and service that my dad and friends had received a few years ago. They had directly been helped by Joey, himself. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing and not at all in line with the shop's previous reputation. First I'll just say, in the end, the quality of the repair work was decent, but the time it took to complete the repairs and the lack of communication were appalling. I was left in the dark for months with almost no updates about my car's status, and each time I tried to reach out, I was given vague responses and no timeline for completion. The answer was always, "at the end of this week" for about 4 weeks straight. When I finally got my car back, the disappointment only deepened. The tint was damaged, some parts weren't installed correctly or missing, and some pieces were even broken. After a closer inspection, I noticed that my subwoofer line out converter was disconnected. I returned to the shop to get the previous issues addressed, and after yet another wait, I got the car back - only to realize that my line out converter was now missing entirely. I called the manager, Mel, about this, but he never followed up or took responsibility. They addressed my scratch tint, but both sides of my tint were scratched. They only repaired one of the sides after telling them in person numerous times that both sides were scratched. I called back saying that they only fixed one side and the manager said to go through their email even after I've already shown the damage in-person. I followed up three times on their email and was left unanswered. I never got my piece for my roof liner that was missing. Honestly, I don't even want to deal with it anymore. I just wanted it to be done with. Prior to this, I took my car back numerous times for trim pieces, buffing of the paint that was unfinished, the tint, etc. I went back and forth over there 5 times to finish repairs on my car, yet they still aren't finished! My car is still missing pieces and has damaged tint. This experience was the exact opposite of what I'd expected from this shop. The lack of accountability, poor communication, and the fact that they lost a part of my sound system are unacceptable. I would never recommend this shop to anyone looking for reliable and trustworthy service. read more

I use to believe that Sterling Auto Collision was the best body shop. Not anymore. I drop my mom's car of to be repaired May 23rd. A guy with a 16' trailer took out the right side. I took out the left. I told Joey whatever the insurance didn't cover I would pay for as I wanted everything repaired. I found me an Audi TDI. Just a little over a month I got into a bad hail storm 6-8. Went to Sterling on 6-12 and talk to Mel. I needed an estimate to see if I wanted to pay myself or file on my insurance. When I had not heard from him I stopped by on 6-20 and Joey was in the parking lot and I asked what's going on. Mel came walking by and Joey asked if he had called the guy that does DPR and he said he had not call. On 6-22 when I got the estimate I filed on my insurance. I received the estimate on 6-27 and I was surprised that it was almost 6K and I wanted another 1-2K of work done. Stopped buy Sterling on my way home and presented it to Mel. We talked about him ordering the part and calling me. Starting in late July they called my mom and said it would be ready that Friday. Friday came and went. They didn't return phone calls nor answer emails. I stopped by on 8-31 and Mel said it was finished except for some moldings. When I looked at the car the back bumper wasn't repaired. Mel said the insurance didn't want to pay. I told him I told Joey I wanted everything repaired and I was paying for what the insurance didn't. I took my mom to pick up the car on 9-11. I noticed that the left rear quarter panel still had damage. They charged me to repair the left side and did not complete the job. No quality control. As of 9-17 haven't heard anything about my car which is fine as I will never take anything there again. read more

TLDR; Stirling Auto Collision is simply put not only an incredible Body Shop but an incredible business run by honest, hard working people. The quality of the work is second to none, they are independent so cannot be bought by insurance companies and I would have zero, literally ZERO hesitations to recommend these guy to anyone. Long version: Do you ever find a business, be it a restaurant, shop, mechanic etc where you just know you are a customer for life.... Well Stirling Auto Collision is that body shop to me. My wife got her dream car around a year ago and got into an accident in March of this year. We had the car towed to a "preferred partner" bodyshop of the Insurance company. We got the devastating news that the car was totaled due to frame damage and the estimated repair costs vs vehicle value. Reviewing the quote just didnt feel right with items listed there that I knew were not part of the accident. I decided to get a second opinion and Stirling Auto Collision was recommended to me so I had my vehicle towed there and Wade could not have been more helpful. Both him and Joey (the owner) worked with me to explain everything that was going on and that the vehicle had never been on a frame machine which was evident by the way the car was sitting. Stirling Auto put the car on the frame shop, sent me a written report confirming the frame was not bent and a quote to repair the work around 65% of the initial shop. With this information I was able to go back to my insurance company and have them reverse the decision of totaling the car and get the repairs authorized. Stirling Auto Collision fought to have my vehicle repaired with OEM parts and handled importing hundreds or parts from Germany in the middle of a Global Pandemic to have the car put back to be 100%. Wade kept me up to date on the progress, even texting progress pictures. The finished product is simply stunning! The car looks like it rolled off the factory and is immaculate. The car drives like a dream and I couldn't be happier. Not only did they repair the car like new, they helped me every step of the way undoing the mess that was left by the previous shop, they dealt with my insurance directly and I will never ever go anywhere else. read more

Someone gave me a little side swipe in a parking lot. Another place told me it would be $500 to repair it. Sterling allowed me to pop by to take a look and Mel came out with some magic liquid. He basically fixed it on the spot and explained I could get a paint pen from my dealer to touch up one area a little better. Wowww! I have been a customer of Sterling auto repair for years. I took my escalade and my camaro to the shop pre-covid and had no issues. My cars were fixed and back to me within 2 weeks. However, recently I had an accident and needed immediate repair because it involved the front headlight and I didn't want to drive it at night the way it was. I called them and set up an appointment so pictures could be taken and parts ordered a week before my drop off dat7e. I took my car in on nov. 1st. I called Nov 15th to check and see what the issue was because I hadn't heard from anyone at the shop. Well they begin to tell me they hadn't even started my car until Nov 10th. Meaning ot sat there for 10 days before they even touched it. That means I had 2 weeks basically of rental fees that I didn't have to have if they just had me wait until the 10th to drop it off! Thats complaint #1. Then I call again , now the excuse is someone quit they don't have anyone to work on the cars. !!! Ugghh more rental fees! Ok. So I ask when do you think it will be ready? I was told Ohhh we had to order another part that we won't get for a couple of days but we should have you ready by the end of the week.... that was last Wednesday. Well today I call and I'm sent straight to voice-mail. I haven't been rude, I have been Un compromising as everytime they tell me why my cars not ready I use explain ok... I'm not rich lady I just need my car to get to work. This is hurting business. Can yall keep me in the loop? Nothing. Might as well be talking to myself. Soo.. my point is they have officially lost a customer. Word of mouth goes a long way. Lack of professionalism, inability to keep dates promised. I am loosing money Dailey because of this shop. It is very hard to find words that would fully describe the gratitude I feel towards these guys. I own a convertible PT Cruiser and if you ever owned one, you know that nothing is simple and straight forward with these cars. When I arrived to work this morning and could not open my trunk door I thought, not a biggy, I will fold the back seat and get my computer and purse through the back seat, until I can go somewhere to get it repaired. Boy, was I wrong. I edge my "little" me into the back seat, trying to find the "button" to release the back seat but could not find it anywhere. I googled PT Cruiser manual and found that my car has the release button inside the trunk! Great! I called AAA but they could not help as this was not an emergency. Well, I suppose not life and deaf situation anyway. So called my local auto mechanic, thinking they will use their magic tools and pop my trunk open. No, they could not do anything so they referred me to Sterling Automotive. Maybe they have tools to open a stuck trunk. I arrived to Sterling and was greeted by Wayne. At this point, he was optimistic, smiled and said, no problem ma'm - we will get your trunk opened for you. Until he saw my car and edged his little self onto my back seat and was faced with the reality that yes, PT Cruiser convertible has the release buttons situated inside the trunk. So Wayne refused to give up and created this hook from my wire hanger and was trying hard to pull my emergency string inside the trunk. Guys, this is Texas and this poor guy was working in 100F heat, sweat dripping but he refused to give up. At this point, Michael came to see what's up. So now I have two guys trying to push their arms through the middle of my back seat so they can pull on the emergency cord. My trunk door would not open no matter what they did. We turned to YouTube, we found the manual and still we did not know what to do or how to get us into my trunk. The only thing we could think of at this point was to remove the back seat somehow. So both of them started working hard on unscrewing all the bolts and jiggling and juggling my car seat so that they could create a bit more space to do something. Yes, you guessed right, you can't easily remove the back seat without pressing the stupid release button that we could not get to. So Wayne decides to lift the seat as much as possible with Michael inching his way inside my trunk on his back. I was praying to all mighty that Wayne would not drop the seat because Micheal would surely get decapitated in the process. Or at least get stuck half way inside my trunk. So the top half of Michael is inside my trunk, the bottom half of Michael is outside in the scorching 100F heat and Wayne is holding to my seat like life depends on it. And then I heard POP and that was the most beautiful sound in my life. The trunk opened and I could see in. My handbag clip got caught in the locking mechanism and that is why I could not open the door. They bolted my seat back in place all is fixed and I am thinking that what these guys did for me today was so over and beyond of normal call of duty. So many others would have given up and they did. Wayne and Michael saw a challenge and they refused to give up on me. If you are looking for a place where you need dedicated team that will do their hardest to help you. If you need a place where people can and will think outside the box, Sterling Automotive is your place to come. I will always be grateful for what they did for me today. If you are looking for someone to do excellent paint and body restoration with a rare attention to detail, Sterling Auto would be my recommendation. I recently had my 2008 Toyota FJ restored to original paint scheme with some changes in Toyota parts and aftermarket additions. The Sterling team did a fantastic job! I am truly impressed with their quality of work and attention to detail. For example, the powder coat color/tone on aftermarket bumper matches color of roof rack and window trim. The paint seam from maroon to white looks like original factory seam. All parts were removed and replaced with new or original, so there are no taping or overspray spots on vehicle. Additionally they made some improvements, such as painting the window trim versus replacing original factory taping. Yet it looks like the factory original tape in texture while matching other parts on FJ. Simply stated it looks like it came from the factory with upgrades. I love it! read more

Having just talked up Jeff's Auto Collision, it seems strange that I would be writing a review for a competing body shop. That said, while Jeff's gets the majority of my work and the majority of my recommendations, there's only one shop I will take my Porsche to, and that is this one. If you need custom work or something very unusual (like a helicopter), this is your place. My only real complaint is that it is way out in the middle of nowhere, so getting a vehicle down there and back can be challenging. read more

It pains me to write this after seeing so many 5 star reviews, but I couldn't have had a worse experience with Sterling Auto Collision. I drove an hour out of my way to come to these guys on a recommendation and left sorely disappointed. I called and made an appointment to drop my car off, but when I arrived no one was available to discuss the work that needed to be done. It took TWO WEEKS for someone to get back in touch with. I called and left many voicemails, none of which were returned. When I did finally hear back, we carefully discussed over the phone what work needed to be completed. After another TWO WEEKS of no updates, I finally received a call saying the car was finished. When I arrived to pick it up only about 80% of the work discussed had been completed although I was charged for all of the estimate. As I was discussing it with the staff they asked me to wait a minute while they went in to check something and then never returned. I left a follow up voicemail for the manager before writing this review, but once again it was not returned. I summary, they had my vehicle for over a month, never returned a phone call and did not complete the work that was asked. read more

This was my first time with Sterling, used others in the past that were insurance preferred shops. I was never happy with any work done on any of my cars in the past. This time i dealt with a very poor insurance company called Western General. Sterling and myself had to go round and round with them to get the work done properly. April and Joey took care of everything from the rental pickup to dealing with the insurance company to get the proper parts to fix my vehicle right. I have never been more satisfied with an auto body shop. The service doesn't stop after you pick up your car either, they want you to return in two months to make sure everything is good with the repair. Joey and the entire team made my recent experience pain free. That's high praise when you think about the fact that they're repairing my vehicle that was damaged by someone else. They worked with the other insurance company and had me in a rental the whole time; I was even able to drop off the rental at Sterling when I picked up my truck. I really never had to talk to the insurance company ever. Again, pain free and seamless. Thanks y'all. Very professional the whole time and the repair is perfect. As good as it came off the factory floor new. I've used Sterling for many years as a business owner sending over my clients' cars for body repair and have heard great things from my clients but had never needed them personally. I have had two insurance jobs repaired by Sterling, a Forester and a Tahoe. They did an amazing job both times. I am one of those "car guys" that has some attention to detail. I don't do paint and body because it requires too much skill and patience. However, I do have an idea of the process. If you rush or cut corners it's going to show up later in the paint. After two month of working on our BMW, Sterling final called up to have us pick up our car. The Paint did not even come close to matching. They blamed it on the insurance company, but this is BS. I ask them why then did not contact us about the color match, basically they said it looked OK inside. Stay Away. read more

I had a great experience with the team at Sterling, and didn't feel like another number like some other places i've been.. paper plates still on my new car and bam! some crazy lady runs into the back of me.. they made sure all the parts that were damaged were replaced with NEW parts, helped with the rental process, took the time to explain to me and made me feel comfortable thay would do it the RIGHT way! I was thoroughly impressed with job they did! The paint was like glass and all the molding fit perfect! I am vey picky when it comes to getting any of my babies repaired, but I can assure you next time I need any bodywork done, I will be bring it to Sterling! read more
